Please check the state size regulations as they may change each year. The house is on a hill up from the ocean. You can even walk out to one island at low tide! Walk for miles by the ocean and explore the tidal pools for starfish, crabs and wildlife, boat landing, bring kayak, canoe, or boat to explore many offshore islands, some had native American settlements, you can see many herds of seals sunning themsevles on the rock ledges by the offshore islands if you go out to the islands by boat, great fishing off rocks in front of house at low tide by channel. place for campfire. 2 ocean sea kayaks, 2 seats each, Old Town and Perception with child seat also, and a 4 person canoe are provided free for your use, please lock them up in the basement after each use, there is high speed internet so bring a laptop if you want to watch TV and keep up with the news in the outside world

Bald eagles are being sighted frequently since the winter and spring of 2012 at low tide by the ocean and apparently they go fishing as a pair to fed their eaglets that must be high up in a tree behind the cottages, they fly overhead above the trees year round now, many types of bushes and flowers and plants have been planted in the last few years, by the houses and on the way to the ocean, 3 types of lavender including the one used to make perfume, 4 different flowering colors each of heather and butterfly bushes, foxglove, menardis and osobe, many of which draw hummingbirds and butterflies in season and other varieties of flowers.

Take advantage of the lobster! You can buy some from a local lobsterman and prepare it yourself! South Thomaston is located 5 miles from Rockland, the 'Lobster Capital'. 40% of Lobsters in the state are caught in this county!, the best way to cook lobster is in ocean salt water, self cleaning oven, also there is a place for a campfire and logs cut in the woods for use in the campfire or may be split for use in the woodstove

My family and I have been saying at this cottage on Pleasant Beach for more than 10 years. It fits our family of five comfortably with room to spare. The beach and cove are right outside the door, and it has nice water views. It is a great place to spend the day but is also within striking distance of all the major attractions, including Port Clyde, Spruce Head, Rockland, the Camden Hill State Park and a half-dozen light houses. It's the perfect place for a family of day-trippers who want to hike, go to the beach, or access some of the best restaurants the area has to offer. It is extremely affordable and is located along a quiet cove away from the crowds. Truly one of the most beautiful places on Earth.

Maranatha Cottage

My wife and I have stayed in this cottage during the last three summers while we were taking classes at a woodworking school in nearby Rockport, Maine. The cottage has always met our needs comfortably. The surrounding area is very peaceful and the views of the rocky seashore are very beautiful. The kitchen is well-equipped with whatever might be needed to prepare a meal but we frequently ate our dinners at one of the many restaurants in the vicinity. The beds are comfortable but as others have written you should provide your own pillows and linens. Overall it provides a comfortable place to stay while you explore the beautiful mid-coast of Maine and is very reasonably priced.

2016 Family Vacation

  • 3 of 5

Overall it was a resonable accomodation for the price. There were a few unexpected events, but nothing that reuined our vacation. We had to leave a few days earlier than expected due to personal issues. Wi-fi is not that strong and not always available throughout the cottage. The place is only as clean as the last person who stayed there, so it was not as clean as we would have liked. But we mopped and swept and scrubbed when we got there and before we left. There is not an actual beach, but a boat launch only. But you can take the kayak out from there. You will need to carry it a ways from the cottage. However the beds are very comfortable and it is very peaceful and quiet. Also a new large gas grill was available that the ow er purchased just a few weeks prior to our stay. You will need to bring your own linens and towels. Beautiful sunsets and sunrises. Downtown Rockland is only about 10 minutes away with lots of lovely shops.

Fraudulent description

  • 1 of 5

In fairness to the owner, when the place proved unsuitable for us, he refunded our money. Be warned that there are no spectacular views, no beach view, no ocean view from this rental property. The owner has another property with the same name close by, with water views. Renters for the smaller cottage must bring their own sheets & pillowcases.

Comfy and cozy

Really enjoyed a week here in the autumn of 2015. It was a perfect spot for watercolor painting and seeing the local sights! Enjoyed the beach very much and the nightly breeze coming off the ocean.

Pleasant cottage

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I enjoyed a two week stay in the Maranatha Cottage in late August and early September. The cottage sits behind the larger house that’s also available as a rental from the same owner. The cottage has a well equipped kitchen with a new refrigerator and stove and although there were only two of us, there is ample sleeping space for a larger group. The cottage sits a few dozen feet further back from the water than the main house but there’s a lovely view of the sunrise over the water from the master bedroom window. The two properties sit at the water’s edge at the end of a cul-de-sac so it’s very quiet and peaceful throughout the day. This was a working vacation and we were away each day until evening, so we especially enjoyed sipping a glass of wine on the beach at sunset. While the location feels remote, good restaurants, shopping and services are available a few miles away in Thomaston or Rockland. The excellent Slipway restaurant at the marina in Thomaston should not be missed. We had comfortable and enjoyable stay in the cottage and felt that it was very reasonably priced.
