We live in Aboyne a small town close to Balmoral Castle and the Cairngorms National Park.We have been in the hospitality industry for over 25 years. We own a restaurant on Royal Deeside as well as one of Scotland`s only 5 star hostels- Habitat @Ballater.
Along with our three teenage children we have travelled extensively in Europe and North America. We like to relax when we are on holiday and enjoy nice, comfortable surroundings after a days sightseeing. We have tried to provide everything that our guests will require to have a fabulous holiday in Scotland.
Claudia purchased this house in 2010
Pennan is one of the prettiest coastal villages in Scotland. It is situated on the Banffshire coast which is a real 'hidden gem' .The whole coastline is dotted with lovely villages in spectacular settings, there are interesting historical towns such as Banff and Portsoy. The birdwatching and wildlife are world famous.Being based in Pennan means you can easily drive to wonderful beaches, visit ancient castles and explore the wonderful history and culture of rural Aberdeenshire.
Pennan is quaint, quiet and peaceful. The 30 or so houses all line the single street and everyone knows each other. When you come out of the front door you are right on the harbourside and next to the pebbled beach.
You can sit outside with a glass of wine and enjoy the fantastic sunsets. When it`s cold outside you can curl up in front of the fire and listen to the waves.

Our stay at Harbour House was one of the highlights of our Scotland vacation. The cozy home was welcoming and comfortable, and the village picturesque. The kitchen was a cook's dream, with everything you could dream of to prepare wonderful meals. Claudia thought of everything to make our stay comfortable, including a thoughtful basket of goodies, fluffy towels, and a wonderful selection of books about the area. I would whole heartedly recommend staying at Harbour Hourse.
Harbour House is a holiday haven. It's well-equipped and well-organised, it's spacious and yet cosy, and it's beautifully decorated, with spades of seaside character. Claudia gave us a warm welcome, and some tasty goodies, and had one of the two wood-burning stoves stoked for our arrival. The setting is stunning, and the locals very friendly. We even bought a couple of lobsters from a creel fisherman in the harbour.
We were a small family group, with a 13 month old. There was plenty of space for the baby to crawl around a play, and he made use of the buckets and spades provided. He also enjoyed the deep square bath tub, and seaview from his highchair.
I stayed in one of the box beds, which are full size singles. Plenty of room for an adult, warm, cosy and fun.
The kitchen was particularly great, if you like to cook whilst staying away. It had everything we needed (or wanted!), from the coffee machine, to a pot big enough for lobster!
I have no hesitation in recommending Harbour House to others.
Great house in a great little picturesque town. I will def be back!
Absolutely overwhelmed by the thoughtfulness of owners--they haven't left anything to chance. Upon arrival my traveling companions and I were greeted with a welcoming fire in the woodburning stove, a basket of goodies to make our stay memorable and the owner who welcomed us into the wonderful cottage right on the edge of the harbor at Pennan. The layout was perfect with three bedrooms to give everyone the space we needed and the equipment in the kitchen--even a cappuccino machine--was more plentiful than any other place I've rented through HomeAway. We had picnic equipment, toys for children (if we had brought any), firewood and coal, washcloths (which anyone who has traveled in Europe knows are almost nonexistent). The home was very clean and all amenities were as described. Thank you, Claudia, for a wonderful stay. The little village has friendly residents but do not go there for nightlife (which we didn't) as this time of year there is none. If you're looking for a totally peaceful and beautiful village you won't be disappointed.
A very comfortable and cosy cottage eqipped to a very high standard. An excellent base for touring the beautiful Moray/Aberdeenshire coast. We had a very enjoyable few days and would be more than happy to stay there again.
