Close to Durham City, secluded position with outstanding views

Converted to a very high standard by the present owner, this spacious barn dates back over one hundred years. Surrounded by glorious open countryside, this barn is detached within a large lawned area, has lots of parking for cars and makes an ideal holiday home for families, sensible groups or a romantic and relaxing break.

The indoor heated swimming pool with large hot tub is attached to the property and has magnificent views over to the Yorkshire Dales.

Catley Hill is ideally positioned to visit a number of great towns and cities being only 9 miles from Durham City, 20 miles from the popular quayside in Newcastle upon Tyne, 10 miles from Hartlepool Marina and Historic Quay and just over an hour from the beautiful Northumberland Coast as it is from the Yorkshire Dales and the North Yorkshire Moors. So whether you wanted to stay at home and relax in our luxurious facilities or take a trip to one of the many interesting and nearby attractions, it is up to you.

NEW FOR 2015 - we are creating a fourth bedroom overlooking the swimming pool. This bedroom will have a king size bed and ensuite facilities as well as a large balcony. Pictures to follow.

This fourth bedroom will be separate from the main accommodation with its own access.

Gorgeous house, amazing hosts and stunning views

We had a fantastic stay in the barn. As a hen party of 10 we spent loads of time in the hot tub and pool (and enjoyed the luxury of the complementary robes!), had so much space that we could all get ready separately and then come together in the gorgeous double height living/dining room for food and games. It is even more lovely than the photos can do justice. The kitchen was fully equipped so we managed to cook for 10 very easily. A complementary bottle of champagne was such a thoughtful touch. Only a short taxi ride to Durham so perfect for our Saturday night out. The only dilemma was who gets the bedroom overlooking the pool because that really was pure luxury! And Barbara was even sweet enough to post a couple things the girls had left, each to their own address! Amazing hosts, gorgeous house and views, we will definitely be back! :)

Outstanding accommodation!

I stayed here with a group of friends for my sisters special birthday. We we thrilled with the whole experience. The accommodation was outstanding. Beautifully decorated with all amenities. The pool and hot tub were perfect. The complementary bottle of prosecco to celebrate was a lovely touch. Will definitely be returning!

Spent a fabulous weekend in this truly sumptuous location celebrating a pals special birthday with the girls. Loved everything but especially the pool room with the jacuzzi. None of us wanted to leave and plans in throe to book to stay again, counting the days!

Excellent holiday

Returned from a lovely week at Catley Barn. The barn in immaculate with all facilities you would need. From kitchen appliances, cutlery, crockery, cleaning products to dressing gowns for the pool. We had two children with us aged 10 and 12. These spent most of the week in the pool and playing with the owners four lovely dogs. The barn is a credit to its owners Barbara and Guy who couldn't do enough and very welcoming. They were also extremely accommodation to one of our party needing to have their oxygen delivered ready for the week.

Would highly recommend to anyone of any age.

Thankyou very much for the use of your fabulous barn.

We will definitely be back again.

Located five minutes from the A1M Junction 61, Catley Hill is only 10 minutes drive from beautiful Durham City with its wonderful Cathedral, Castle and river, 15 minutes from Hartlepool with its Marina, Historic Quay and Seaton Carew beach,forty minutes from the North Yorkshire Moors and Yorkshire Dales and 20 minutes to Beamish Open Air Museum, 30 minutes to the Metro Shopping Centre and 30 minutes to Newcastle upon Tyne. We are ideally situated.

We are only 5 miles from Sedgefield which is a lovely village with several pubs and restaurants and a Country Park.

Trimdon Village is our nearest village (1 mile) with a couple of good food pubs, a small supermarket, fish & chip shop and Chinese Takeaway etc.

Morgans Field light aerodrome is situated approximately 1 mile south.

Other Activities: Quad Biking

Golf: There is a golf club at Sedgefield which is about 4 miles from Catley Hill which is open to all. It has a great driving range and good course.

Next to the golf club is Hardwick Park which has a lovely walk around its lakes and nature trails.
