About the property

3 bedroom, 2 bathroom air conditioned apartment with wifi.

Delightful three bedroom air-conditioned penthouse overlooking a valley with amazing sea and mountain views. Perfect for summer holidays and also winter lets. The apartment has three bedrooms, two full bathrooms and a cloakroom. There is an open-plan living /dining room and kitchen leading to a spacious sunny terrace. A spiral staircase leads to the master en suite bedroom and smaller balcony.

It is a 15 min walk to a lovely beach and restaurant (the walk back uphill takes about 20min but not recommended for people with walking difficulties). Another 5 minutes along Fuengirola's lovely long promenade to bars, restaurants, shops, internet cafe etc. The bus and train services are nearby and give a very good service. There is also a local bus that runs from nearby the property to the town and back several times a day ( but not at weekends).

Fuengirola town reached by foot (about an hour), by the beach train or a few minutes by car.

Benalmadena, another busy resort with it's numerous attractions is a 5 minute drive away.

Wildlife Interest: The apartment overlooks a valley in which a wide variety of birds can be seen. These include Yellow Wagtails, Merlins, Sand Martins, Black Redstart, Whinchats, Rock Buntings, Spotted Flycatcher, Firecrest and many more.

The valley is also a haven for a wide range of plants and butterflies.

We are a retired couple with 2 children and 3 grandchildren. We live in a small village near Wareham in Dorset and spend our holidays in our apartment in Spain whenever we can.

Why Val James chose Fuengirola

We always wanted a property near Fuengirola as we have spent several holidays here in the past. We like to walk along the promenade, where there are plenty of restaurants and cafes. We like the long sandy beaches which are kept very clean. We also like to visit the Miramar shopping centre for window shopping, coffee and doughnuts and for our food shopping.

What makes this apartment unique

We particularly like our own property for the beautiful views, the peace and quiet and the local walks.

It is also close enough to walk to the nice sandy beaches, cafes, bars etc.

Excellent Apartment In Quiet Location Part Two

Five of us were due to fly out but due to unforeseen circumstances one person had to drop out at the last minute so with the four of us in the apartment there was plenty of room and no queue for bathrooms etc.

A rental car would be useful because of the steep climb up but we did it most days as its quite a pleasant walk (All in our mid 30’s and sort of still fit) so anyone with walking difficulties hire a car.

As for the area we hired mopeds for 3 days and travelled along to Benalmadena (has a lovely marina area), Fuengirola and then up into the hills to a lovely place called Mijas. We also did a walk from the apartment down to the sea front and then walked along to Fuengirola which is quite a long walk so would advise train or motorised tram that is out and about during the day plenty of shops bars and restaurants about the place. Most nights we would walk down to the Calypso bar (I think thats what it was called) which is just past Hotel Gardenia and have a drink there first before asking one of the nice girls in there to call us a taxi either into Fuengirola or Benalmadena for our nights out, as it was not the start of season yet it was still relatively quiet so we had time to try out a few good restaurants and bars and had no waiting for tables etc and the bar owners with not been over busy yet were happy to sit and talk even giving us samples of their menus that they were preparing for the new season, I think it was the chef in our party quizzing them on what they use so you might not get to taste as much as we did.

All in all a very pleasant and relaxing holiday was had and would recommend it to anyone and will most likely use again in the future.

We do our best to give advice as to the suitability of the apartment for particular guests and information on the local area etc. We would normally recommend renting a car and can recommend some rental companies based at Malaga airport. However, we have had quite a few guests who have managed without one as some people prefer not to drive on holiday.

Excellent Apartment In Quiet Location Part One

We rented the apartment the first week in June just before the season starts while it’s still nice and quiet the busiest day at the beach was the Sunday when all the Spaniards go out to top up the tan.

Getting there from the airport cost around 45 Euros but unfortunately for us we picked a taxi driver who spoke no English so he spent quite a while lost in Torreblanca looking for a local taxi driver to get directions, it’s actually not a hard place to find but if you don’t speak the lingo things can get tricky trying to instruct the taxi driver where to go. On getting back to the airport it was around 40 Euros, so in my opinion you would be better off hiring a car to get there and back plus you have the use of it for the rest of the week and once at the apartment you have a key to the car park to park it up. I understand the owner will supply directions in Spanish from now on which will make it easier if going by taxi.

The apartment lies within the hills of Torreblanca quite high up so walking is a bit of a hike, it’s in a very quiet location and was a joy to walk into compared to a pokey hotel room. There is toilet on the right as you walk in the front door, next room is a twin bedroom which is a decent size and has plenty of wardrobe space for clothes, next room is the bathroom with toilet followed by another twin bedroom which is slightly smaller than the first. You then enter the open plan living room/ dining room. It has all the mod cons washer, cooker, fridge and microwave etc., everything you need possible to be self catering. Upstairs is the master bedroom which is very large and could fit travel cots in if taking the children; it is also ensuite and has its own terrace which is smaller than the main one but just as pleasant.

The apartment has air conditioning in the living room and a portable unit that was in the master bedroom which kept the place cool no problems. The terrace from the living room was spacious and has a nice view of the mountains around Torreblanca again very quiet and relaxing and very private if you just want to spend your day sunbathing, both walls on the terraces are high so they are safe for children to be outside. Everything within the apartment is 10 out of 10 and I couldn’t grumble about a single thing. There was a pool at the apartment block but it was not in use for our visit but I believe it will be back in use in the near future.

We can arrange airport transfer which is a bit cheaper than taxis and the driver knows the way ! We had a wonderful stay at your apartment. Everything went according to plan and a lovely Birthday celebration for my Father. As a bonus it was also sunny and warm.

Bien situé sur la côte andalouse

Grand appartement, ses trois chambres, deux salles de bains complètes sont appréciables. Cependant, plusieurs matelas sont très inconfortables, les draps très usés ( les élastiques ne tiennent plus les draps en place). La propreté laisse à désirer. Il suffirait d investir un peu dans la literie et de faire un grand ménage pour que cet appartement soit parfait.

Owner's Response: We're glad these guests enjoyed their stay overall, but disappointed they have found some of the mattresses uncomfortable. We are in the process of replacing all of them shortly. On consideration, the bedding probably does need replacing which will be put in hand immediately. The apartment is cleaned from top to bottom before and after each guest but we will speak to our agent to get this problem addressed.

Fuengirola is a busy town with many attractions. The wide sandy beaches are extensive with a lovely long promenade and beach side cafes. There are many shops, banks, bars, cafes and international restaurants and lively night-life. There is also a very popular market, an aquapark and a large zoo.

IiFuengirola castle is well worth a visit.

Benalmadena has one of the best marinas in the world with a variety of shops and restaurants. The wide sandy beaches and promenade continue to Torremolinos and there are many beach side cafes, gift shops and restaurants along the way. La Paloma park is very popular. It has a large lake and fountain with a variety of animals roaming freely - chickens, rabbits, ducks peacocks etc.

Tivoli world has many amusements, inculding shows, rides,exhibitions, and cable car up to wildlife centre. Selwo Marina in Benalmadena covers a large site with various well-presented shows and exhibition areas featuring dolphins, penguins and more.

The village of Mijas is nearby and for those you enjoy walking, it is possible to walk up the hill from the apartment to Mijas via footpaths across the countryside.
