Romantic Coastal Cottage

Bedrooms 1
Space 900 sq ft
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

Cabin, 1 Bedroom + Loft, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2)

Romantic, Coastal, Arts and Crafts Style Cottage, originally built in 1918 by Zella Lee Gibson, as her painting studio. The cottage has been lovingly restored by the owners, a wine country interior designer and a general contractor. Perfect for the discriminating renter who wants the best of what Dillon Beach has to offer. Full Circle has received 173, FIVE STAR reviews. This is very, very rare anywhere on the VRBO website and unheard of in Dillon Beach.

'Full Circle' has an all redwood interior, 17 foot high vaulted ceilings, stained glass windows, 180 degree ocean view, filled with period antiques, lighting and original artwork. The cottage art and decor is a homage to the original inhabitants of the area, the Coastal Miwok Indians. Known as 'the cutest house in the village', at Dillon Beach. Located just 200 strides from the beach down Bumble Bee Path.

Upon check-in, you are welcomed with a bottle of excellent wine, Fuji water, Pellegrino water, a fresh cut bouquet of flowers from Second Street Flowers in Petaluma, Coast Roast coffee, a box of 4 custom Full Circle, Belgium chocolate truffles by Le Belge, live orchids, plush Turkish cotton bath sheets and robes, Terra Pure organic shampoo, conditioner and body wash and custom, hand made, custom organic Full Circle soaps from Hawaii. The fire is built and ready to light.

Wake up each morning to the sun streaming in the magnificent front gable, stained glass, church window. Watch the waves roll in on the beach from your ocean view meditation loft. Spend your days relaxing in the plush Lloyd Flanders furniture on the patio and upper deck overlooking the ocean. Enjoy a sparkling clean brand new Hot Springs Spa hot tub with a whitewater ocean view and watch the sun set on the ocean. BBQ and have dinner under the stars on the deck. Make some memories while getting cozy around the outdoor fireplace with trellis mounted heaters. Fall asleep in the plush bed to the sounds of the waves breaking on the beach.

The bed, bedding and bathroom should be the best part of any rental experience. The new pillow-top, queen size bed is made with 800 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets, down comforters, Coiuchi organic cotton pillow shams and bedspread, down pillows and Pendleton Chief blanket. The bathroom is behind a stained glass door from 1870 and is made of the very rare, and "high end", Calacatta Italian marble. “High-end” is a term that goes hand in hand with “rare”, as limited availability and high demand and translates to a greater expense and aesthetic. Calacatta Marble is exceptional in appearance and also exceptional in that it is only available from one quarry in the world, located in Carrara, Italy. The floor is 12"x 12" Calacatta marble with radiant heat and a basket weave border. There is a claw foot soaking tub, double Cedar vanity with a Calacatta top, generous size Callacatta marble shower with a rain head, basket weave floor and a 3/8" thick glass shower door enclosure.

A one of a kind place for that special occasion. The cottage has been featured in the Travel section of the New York Times, 'Elegant Bungalows' by Bethany Lyttle, on February 8th, 2008. It was also used as the set for the short film by Tarik Haddad, 'The Sound of a Yellow Flower', which played in the London Film Festival and the Dubai Film Festival's, among others. Gary William Kohler wrote and recorded a song about the cottage, 'Full Circle', that is included on his CD, 'Nowhere to be Found'.

This cottage is pure luxury, immaculate cleanliness, high design and romantic bliss.

The cottage is meticulously maintained to the highest cleaning standards. It is cleaned with eco-friendly products for 5 to 6 hours between each guest and deep cleaned once a month for five hours. Down pillows are washed regularly and have pillow covers under the pillow cases. The brand new Hot Springs spa has a sophisticated ozone filter system and is also thoroughly completely cleaned between each guest and maintained monthly by Hot Springs Spa Valet Service.

The cleaning fee of $125 is a separate fee and paid at check-out.

About Tom

Tom is a General Contractor who has done numerous historic preservation projects and built wineries, hotels, schools and resorts.

Robin is an interior designer who has been featured in the Home Section of the San Francisco Chronicle, the New York Times, Details magazine and the books Sonoma Valley Style, and California Wine Country and several other publications.

