About the property

Sleeps 10-12. 5-bedroom Provencal villa. Private heated pool and mountain views.

Situated in it's own private grounds, La Musardiere is a luxury villa with stunning views of the local mountains and yet is only 2 minutes walk from the local village. Here you can do as much or as little as you want. BBQs by the pool, a game of boules absorbing the ambiance of the French lifestyle. Or if you or your little ones feel the need to stretch your legs we even have our own mini mountain/forest to explore behind the villa! There are many beautiful picnic spots along the local River Buech, great to cool down on a hot summers day. Please contact us for more details.

The Garden: Outside there is a large private garden with many sunny terraces perfect for long warm evenings. There is a family sized gas BBQ, tables and chairs, well positioned wooden benches to soak up the sun in the morning, afternoon and evening. The heated pool is 9m x 4m with security cover when not in use. Magical first thing in the morning as the sun pops up over the mountain and just as magical in the evening. Please note that the heated pool is open Apr-Sep (subject to weather).

Lakes and rivers: There are many swimming lakes nearby with restaurants and shower facilities and the River Buech, just a short walk away, is ideal for picnics and swimming in its beautiful clear waters. A short drive south will bring you to natures own water park. With beautifully clear pools, waterfalls to slide down rocks to climb and jump from.

The Area: The Hautes Alpes is relatively undiscovered. It is a stunning region with a reported 300 days of sunshine a year. There is so much to do and see here with many outdoor activities, eg, rafting, canoeing, climbing (of international standard), road cycling, caving, mountain biking, accrobranche (climbing through trees), gliding, parapente etc. The local hiking routes in the mountains are well marked and all have stunning scenery with enough variety to do a different hike each day of your holiday. The Tour de France often passes through or near the area. The roads for cycling or motorbike touring in the mountains are stunning and excellent condition. The World Rally Championships (Monte Carlo) also visit Gap each year in January.

Aspres sur Buech is a beautiful little traditional French village which is just a few minutes walk from the villa. There are a few local shops - boulangerie, cafe, Poste, butcher and a small supermarket. There are larger supermarkets just 15 minutes drive from the villa. Slightly further away the towns of Gap and Sisteron offer wonderful historic sites, good shops and an excellent selection of bars, cafes and restaurants.

Wildlife: you will see deer, eagles, red squirrels, badger, mountain goats, boar, beaver, crested tit - all in an average day in Haute Alpes. There is also great trout fishing in the local river.

La Musardiere has been awarded 4* by the Comite Departemental du Tourisme Haute-Alpes.

We love the Hautes Alpes area in Northern Provence which is relatively undiscovered. We have owned La Musardiere for 4 years as our holiday home but in 2017 we decided to relocate to France and now live 15 mins away from La Musardiere in a small village called Serres. Aspres sur Buech is very accessible by road, rail and air so, prior to moving to France, whether we had a 2 week holiday or just a long weekend we were able to make the most of our beautiful home. Leaving London in the morning, you can be having lunch on the veranda in the sunshine by early afternoon. We hope you enjoy your stay as much as we do. The scenery is stunning and there are so many activities for a fabulous holiday - hiking, cycling, canoeing, hang-gliding...or just relaxing by the heated pool and enjoying a game of garden chess or table tennis. As we live locally, we are available to assist with any queries.

La Musardiere offers so much flexibility: whether you want to totally stop and relax or have a more active holiday. There are many beautiful picnic spots along the River Buech, great to cool down on a hot summers day. The villa is close to the village and yet very quiet. Enjoy spending time having meals on the secluded sunny terraces around the villa. There are a selection of tables, chairs, sun loungers, hammocks and well positioned wooden benches to soak up the sun in the morning, afternoon and evening or to shelter from the heat. The heated pool is 9m x 4m with security cover when not in use. Inside the villa there is a variety of entertainment: 47" TV with English and French reception, Bluetooth sound bar, Wii, PS3, wifi, board games and a variety of books. Enough to keep everyone entertained no matter their age.

