The House

Harmony lives here...the house keeps you in touch with the surrounding elements in such subtle ways that you wonder why you feel so good . A spacious veranda waits to accommodate your drifting moods and a large green cushion of a lawn extends down to your own private beach cove. Here, you can decide whether to launch off in to the crystal blue seas using the kayaks perched by your side, or just melt gently into the warm caribbean sea.

The Grounds

Centering the garden is a huge sea grape tree, from which the house has fetched its name. With its broad leaves and natural canopy extending to the edge of a rock crested pool. You can rest blissfully in a shaded hammock. while observing your children at play. Behind the house is a private tennis court which may be lit for games in the cool of the night.

The Rooms

There are three bedrooms in the main house ~ two upstairs, one downstairs. Cheerful colours and tasteful art play on the walls. In the adjacent cottage, just a couple steps away from the front entrance lay two smaller bedrooms. Seagrapes manages to maintain that warm homelike feeling while also being an extraordinary place - nothing overstated, but everything in balance - like the sea, sun and wind..

The Location

Seagrapes is a 60 minute ride along the scenic North Coast Highway. Just enough time to let you unwind and take a look at your new surroundings. As you pass through small villages and quaint countryside shops you are carefully being transported into the vacation of which dream are made.

The Staff

With staff gracefully appearing at the perfect moment to address your needs, you may dare to say that Seagrapes offers something unique - a magical world, all of its own.

The Staff

The staff are the soul of any villa. It is often your villa staff, with their lively humour and willing ways that you remember most fondly about your entire villa experience.

Your butler is Robbie, who discretely appears at the right moment with your drink in the evening and resurfaces in the early morning tending to your garden in an entirely different role.

Your house keeper, Laura Lee , always has a ready smile during any part of her lovingly attentive work keeping up with your family holiday.

Blossom, your assistant housekeeper, whom you are not sure if she is really there until you ask for her, them she appears before you know it.

Kurline - the house manager.

Nothing passes Kurline unnoticed. She has a keen eye on everything that will keep your holiday running seamlessly.

She operates quietly from the kitchen , but is firmly in charge as she defines the next flavour you are about to experience.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We are back, and it was incredible! We had the best time - nobody wanted to leave. See the attached photos. The villa was great, the staff was great and the food was out of this world. We did not eat out one time - not one!! Why would we!?

Kurline, Robbie, Laura Lee and Blossom were outstanding. I know I gained 10 lbs will I was there. We had grilled mahi mahi the first night - awesome! We did not think each meal could be any better, but we were wrong!

Each morning, fresh fruit and great Jamaican coffee. And Robbie kept the drinks coming all day - my kids loved that (Meg & I did too!!).

The snorkeling out front was great as well -- I found and brought home many shells and treasures. I know that I was in the water at least 3 hours a day -- only stopping to eat a great meal or consume a cool, refreshing beverage made by Robbie - life was good!!

What a great place - we are already looking at the calendar for our return trip and several friends are inquiring as well.

The Harts called to check on us a couple of times as well, which we appreciated very much.

It was nice knowing they were available if need be.

Thank you for all that you did. When you come to Greensboro, let us know so that we can show you more photos. Thank you.

Best time ever

  • 5 of 5

We have been blessed to spend time throughout the Caribbean, and we must say that Seagrapes was one of the our most favorite properties. The staff was so incredible, always available, kind and the food fantastic! The property is just what we wanted; beautiful, calm, spacious, and so private. We loved the ability to do all of the water sports we wanted without any extra effort. I hope we are back often and the ease to get to Jamaica and then to the property from the airport was an extra bonus. Finally, we had the opportuntity to meet the ownder, Sheila, who was just lovely!

Great place to both lounge and wander

  • 5 of 5

Sea Grapes is about as nice a vacation house as you can get – in Jamaica or

anywhere. It’s a large beautiful house that sleeps a large number of

people. The grounds and the views are nothing short of spectacular.

It’s hard not to want to spend all your time lounging in the hammocks,

overlooking a magnificent view of Discovery Bay. But if one wants to be

active, there’s plenty to do. Sea Grapes keeps a fleet of kayaks for

the guests to explore the bay in. One can dive off the wooden dock and

explore the sea life with snorkeling gear also kept on the premises.

There’s also a pool, a badminton court, a basketball court, and a

well-maintained tennis court.

