Andi Brownell, Owner
About Andi Brownell, Owner
My husband, Scott and I live in Greensboro, NC with our three children. Scott is originally from Michigan and I am originally from Georgia. We met in graduate school in Atlanta and the rest is history!
Andi Brownell, Owner purchased this Cottage in 2015
Why Andi Brownell, Owner chose Suttons Bay
We fell in love with the character and curb appeal of this stone cottage and knew it would be so fun to be within walking distance to all of Suttons Bay's amenities.
What makes this Cottage unique
The cottage is located on a nice street in the Village of Suttons Bay. You can walk a couple blocks to the marina, beach, parks, shops and restaurants or hop on the TART trail for a bike ride. Leelanau County has fun activities and events all year and with its convenient village location the cottage is a great year round rental destination.
100% refund for cancellations more than 60 days before check-in date.
Excellent Family Vacation
My kids and I loved our stay on the stone house. Cool home to rent for our summer trip. Very clean and nice. Two blocks to town/beach. Plenty to do in Suttons Bay and the surrounding towns. Highly recommend renting for families, couples etc.
Great location for family vacation!
We loved our stay in Andi’s place! The house is centrally located between Traverse City, Leland and Northport and walking distance to all that Sutton’s Bay has to offer. The kitchen is well equipped and we enjoyed many meals in the home. We would stay again!
I really enjoyed our stay
The place was amazing! Such a great time :)
Great Home - Great Location!
Nicely updated, clean and within walking distance to downtown Suttons Bay. Nice water pressure in the showers, comfy beds, plush towels and state of the art kitchen appliances with all the pots, pans and spices you could possibly need! Loved this place!!!
Great vintage charmer in town near the lake
Home was well-equipped, clean and renovated, including comfy beds. Great place for a girls wine weekend! Will stay again.
Comfortable, well equipped property in the heart of Sutton's Bay
This property is very comfortable. The beds are new and comfortable. The entire interior has been rehabbed and is functional and very clean. The kitchen is perhaps the most well equipped kitchen of any vacation rental I have stayed in. The front porch was great sitting to enjoy morning coffee and an evening glass of wine!
The house is in a quiet neighborhood, yet is a 2 block walk to downtown and about 3 blocks to the Sutton's Bay public beach (a very nice public beach). I ended up going down to the beach 1-2 times per day to take a dip in the bay. It took 10 minutes to walk and less than 2 minutes to rid my bike. We noted several kids between 8-15 riding bikes and scooters in the street safely. Very little road traffic as there is a dead end road to the west of this property so no through traffic.
You are only 3 blocks from the start of the TART for those that like to exercise and ride bikes. The grocery, Hansen's, is also about a 3 block walk or bike ride.
We attended the annual Sutton's Bay Art Festival, went wine tasting, went fishing on a charter in Leeland, spent time swimming, walking, and riding bikes. At the end of our stay we went up to Northport to attend the annual Dog Parade. We shopped at many local farm stands and took advantage of the abundance of fresh food available. We also recommend going to Leeland Cheese company for local, fresh cheese. You can also of course, take a day trip to South Manitou island and also visit Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore (we have done these activities during past visits). Those activities are about a 15 to 30 minute drive from this property.
You really can't go wrong with this property. It's great for families, bachlorette parties, couples sharing a house, a wine tasting get away, or a family reunion like we had.
Things to consider:
Both full bathrooms are on the main level while 2 bedrooms are upstairs (really no way to put a bathroom upstairs in this house).
There are no screens on the front porch. Bugs weren't much of an issue, however, we did need bug spray in the evenings.
Thank you for the review! I am glad you enjoyed your time up north and hope you choose to stay at our cottage again in the future!
Suttons Bay is located in Leelanau County on the Leelanau Peninsula. It is a year round, walkable historic village located on the Grand Traverse Bay coast. The village is full of shops, galleries, restaurants, bars, etc. Marina Park offers a nice beach and playground. The schooner, Inland Seas, is docked on the south side of the marina. There are hiking trails at Bahle Park and the TART trail is on the edge of town so it is easy to get outdoors and hike or bike. In the winter these same trails can be be used for cross country skiing and tubing. The village even creates its own outdoor ice skating rink at a public park located on the same block as our cottage. Suttons Bay is also in the heart of Michigan wine country. Leelanau County is home to 25 wineries. Wine tasting on your own or through the numerous events planned by the Leelanau Peninsula Vintners Association (LPVA) is always a good time!
So pick your adventure – golf, shop, a day at the beach, savor the local fare and award-winning wines. Take your time – catch your breath – relax.