What makes this villa unique

The Hautes Alpes area in Northern Provence is simply stunning. We completely fell in love with the area when we visited and subsequently bought our holiday home - being relatively undiscovered it is not commercialized and you can experience "real France". The weather is fabulous whichever season and there are so many activities to keep us busy that there is something to suit every type of weather ...even when it's too hot! The villa is located in the mountains at 800m so benefits from slightly cooler summers than the coast (still mid 30s!). It is a stunning region with a reported 300 days of sunshine a year. Whilst a car is recommended, there are superb facilities in the local village within walking distance (baker, butcher, post office, supermarket) and the villa has excellent access from train and air and full internet access (WIFI is included in the price). We love this area so much that in 2017 we relocated here from the UK.

La Musardiere has a large lounge/dining room with open fire, large cosy sofas, 47" TV, Satellite, DVD, CD, ipod dock, Wi-Fi, French doors leading to the terrace and garden. Large wood shed fully stocked. Plenty of parking. There is central heating and an open log fire for the winter with fans available for the summer. We provide summer and winter duvets. The house and gardens are ideally suited for families. We have a no smoking policy in the house and around the pool. The villa is suitable for people with mobility problems as there is a bedroom with French doors, a bathroom and a wc on the ground floor. There are small steps to access the house from the drive/terrace. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any concerns. Reasonable end of stay cleaning is included in the price; however, extra charges will be made for any additional cleaning either mid-stay or end of stay. Bathroom and swimming pool towels included in the price. Tourist taxes included in the price.

Perfect location for a complete get away !

Villa situated in a quiet and secluded position. Easy 5 minutes walk to the village. Villa well equipped for 10 people. Need to travel to nearby places for some additional bars and restaurants. Beautiful scenery and clear air. Pool and outdoor space made the holiday.

Very nice place

Great place.

If you have good weather and you are outdoor a lot you can stay with 12 people, if not I think it is better for maximum of 10 persons.

A complete house, everything you need is there. Very friendly and helpfull owners.

I enjoyed a great stay in this comfortable house. Within a short walk of the boulangerie and small sips or an easy drive to the local attractions. Good views from the terrace and a comfortable bed.

Aspres sur Buech is centrally located between Lyon, Grenoble, Marseille and Chambery airports and takes approx 2 hours. Slightly further away are Geneva,Nice, Toulon, Avignon, Nimes, and Montpelier. To drive from Calais to Aspres takes between 8 - 10 hours. You can travel by Eurostar or TGV to Grenoble or Valence where you can hire a car or we can arrange airport/station pick ups.The village is just a 2 minute stroll away from the villa. There is a bakery, a butchers, post office, hairdressers, pharmacy, doctor, restaurant and local bar with terrace and a small, friendly supermarket. The town of Veynes is just 10 mins drive with banks, 2 large supermarkets, weekly market (Thurs) and restaurants.Serres (10mins) has a good choice of restaurants some with live music. The nearest large towns are Gap and Sisteron (30-40 mins by car) with plenty of interesting shops, markets and restaurants.

Prices are for the exclusive use of the villa and heated pool for the property per week in UK pounds. Weekend breaks are also available, please contact us for details. Saturday to Saturday is preferable, arrival after 4pm and departure by 10am, but this can be flexible - please contact us with any questions. 25% non refundable deposit to secure booking and balance payable 8 weeks prior to holiday. Reasonable end of stay cleaning included within rental costs - the surcharge for any additional end-of-stay cleaning will be charged to the client. Should you require extra cleaning or extra linen/towels during your holiday this can be arranged at additional cost. Pets will be considered but additional cleaning of £50 will be payable due to extra cleaning required. A higher security deposit of £600 will be required for clients with pets - this will be fully reimbursed one week after your stay, less any damages or breakages.

  • 100% refund for cancellations more than 60 days before check-in date.
  • Service Fee fully refunded on cancellations that qualify for 100% refund.
