My husband and I enjoyed a perfect Parisien weekend in this flat. The location is just perfect, a charming and romantic street making any visitor feel like a local. Close to the bars, shops and restaurants of Montmartre and the surrounding neighbouhoods (try breakfast in the cafes at the bottom of the steps and dinner on Rue Trois Frere). The flat is also a short walk to the Metro (nearest stations being chateau rouge or anvers) with easy, quick access to the rest of Paris.
The flat was accurately represented, it is compact but clean and well stocked with spare towels, blankets etc, it has everything you need including a range of really helpful maps and guide books. Prior to arrival communication with the owner was excellent and arrangements for payment were dealt with in a very efficient and trusting manor. The housekeeper was there to greet us and ensure we had everything we needed - she was only a phone call away.
I would thoroughly recommend this property and would not hesitate to stay there again.
I went with my wife and seven year old son. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely flat only a stone's throw from Sacra Coeur. It was also convenient for various transport options and we had a great week visiting Paris.
My family and I stayed here a couple of weeks ago (March 2011) for a weekend. The location is great (and very, very quiet!). Apartment is clean and had everything we needed. There is a good-sized Carrefour a few blocks away for supplies, plenty of restaurants, and easy transport links to the rest of the city.
I would probably not recommend the apartment if you planned to stay long term and cook meals there, as the kitchen is miniscule and requires one to be a bit of a contortionist just to get in the cabinets, but who's going to cook on a vacation in Paris, anyway? For quick breakfasts it was fine. Wine glasses and a corkscrew? Check!
Our only problem was that the wireless didn't seem to work, and as we had only our iPad we couldn't plug directly into the modem. We did manage to find an unsecure connection from a neighbour, though!
What a wonderful flat so Parisian and so romantic! It is in an amazing location, about 10 steps from the Montmarte Cathedral, which is in the centre of restaurants on busy cobbled, narrow, parisian lanes-however the location of the flat is so quiet and most importantly I actually felt Parisian! I have travelled to Paris at least 20 times in my life (I used to come 5 times a year whilst working for Yves Saint Laurent) and have always loved this city but this was the best place I ever stayed in for real Parisian ambience. The place is cozy and yet spacious and was spotless! (I am a hard woman to please when it comes to cleaniliness)
My boyfirend surprized me for my birthday and although it rained ,as it was in Novmeber, this did not spoil the trip for me at all-this was partly due to the effiiciency of the radiators, as I usually really suffer from the cold.
I spent my birthday in the Montmarte which was incredilby moving and then walked to the metro in the eveining and we were in the centre of Paris in 5 mins. I was taken to my dream place, the Palais Garnier (Paris Opera House) after a fantastic meal. It was all so magical a dream come true!
I would definitely recommend this apartment for any men out there who want to seriously impress their girlfriends and show them romantic parisian style without the glossy fake image of the hotels!
I was very happy with this flat, and wholeheartedly agree with the comments from Fifi001 (of Melbourne, Australia) and lizzygov (of Ireland) about both the flat and the helpfulness of the owner and housekeeper. It was a wonderful experience all-round (and I'd spent hour upon painful hour searching numerous online rental sites!).
FYI, the photos on the website (as they appeared at the time that I booked) accurately reflected the flat. I'll just mention the two rooms not pictured: the bathroom and the kitchen. The bathroom was both attractive and spotless -- it looked newly retiled, in fact. The kitchen was also clean, if very tiny -- you may well bang the back of your head against a cupboard (but the housekeeper had warned us to be careful of that); it's not really a kitchen for making grand meals.
I slept on the sofa bed in the living room and it was perfectly comfortable.
I travelled with a reasonably fit couple in their seventies; they were fine with the Montmartre steps.
The location just steps below Sacré Coeur is ideal. You'll be able to spot "home" from every Paris attraction that gives you a view of the city. It is also just far enough away from the tourists to offer a respite; inside the flat, it is quiet. And the surrounding neighbourhood is a diverse mix of cultures; and if you look, you can find restaurants where locals (vs. tourists) eat.
Bike Paris! Nearby Vélib stations include 25 rue de Clignancourt and 95 rue de Dunkerque.
I cannot say anything less than this - I loved this apartment. From the initial enquiry to the end of my stay, I had a wonderful experience.
The owner is delightful to deal with - always helpful and friendly and showed genuine concern regarding my stay. The housekeeper is also a pleasure and went out of her way to assist with orienting us with the area.
The flat itself is comfortable, well-equipped and very secure. The building has a security gate and door to access, then a second door required to access the area of the building in which the apartment is located. For those tired of the Montmartre steps, there is a lift to take you to the apartment door (very handy after a day of walking!).
The location is wonderful - right on the steps to Sacre Coeur and the Butte. Transport is close and easy to get (whether you prefer taxis, buses, train or the funicular) and good cafes are also within a five minute walk. There are small shops providing necessities at the foot of the steps or if you prefer, two supermarkets less than a ten minute walk from the apartment.
The flat is well-furnished and has everything a traveller needs (including guidebooks, maps and activity brochures). Importantly, it is also quiet and the beds (including the sofabed) are very comfortable. The owner has taken care to ensure that full operating instructions are left for all appliances and fittings, so there is no need for confusion during your stay.
The lovely Montmartre is at the top of the stairs and Paris is laid out before you. I'm not normally this effusive in reviews, but I have to say that I enjoyed a wonderful stay and could not have asked for anything more from the owner, housekeeper or apartment. I would have no hesitation in recommending the apartment to my friends (one is already planning her stay) and will definitely be returning in the future.
2 minutes up the top of the Sacré Coeur staircase, the funiculaire and beautiful panoramic views of Paris. Wander around historic Montmartre's artists' quarter, the beautiful Musée de Montmartre, its vine-yard, the Dali Museum, countless restaurants and bars spreading out onto pavements in cobbled streets, the Musée de la Vie Romantique, the Musée de l'Erotisme, food markets and outdoor cultural events in Spring, Summer and Autumn. Montmartre where the feel-good-factor is contagious and where many films are shot. Walk down the hill, or rent a citybike, take buses or metros to explore the rest of Paris: Museums, River trip, Eiffel Tower, Latin Quarter, Notre Dame, designer shops, flea market, restaurants, cafés, nightlife and if you have brought the kids, a day-trip to Disneyland is easily do-able.
Other Activities: Sight seeing - Paris, Museums, markets, restaurants, use citybikes, nightlife, etc.
