Villa Lemonia completed April 2008 is situated on the edge of Karavados village on route to St Thomas beach. The first floor comprises of Master bedroom with King size bed, en suite bathroom and balcony also Double bedroom en suite with balcony. Both bedrooms have magnificent panoramic views of mountain, sea and Zakynthos Island. All bedrooms have large fitted wardrobes. Ground floor has 1 twin bedroom which opens directly onto pool and terrace area. adjacent to large bath and shower room. Open plan lounge, dinning and kitchen area. Lounge and dining room both open out onto the pool and terrace. Outside terraced area is laid to attractive Albanian stone, which cover all areas around the villa including drive to parking area and pergola. Pool area has sunbeds, parasols, table and chairs for 6 .
This villa lives up to all expectations. Although everything is of hi spec it has a homely feel. Inside is filled with choice pieces of furniture and décor and I for one loved the small touches like decent pillows to sleep on and the best towels ever experienced in a rental property. All bedrooms and downstairs living space open out on to the great pool, fantastic views, and gardens filled with colour and lemon trees.
We found the location perfect, 20mins from the airport, easy drive to a choice of many beaches, and main roads to explore the rest of the island.
We are a family of four, kids aged 11 and 7 and spent our day, picking out a beach or activity ( cave exploring, speedboat trips), then heading back to the villa around 3/4pm to make use of the pool, play cards in the BBQ area and sample the Greek wine before going out to dinner. Tavern's on the doorstep, a short walk away or short drive or taxi away.
I never write reviews but credit where credit is due, both to the villa and the stunning island........ We may be back to explore those bits we didn't quite get time to see.
The Harries Family
We holiday abroad several times a year but rarely return to the same villa as they never seem to be quote as nice as the pictures show but Villa Lemonia is the firm exception.
This is our third visit in four years and in 2013 we gave the villa an excellent review as it was everything that we hoped for and having fallen in love with the beautiful island of Kefalonia we returned the following year and tried to book last year too but someone got there first but we did manage to get in early for 2016 and have enjoyed another wonderful holiday on Kefalonia staying in Villa Lemonia as usual.
Our first thoughts back in 2013 was how well the villa had been designed, decorated and furnished and it seemed just perfect but rather than resting on their laurels Stephanie and Gary have been making continual improvements and this year they have thrown out their wonderful masony bbq for one that is even grander and have built a rather attractive and very useful covered area in the garden for those times when you want a rest from the heat of the sun.
Stephanie and Gary always try to go the extra mile to make their visitors holiday as enjoyable as possible and not for them the well worn and stained bath towels on offer elsewhere but high quality luxurious towels are the order of the day.
To answer the guideline questions asked on the "tips for writing reviews" The description was accurate and if anything it underplayed the quality of the fixtures and fittings on offer. The villa was scrupulously clean and well maintained and if anything were to go wrong (it hasn't with us in six weeks) the owners are fairly close at hand.
Finally I would recommend Villa Lemonia to my friends and relatives without hesitation which is something that I have never said before about any of the many villas that we stayed in around Europe.
My daughter found Villa Lemonia after looking at lots of properties in Kefalonia & we're so glad she did. A truly gorgeous villa completed to a very high spec that really did have the wow factor. Gary & Stephanie were a lovely couple who kept everything in pristine condition. It was hard to drag ourselves away from the pool but we did manage to. The taverna across the road served good food & had a little supermarket for handy essentials & there's a very good restaurant within walking distance ( a torch is handy in places!) A car is recommended but as we were a party of 6 adults we used taxis to get about which werent too expensive with sharing the costs. We would definitely return here & part of me was reluctant to write about villa Lemonia as I didnt want too many people finding out about this little gem!
Another amazing holiday in Villa Lemonia. The weather was lovely, sunny and breezy which made the temperature just right. The Villa as usual was of a very high standard. We came in September this year to see what we thought of a different season but have decided for us May and June are the best as the flowers are all out which makes the island look stunning and the weather is still perfect.
the perfect place for chilling and a great base for getting out and about if you have hired a car or bike this villa is maintained to a very high standard by the owners gary and stephanie who are on hand to help if you need any and are friendly and helpful the villa is very clean and spacious with all the mod cons including wifi beautiful views and excellent pool and barbeque areas would definately recommend villa lemonia
We have just returned, family of four with two boys aged 10 and 9, reluctantly, from our two weeks in Villa Lemonia, our first holiday to Kefalonia. Having holidayed the three previous years in another Greek Island, we weren't sure it could be improved upon but we have definitely fallen in love with this jewel of the Ionian islands.
Villa Lemonia is spotlessly clean, spacious, and has everything you need for a wonderful holiday. The pool is a great size, and we particularly liked the space around the pool area for playing bat and ball and other games. The views over the sea particularly from the master bedroom balcony are fabulous to wake up to. Decent sun loungers and umbrellas, and the bbq area is also nice and shaded. We wished we had used this more.
Stephanie and Gary were welcoming and helpful, answering all my many questions and recommending some delightfully sticky looking naughty drinks to take home. :-). Always up for that challenge!
The tavern across the road, whilst not the most authentic of greek restaurants is extremely handy if you just don't want to a) cook, or b) drive anywhere and we ate there in the evenings several times. The shop next to it is even more convenient, and we could get basic supplies there daily, such as water, icecreams, and can highly recommend the local dry white wine, very drinkable and 3 euros!
Karavados was a good base to explore the lower half of the island, highly recommend the coastal drive to Skala, and Kaminia beach, our favourite. Also Melissani Lake, Drogarati caves, and Agia Effimia. We visited Myrthos beach which whilst stunning to look at was no good for swimming, on the day we went there anyway, and Sami was a beautiful seaside harbour - not sure I know what all the fuss about Antisamos beach is though, pebbly and very small/thin.....we also went into Argostoli several times for the shopping, and ate twice at a harbour side restaurant, do NOT recommend these although it is worth going to the harbour before midday to see the giant turtles.
Overall, a fantastic holiday, the Villa is perfect, Stephanie and Gary were friendly and helpful, and we absolutely recommend Villa Lemonia and Kefalonia. We will be back.
Karavados village is only a 15 min drive from Kefalonia airport and 20 mins from the cosmopolitan capital Argostoli, which has numerous restaurants and shops with a lively main square and a local atmosphere at night .Fresh fish , meat , fruit and vegetables can be found in the markets situated on the waterfront, here you can also board ferries to local destinations. Villa Lemonia is located within a couple of mins walk to the local mini market where you can purchase most of your holiday requirements. eg fresh daily bread , free range eggs , do please try their local wine ! The town of Peratata is approx 3km it offers chemist , health centre, petrol station, bakery and mini markets, also a few restaurants. The local beach of St Thomas offers sunbeds & umbrellas ( for a small charge) there are 2 tavernas one which only opens at night and is well known for freshly caught fish.
