The Fairmont Orchid and Mauna Lani Bay Hotels on either side of Hale Aouli's private enclave offers all guests at Hale Aouli a personal pass to enjoy their beaches and the thousands of acres of amenities like tennis and golf as well as all the hiking and biking trails that run along and in between the two resorts.... so exceptionally rare! Hale Aouli could not be much closer than it is to one of the most stunning and safe swim/snorkel/paddle-board/surf-friendly beaches on the Big Island (check us out on Google Earth) where you can view and swim or snorkel with the local giant green sea turtles and lots of colorful fish, and all of these additional amenities are yours to enjoy free of charge and all are located just outside the home's secure oceanside gates and only about a hundred yards from Hale Aouli's huge 3,000 sq. ft. oceanside lanai.
As you enter this beautiful home you'll hardly notice the 18 ft. high open-beam ceilings and 10 ft. tall glass and screen Great Room doors that disappear into the walls because the imposing ocean view will command your gaze and lure you out to enjoy its 40 ft. long free-form heated, salt-water swimming pool and its circular jacuzzi spa, all of which commands the best of this home's views of the Pacific Ocean and the Island of Mauai in the distance. And both will coax you to stay right where you are, but this home's spectacular location will give you plenty to do without need of a car as most everything is either right there in front of you, right next to you or just a few min. stroll or easy bike ride from the property. Every room has its own climate controlled cooling systems so you can be cooled by fans, the island's breezes or A/C.... as you like it. Its full acre of exquisite home and manicured tropical gardens will delight you as does its circular lawn driveway and its courtyard entry walkways that appear to float above the shallow ponds beneath them.
This home is truly elegantly appointed with 4 generous bedroom suites - 3 with luxurious Tempurpedic or pillow-top king beds and 1 with two brand new Tempurpedic queen beds. The Master Bedroom suite commands a large footprint of the home's square footage. Views and breezes from the ocean and waves breaking can be seen, felt and heard right from your bed pillow and this suite includes its own office with partners desk, phone and copier/fax/printer/scanner for your use. Wifi runs throughout the entire home and lanai areas. This Master suite also houses its own full-size washer and dryer well hidden behind a pair of mahogany louvered doors. Its private bathroom with 8 ft. shower will entertain you with several choices of shower heads and it's own private walled-in outdoor garden of Eden that includes a soaking tub and an outdoor shower. All 3 Guest Bedroom suites include desks, seating areas, large walk-in closets and private bathrooms each with their own indoor as well as outdoor showers in private, walled-in outdoor garden settings.
The villa's 40x30 ft. Great Room is as comfortable as it is imposing with plenty of seating to enjoy the 70" flat-screen TV with Cable, Apple TV and/or stereo music with speakers everywhere so that you may choose to listen to music in one spot and watch TV in another anywhere in the main house or courtyard or on its large oceanside lanai area out by the pool and jacuzzi that overlooks expansive ocean views.
Relax and enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner on this home's beautiful 2,500 sq. ft. stone lanai with comfortable seating everywhere. The lanai's four luxurious chaises will be a favorite spot whether to enjoy the sun, a good book, view the whales or Surfer Joe, or to conclude each evening by star-gazing and marveling at the myriad of stars in the night sky above you. The outdoor wet-bar, complete with 4 comfortable armed chairs lined up along the bar area has all that is required to entertain you, including a flat-screen TV, drink fridge, ice maker, sink and of course built-in stereo speakers, that will make it a favorite spot to enjoy sports or listen to Hawaiian music while you sip mai tais and spear sashimi appetizers. The 6 ft. round stone outdoor dining table will seat up to 8 comfortably in arm chairs and is also a favorite spot to have breakfast, lunch or dinner under the stars. The large new Twin Eagle BBQ grill is always the most fun way to enjoy cooking fresh mahi mahi or thick steaks, chops or marinated chicken so easily purchased at our nearby Foodland, newly enlarged and a favorite spot to shop for absolutely everything you'll need and is just a 2 min. drive or 10 min. bike ride from the house. With their full-time butchers offering fabulous fresh fish daily, cut to order meats and hand-made sushi, great wines, fresh produce and delicious prepared foods always ready for pick-up all day and evening, as well a huge array of desserts from its bakery section, you're likely to become your own Hawaiian chef.... YUMMMM!
The home's huge gourmet kitchen with its long, curved bar that seats 5 has everything and more sporting the finest appliances, cookware and dinnerware as well as boasting one of the best views from the villa. So whether you cook yourself or call in one of our favorite in-home chefs we've personally enjoyed, the top-of-the-line accouterments as well as this beautiful space will make it a popular destination all hours of the day and night. And whether you choose to dine inside or out on the lanai, both offer an immensely enjoyable experience for you and your family and/or friends to entertain as casually or as elegantly as you wish.

