Would rent again if in the area
We enjoyed our stay in Eastport. This cottage was a nice home base for our day trips to Moosehorn NWR, Campobello Island, Quoddy Bay and Lubec, as well as St. John New Brunswick and Saint Andrews. We enjoyed the Lobster Bake and Seafood Chowder at the Happy Crab in downtown Eastport as well as the lobster roll and a 3 1/2 pound lobster at Quoddy Bay Lobster. The downtown bakery is very good and Raye's mustard is unique and worth stopping in to sample and purchase some of their mustard. We brought several jars home to give to friends and they have been a hit. As clearly stated in the listing, this place is small but was more than adequate for the two of us and our small dog.
Fantastic view of the bay from the deck
The place is very small. Not good for more than 2 people. Three single beds are too small for adults and take up to much space.. They should be replaced with one queen size bed to leave room to hang up clothes and for a chest of drawers.
Closest place to do laundry is 30 miles away in Calais. This place is OK for a short stay but not for more tha a week.
Beautiful place and people
We stay there for a week. it is just beautiful and relax.
It is true...ocean view, whale watching, Campobello, Quoddy Head, Lobster and lots of artists. Yes, lots of Artists. That surprise me very much.
Absolutely stunning views!!!
The home was fully stocked with everything needed to be away from home! Eastport is a beautiful little city! Will stay here again!!
Relaxing by the water on the Maine coast
The stay was a quiet relaxing time. There were a few glitches that were unexpected. There was no internet available and the there was no cell service. The TV set was old and the picture quality was poor. All of the facilities, water, heat and kitchen equipment were adequate and working OK. Overall we enjoyed our stay.
There is cell phone coverage at our cottage, and a U.S. tower in the Eastport area. The cottage is across the bay from New Brunswick, and you may pick up the closest Canadian tower. Most carriers would remove any international fee since the cottage is physically in the U.S. We suggest notifying your carrier prior to your trip and let them know that you will be vacationing near the U.S.-Canadian border.
There is Wi-Fi coverage at our cottage. We were in the process of changing Internet providers, and technicians could not turn on service when it was scheduled.
The television has been replaced with a new model. There was a button pressed on the previous TV that was the cause of the fuzzy picture. We apologize for any inconvenience this caused you.
Clean, relaxing, unpretentious cottage
My wife and I have enjoyed this small, clean and unpretentious cottage more than a few times. We have not experienced winter here yet but, we have stayed here in the Spring, Summer and Fall and have not been disappointed yet.
Sitting on the deck can be an adventure in some ways. One time it can be a couple of whales fishing .... or, loons and ducks and comically squabbling gulls sharing fishing territory.... or, a bald eagle soaring overhead, only to serendipitously descend and perch in the pine tree next to the cottage.
One of the most impressive things this year was breakfast at the Waco Diner....best blueberry pancakes ever! Definitely worth the eight hour drive!
When it is time to leave, we take one last ritual walk out on the deck for a quiet survey, knowing that we are happier and more relaxed and grounded than when we arrived. Always a little saddened to leave; wondering what interesting event will capture our attention next year....?
