This classic architectural jewel is situated in an idyllic, sylvan setting with partial ocean views. Owned by two Bowdoin alumni, it underwent a recent sympathetic restoration, being mindful of period features. It is artfully decorated with designer furnishings, original artwork and hand thrown pottery from local artists. The kitchen is a perfect mix of modern and vintage and is equipped with most necessary cooking utensils and supplies including coffeemaker, microwave and toaster. It has two upstairs bedrooms both with full sized beds and linens. The sunny south facing bedroom has views of well manicured lawns followed by partial ocean views in the distance. The north facing bedroom has views of mature cedar trees. The south facing deck is equipped with outdoor tables and chairs and is the perfect place to enjoy your morning coffee or an afternoon barbecue, while experiencing an ocean breeze and the faint sound of lobster boats.
Being that this is a seasonal cottage, it is not insulated throughout and has some visible wiring. We do, however, offer space heaters and extra blankets to make your stay comfortable. The unique architecture of this cottage results in low ceiling clearances in certain areas where there are exposed beams and a narrow winding staircase leading to the upstairs bedrooms which may make it less suitable for extremely tall or some elderly people.
A very picturesque public boat launch is conveniently located right at the end of the street. The cottage is walking distance to two authentic general stores, Holbrook's lobster wharf and restaurant with expansive ocean views, yet still "far from the madding crowd".
Cundy's Harbor is the oldest commercial lobster fishing village in Maine and yet is home to a diverse crowd, from the fishermen themselves, to famed artisans, the President of Bowdoin College and a movie-star or two. Despite this hidden cosmopolitan flair, it remains remarkably authentic and unadulterated.
Also in Harpswell, just a short drive away you will find numerous art galleries, gift shops, cafes, restaurants and scenic points.
Brunswick, ME, home of historic Bowdoin college which graduated the likes of Hawthorne and Longfellow is only a 15 minute drive and provides ample shopping and antiquing. Concerts and theater are available through most of the summer via the Bowdoin International Music Festival and Maine State Music Theater.
Brothers Dimitri and Anthony Seretakis were introduced to Harpswell while studying at Bowdoin College. They were drawn by the natural beauty of the area that they decided to return some years after graduating.
Dimitri Seretakis purchased this cottage in 2010
Every attention to detail was made to make our stay the most memorable vacation my wife and I have ever experienced.
My partner and I felt instantly welcomed in this adorably chic cottage. It’s a perfect haven for people seeking a serene getaway with the additional advantage of being in the heart of Harpswell’s culinary and natural environment.
The cottage tastefully and sophisticatedly decorated and complete with every amenity. It’s clean, light filled and peaceful.
As a visual artists we felt a Zen-like inspiration at cottage and its surrounding grounds and look forward to returning next summer.
This was our first visit to Maine and we can't wait to go back. Dimitri was a wonderful, attentive and generous host. The cottage immediately stood out to us from all the other listings due to its attention to detail and design. Situated in Cundy's Harbor, the cottage is a great way to get away from it all, but still close to excellent restaurants, Popham Beach and Reid State Park. The airy and intimate wooden interiors, designer touches, well-equipped kitchen, reliable wifi and wood-burning stove were a perfect blend of modern and vintage. A gorgeous view of the bay was just a walk down the road. Highly recommended!
This cottage is everything you would expect of a vintage cottage on the coast of Maine; quaint and charming, but also well appointed. The beautifully painted wide-pine floors, well-equipped kitchen, stylish and comfortable oversized armchair and couch, and tasteful decor all add to your comfort and feeling of being in someplace special. The bedrooms were cozy, comfortable, and tastefully decorated. Perfect for a couple or even a small family. The attention to detail is everywhere – from the artwork to the small library of Maine-related books. Mornings were spent having coffee on the deck, enjoying the quiet, peaceful location and the water view in the distance. The cottage was far enough from other more tourist-heavy areas to feel totally private, but close enough to easily drive to activities in these areas when we wanted to. We found a number of quaint places to eat, including nearby Holbrook’s – a pleasant walk from the cottage – Schoolhouse Café and Morse’s Lobster, just a short drive. There are also quite a few impressive art galleries in the area. This cottage is clearly a special place that was put together by an owner who cares about detail, style, and the comfort of his guest. We can’t wait to go back next year!

This is a small, rustic, seasonal cottage. While it has many amenities and is quite comfortable, it is NOT a house. Refunds will not be issued because it is too rustic, it lacks central heat or A/C, quarters are too tight, the staircase is too narrow, etc. Please contact the owner prior to booking if you have any questions!