Tom purchased this cottage in 1990

Why Tom chose Dillon Beach

Dillon Beach is an old fishing village built right after the turn of the century. You feel like your 1,000 miles from 'civilization' when you are there. It is like 'the town that time forgot' perched on the edge of the world, overlooking the Pacific Ocean and Tomales Bay.

This restored, all redwood artist studio, is truly a one-of-a-kind and the perfect place for a romantic getaway or just simple peace, quiet and solitude.

What makes this cottage unique

Historic property. Dramatic backyard ocean views, smells and sounds. All Redwood interior, 17' vaulted ceiling, loft, short walk to the beach. Good bones.

Details, details and details. Thought went into everything we have done at Full Circle

Happy Couple

  • 5 of 5

Once we arrived at the cottage we were speechless. The careful attention to detail from the craftsmanship of the home to the decor and amenities was amazing. I've personally worked in some very high end expensive places...some that go for over 3,000.00 a night and I would choose this place over those any day! For a couple it is one of the most romantic, charming place we could have imagined. I just want to say thank you to Tom for the opportunity to stay and share this wonderful place. The pictures were hard to believe but once we showed up it was apparent that the owners and caretakers go through a great deal to make this place special.

Perfect Beach Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Could not have been more pleased. We were looking for a quiet, romantic stay on the coast, and Full Circle was perfect. Beautifully furnished and decorated. Incredible views from the backyard, bedroom, and loft. Cozy, cabin feel to the place. Feels like it's frozen in time, but with all the conveniences of home. We like to cook, and the kitchen was great. We had dinner reservations one night, but when the time came, we just couldn't motivate ourselves to leave the cottage. Why would we? Our favorite thing was sitting in the hot tub in the afternoons and watching the kite surfers. That's what I call a vacation!

One of the most wonderful vacations

  • 5 of 5

There are no words emphatic enough to describe the feeling of sheer overwhelm we felt when we entered the house. It was one of the most beautiful places we've ever had the pleasure of being in. It fills you with joy just navigating it, being in it, enjoying everything it has to offer.

Decorated with coziness in mind but equipped with all the modern luxuries, from the huge TV, to the heated floors in the bathroom, to the brand new hot tub. A comfortable bed, gorgeous views, so many sitting areas both indoors and outdoors facing the Pacific Ocean ahead.

Gorgeous drives all around the area. Hanging out at Dillon Beach will get you playing with all the dogs in the world. Amazing food to be had either at home, or less than 45 minutes of a gorgeous drive away (we tried Drake's at Bodega Bay, and River's End at Jenner, and were very happy with both).

Linda, the manager, was there minutes after we arrived to welcome us and cover everything we needed to know. The little nice touches all around the house were very much appreciated. A free bottle of wine, Belgian chocolate, the amazingly soft towels, the fragrant soaps, how much detail goes into sourcing everything sustainably.

It made for a weekend full of relaxation and romance, and we're grateful for stumbling upon this vacation home. We're definitely coming back, and we're making sure to stay more than 2 nights next time around.

We keep coming back for more!

  • 5 of 5

Again and again we choose to come back to Full Circle, and we are always glad we did.  This restored cottage is a labor of love.  The attention to details, amenities, and the consistency of the experience cannot be surpassed.  Much of what makes us return to Full Circle-- the gorgeous Pacific views, the sound of the waves and birds, morning tea on the porch, relaxing on the chaise lounge chairs, a soak in the hot tub with sweeping views, or cooking a meal in the chefs kitchen--are experiences elevated by the vision, design, and commitment of its owners. Every time we have rented here, we have been surprised that Tom and Robin continue to find ways to upgrade such an already comfortable, relaxing space.  Whether it is the patio with an outdoor fireplace, the cozy furniture, or the new linens, each and every detail, large and small, indoor or out, are done with an artistic taste and high end sensibility.  The latest surprise was the luxuriously remodeled bathroom--immaculate and pampering.  Once again, Tom and Robin executed their vision of a space with purpose, passion, and artistry.  Who doesn't love radiant floors and a rain shower!?  Overall, we couldn't have had a more relaxing time.  The location, deep history, unrelenting vision and attention to detail invigorates our stays and keeps us coming back.  Linda the caretaker, is also a part of making the experience perfect, she keeps the cottage immaculate and is a gem of a person.
