A warm welcome from me or my husband Salvo.
This villa is superb. It was the highlight of the holiday, to wake up to such beautiful scenery every morning. It was Great, Relaxing and indescribable you just have to see it to realise its beauty. The villa itself is fantastic, well looked after and spacious. It is in a position which is ideal for both walkers with some great places to walk to. And for non walkers as sea front is a short distance with shops, restaurants, pubs and a bus stop where you can catch a bus into Victoria. We went into Marsalforn most nights and made friends at the Beach bar with the Manager Andrew and his partner Kathy who are lovely people and very friendly and welcoming. The restaurants provide really nice food and the locals are nice people. I would recommend this villa to everyone who needs to relax and enjoy their holiday you can't get anywhere better. As for Salvo he made us very welcome and is a pleasant person to talk to. There is a pizza place in Zebug where they make the pizzas fresh while you wait and is good value for money. The villa has a pool which is an ideal size for a holiday and nicely lit up at night. Overall this villa is a great place to stay in a great location on Gozo
Nous avons passé une semaine formidable, la maison a dépassée nos espérance ! Magnifique maison confortable et très grande, merci au propriétaire très aimable.
We had a wonderful stay at this property, that is spacious and well equipped. The owner was very helpful and sorted our transport from airport to house and return, which is a boon. The convenience of being on a bus route and a friendly general store just up the road led us not needing to rent a car. The views from the pool/balcony are stunning
We have just returned from a very enjoyable week staying on the lovely island of Gozo. Our accommodation was in an equally lovely, large and very well furnished house in Xaghra where we were welcomed (at a very unsociable time of the very early morning!) by Salvo who showed us around the house and outside area.
As it was dark outside when we arrived we had to wait until morning to see the view. We awoke to a beautiful morning bathed in glorious sunshine, the joy of a glistening blue swimming pool and an unspoilt countryside vista stretching before us with views of the Med to boot! And this was the case for the rest if the week.......
We all thoroughly enjoyed staying at Ghajn Damma and were delighted to find that all bedrooms on the upper levels had their own large en-suites while the twin room on the ground floor had a lovely shower room just next door to it.
Salvo called during our week to check that things were okay and to check the pool levels. The pool was wonderful and many a happy hour was spent cooling off in it and it definitely made the holiday for my teenage daughter!
The property was very clean, well maintained and equipped to a very good standard.
Jacqueline was very helpful with all e-mail queries prior to our arrival and happily arranged transfers to and from the airport in Malta and car hire for us too (which I would say is an essential). The car was was older than we would expect to hire in the UK but was perfectly adequate. Driving was easy in that cars drive on the same side of the road as the UK but some non-main roads are narrow and more "exciting" (!!) to drive on compared with ones that we are perhaps used to.
There were so many interesting places to visit on the island and we enjoyed taking our time to view the sights. We also were lucky enough to be in Xaghra during an important Festa celebration and it was quite amazing to see the effort that had been put in to decorate the village for the event- quite beautiful, if a tad noisy at times when the fireworks were being set off!!!
You cannot fail to enjoy time spent on Gozo - there were so many interesting sights to see, amazing scenery and sunsets and nice restaurants too.
We had intended to take the ferry to Malta on a couple of occasions but instead spent our time viewing the island and simply relaxing at the house or having fun in the pool!
Thank you Jacqueline and Salvo for the use of your lovely property- we would certainly love to return to Ghajn Damma.o
In the past, we have rented holiday villas in a number of different countries, including Australia, the U.S.A., Spain, Portugal and Minorca, but none of these "ticked all the boxes" quite like this one.
On our arrival at the villa in Xaghra, Gozo, we were met by the owner, Savu, and given a personal tour of the accommodation.
From the very first impression, it was clear that we had made a particularly good choice for our 10 day stay in Gozo.
As an extended family of 8, we were particularly pleased with the bedroom/bathroom ratio; further, the fact that accommodation was spread over three floors meant that we never felt cramped for personal space. When you find that two of the bedrooms each have their own spacious balconies/terraces, privacy is never a problem.
The villa was spotlessly clean - including the pool - and is obviously maintained by the owners to a very high standard. It is well furnished with ample clothes storage space in each bedroom. The one minor fault we encountered - with an air-conditioning unit in a bedroom - was corrected the day we reported it ( on a Sunday !).
The views across the valley from the rear of the property are quite amazing, perhaps especially at sunset, and was one of which we never tired.
All in all, this villa contributed to a simply great holiday in Gozo, and is one we would have no hesitation in recommending to others. We are very hopeful of a return visit, good health and good fortune providing.
Xaghra is the largest and most sought after village in Gozo. It is situated on a hill which is one of the hills on the emblem of Gozo. The village with breahtaking views of valleys and beaches. The village of Xaghra is very popular as there are the most popular places in Gozo and a lot of history.
The Neolithic Ggantija Temples in Xaghra are a World Heritage Site and completely unique. The oldest freestanding temples in the world, they date back to 3500BC and they are attributed to a mythical giantess. These temples are older than the Pyramids of Egypt. There are also the stalactites and stalagmites caves , the Kola Windmill and also Calypso Cave which is overlooking a large sandy beach called Ramla Bay.This is where Gozo got it's name as the Island of Calypso. The legend says that Calypso who was a nymph, saved Ulysses who got shipwrecked and kept him with her for seven years.
There is also Ramla Bay ( red sandy beach) which is the most popular and most unspoilt beach on Gozo. The beach is shallow and perfect for children, except on windy days. During the winter Ramla l-Hamra affords pleasant peaceful walks. A statue dedicated to Our Lady of Hope stands in the middle of the beach.
Xaghra has got a very nice square lined with cafeterias, bars and restaurants which are open all day. People selling fresh vegetables and fruit. Pharmacy, butcher shops, newspaper shops, banks etc.. There is also a very large nice church dedicated to our Lady of Victory.
The feast of Xaghra is celebrated on the 8th of September, with a whole week of fireworks, bands playing, processions and so on.
