Postcard Christmas!

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved our stay at Curt and Katie's chalet! The accommodations were spacious and comfortable, and the views were breathtaking! Our host and hostess were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The chalet is a 20-30 minute drive into the San Isabel National Forest (was winter and likely faster depending on road conditions) so it is far enough in to feel like we were getting away from it all but close enough to nearby Buena Vista and Salida to allow us to visit local restaurants and shops. The Goat Farm just outside of Buena Vista is a really neat place, and they sell some wonderful, locally made cheese and honey. The snowmobiling and dog sledding tours in nearby Monarch Ski Area are also quite an experience! We loved being able to spend a half day enjoying an activity and retreating back to the chalet to wind down, play cards and warm up by the fire. A short drive up the mountain to nearby St. Elmo was also a really neat experience as we got a glimpse of what life was like in the old days. Thanks to Curt and Katie for making our Christmas break one to remember!

Magical!

  • 5 of 5

Reserved the home to meet our son & daughter and a 'couple' of there college friends to climb Mt Antero. A 'couple' turned into 10 and the home absorbed us all great - a few kids slept on the floor but they are young:! Had one of the best weekends I can remember! Loved our dinners around the family table & there was lots of outdoor seating with great mountain views. Fire pit was used nightly - location to trailhead was perfect and the home owners were gracious and friendly , yet we had privacy... Would return with or without the 'extended' family!

Unbelievably Beautiful and Unique

  • 5 of 5

This vacation home greatly exceeded expectations, even though we expected it to be wonderful. It is in a very scenic area, with golden Aspen and stately evergreens surrounding it. Being at the foot of Mt. Antero, there were wonderful mountain views. The home was architecturally unique inside. There were many interestingly designed ceilings with a variety of angles and rafters. There were different types of lighting in the rooms with dimming for any mood you might like.

Katie, one of the owners, was very helpful and a friendly hostess who made herself available for any questions or needs.

The kitchen was very modern with top appliances. The living room and bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. There is no cell service here in the mountains, but satellite TV and Internet are provided. There is a front deck and a side deck which are enjoyable to sit on to enjoy the outdoors and birds in the trees and small pond. We used the grill to make great steaks for supper.

The cabin is only about 20 minutes from Nathrop with only the last 3 miles being a gravel road. The road goes by the Chalk Cliffs which are amazing. We felt so relaxed and peaceful, that we just stayed in the cabin and surroundings for the 3 nights that we were there. We enjoyed the babbling creek which is a short walk from the cabin. We will definitely return to this retreat at the first opportunity.

Colorado Gold

  • 5 of 5

We went to Colorado to ride our ATV's in the mountains and this is a great location for that. The house is well represented in the photos and has a nice large parking area for trucks and trailers carrying ATV's. The owners are very nice and easy to get along with. The property has three homes on it, they rent out two of the homes and live in the other. We traveled with friends of ours who rented the other cabin on the property. Both homes are very nice. This home is much newer than the other cabin but I could have stayed in either one of them with no complaints. The creek access is nice, they have a bench down by the water and a bench swing just above that looking out onto the creek. They also have fire pits at both homes which we used for evening gatherings.

Great place, great time!

Beautiful property with a lovely owner.

Recommend highly. Only negative was the absence of coffee at the house. Would be a nice touch. Otherwise, great place and very nice owner. She was friendly and available but not overbearing.