We built our own fabulous "dream home" on what we think is the Best island in the Hawaiian chain.... the Big Island, and we have never looked back. Hands down, this property offers the BEST of everything you could ask for in a luxury vacation property. When renting a rare "beachfront" property, everyone can come and go as they please because almost everything you'll want to see and do is right there or just a few steps from your huge ocean view lanai. No fighting over cars or having to do what everyone else wants to do, you can stroll down to your beach chair and "disappear" for an hour or all day!
My family and I had such a marvelous time here! We loved eating breakfast outside while watching the sun come up, and the view was simply gorgeous. We could tell that there has been so much care and attention paid to the design of the house. My daughter and son-in-law have many wonderful pictures of them and my grandson in that beautiful pool, and we had fun cooking together in the kitchen. My youngest daughter and I have always wanted to try a Wolf range, so we were excited to get the opportunity. I realized it was probably time to leave when I started to imagine living here full time! I am already thinking about when we might return. Thank you for providing such a relaxing oasis for our family - we have so many wonderful memories that we will cherish for many years to come.
The property is absolutely gorgeous. The pictures don't do this place justice. From the driveway to the lanai and on to the beach - all are breathtaking. Our family and friends felt at home and relaxed. This house is a well oiled machine. The people that take care of this property are delightful. The house is clean, the beds are comfortable, the plants, flowers all are tropical. So much more...There are many amenities that are just a few steps away. If you choose not to cook and use the well stock gourmet kitchen or hire a chef (we recommend Stavros), the Fairmont Orchid which is next door houses great restaurants. The beach is a few steps away. We saw tons of sea turtles basting in the sun with our daily walks. We definitely felt the Aloha spirit from the beginning to the end. Respect the property, the people and what comes with it - and you will have great memories in return.
Our family spent a magical 3 weeks at Hale Aouli this summer. The house and grounds are truly spectacular - we spent many hours lounging by the pool, taking in the unbeatable view, and watching our little ones enjoy the water. The interior furnishings are also of the highest quality and very well put together - visiting Hale Aouli is like coming home to vacation property you've always dreamt of having - no detail has been overlooked.
While the house itself is truly breathtaking, what really put the icing on the cake for us was the easy access to the grounds of the Fairmont Orchid right next door. Being able to walk down to the beach and order drinks and food by the water was a terrific benefit, especially since we had our little kids with us.
The house management staff, the daily cleaning staff, and everyone associated with this property were complete professionals - we couldn't have asked for a better experience.
We can't wait to be able to go back and spend some more time in this true Hawaiian paradise.
This is a magnificent home. The home itself is stunning, the amenities are incomparable and the setting is phenomenal. We enjoyed a week of gracious living and relaxation at Hale Aouli. The owners are kind and accommodating and the management staff bent over backwards to make our stay so memorable. They came everyday to clean and replenish supplies which were generously offered.
The house has a beautiful pool which was enjoyed by everyone in our multi-generational group. A beautiful white-sand beach was a short walk from the home. We love to snorkle and though we brought our own equipment, there was plenty of snorkle gear in the garage to borrow. And the snorkling did not disappoint: especially the sea turtles we were able to see each day.
We decided to hire one of the in-home chefs the owner recommended. What a joy to sit on the gorgeous patio watching the sunset without shopping, cooking or cleaning up! This was the way to go for complete relaxation. The meals we did prepare were in the fabulous kitchen which was well equipped with everything we needed, including spices! The market is less than a five-minute drive from the house.
A drawback: though we came with a list of sights we wanted to see, it was very hard to leave this place! We definitely opted to forfeit several day trips in favor of taking advantage of the grounds and comforts of Hale Aouli. Football games on the lawn, cards on the patio, hours of fun in the pool and on the beach were a slice of heaven. This was the perfect place for a family gathering.
You will not be disappointed if you choose to stay in this exceptional home. The view from the patio is imprinted in our mind's eye--a real highlight! We hope to return to this little piece of paradise!
The house is perfectly designed, from robes to sheets to mattress, with no expense spared. The house is perfectly situated between the mauna lani and the fairmont, with several surfing spots within walking distance. The pool, spa, fountain and the award winning landscape were amazing... outdoor shower and bath were beautiful... the front of the house gardens i spent alot of times chasing anoles or taking pics of the flowers.... the fragrance... the tradewinds, the turtles...The kitchen is amazing,
i would not have wanted to stay anywhere else! the air conditioners the music the open space, the privacy! the club is nice but the home is hard to leave... the staff is first rate, professional, and were an added plus! (they clean every day) The owners have put together a masterpiece, in aesthetics and in feel... anyone lucky enough to find themselves here will truly not be disappointed. Rates for the Christmas Holiday (Dec. 20 to Dec. 27), is $7,500/night for a small party of up to 4 persons and may increase with the size of the party, with a 7 night minimum. Owner personally uses the property from December 28 thru January 31. Rent is payable in full at signing and no cash refunds for Christmas due to the difficulty in re-renting such an expensive and specialized property. We recommend obtaining trip insurance by CSA Travel Protection or other qualified insurer as trip insurance has become much more available and affordable of late. Thank you.