All of this means that guests could be perfectly happy, never leaving

the compound (where the staff makes sure that everyone is always very

safe-feeling). But I particularly liked that, unlike some villas in

Jamaica, it’s easy to take walks and partake in the local life of the

region. A short walk down Fortlands road will take you to a collection of

mainly locals beach bar shacks. Walk a little further and you can attend a

rollicking church service if you so inclined. (I did and felt very

welcomed.) A little further still is the town of Discovery Bay with

grocery stores, a crumbling old wharf and two island-renown jerk

restaurants down the road. There are also beautiful empty natural coves to

walk to.

The very best part staying at Sea Grapes, however, is the staff.

Robbie, Blossom, and Laralee makes guests feel like kings and queens, and

are fun to hang out with at the same time. And Kurlene the cook’s food

is, well…the best food in the world.

All in all, a magical place.

Exceeds Expectations! The Best Vacation EVER!

  • 5 of 5

Uplifting, rejuvenating, peaceful, home, all words to describe our time at Seagrapes. The sweet smiling faces of the wonderful staff waiting for us upon arrival in the driveway. Kerlene's fantastic cooking, Robbie's pina coladas, Lauralee's gentle spirit and kindnesses to our children and grandchildren, Blossom's lovely and quiet manner and George's strong evening strolls with morning greetings - how lucky we were to have chosen Seagrapes to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary with our children and grandchildren.

There was something for all of the ages 76,74,45,43,43,41,13,11,11,8 - when does that ever happen? The pool was fantastic, pool toys were great, 3 kayaks and 2 paddle boards were always in motion, snorkleing directly in front of the villa was the BEST - who knew? Volleyball on the side lawn, hammocks under the trees, tennis and basketball, no end to the provisions at Seagrapes. We dealt directly with Tony and Sheila, the owners, who were wonderful, so accommodating, even adding a basketball hoop to the tennis court at the request of my grandson. Even though they were travelling abroad, they checked with us several times to make sure all was well. We all felt like we were "at home" while we were there, in our own home. The ocean was magical, the colours were amazing, and the submarine submerging in the bay was truly unbelievable. Sheila arranged transportation for us, pickup and dropoff at the airport as well as some really fun outings during the time we were at Seagrapes. Our driver Norval became our friend, he gave us some great recommendations for outings and he was always there, just waiting for us with a big smile and friendly stories, we were so sad to leave him. Lauralee tended to sunburns by cutting stalks off the aloe plant and gently swabbing the burns, just amazing, kind, gentle Lauralee.

The gardens were beautiful as was the awesome Seagrapes tree, lots of room for everyone to roam and wander as well as three gazebos to chose from to sit and sip your cool drinks gazing at beautiful Discovery Bay, looking forward to the night time swims with the grandchildren. The house is terrific, doors are open, breezes moving through, bathrooms for all and bedrooms with A/C. Breakfast, lunch and dinner, fresh flowers at each place setting, with new and exciting dishes to try, it was a joy to experience. We spent 11 wonderful days at Seagrapes and will never forget it.

Best Vacation EVER !!!!!! Thanks for the memories.

Wow, wow, wow!!!

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from staying at Seagrapes for 1 week. Before we even left home, we felt well taken care of by the owners, Tony & Sheila. They contacted us via email and phone several times. They arranged our airport transfer to Seagrapes, a man named Norval, who they hand-picked for us. He was fantastic. We used him several more times throughout the week. Upon arrival to the house we were greeted in the driveway by the staff, who had genuine welcoming smiles on their faces. They immediately set the tone of "you're on vacation, let us do the work!" Robbie had drinks ready for us, Laura Lee showed us the house, and Blossom brought fresh towels out to the pool, all within 10 minutes of us arriving. Kurline made us a pasta dish for lunch, and as I pushed away from the table, I realized that it was the first time that I felt TRULY RELAXED while on a vacation. The staff at Seagrapes is PHENOMENAL. I cannot say enough about each individual. Kurline's meals were a treat. The food she made was simply delicious. My children, who usually eat burgers or chicken fingers and french fries while on vacation, gobbled up every meal. Kurline spoke with me on day 2 to find out our likes and dislikes. She made the best steak that I have ever had. It was a pleasure to interact with Robbie and Laura Lee, both of whom have a gentle and kind way about them. Laura Lee noticed that my son's face was sunburned. She went outside and cut fresh aloe and cooled it in the fridge so that we could apply it to his burn. Robbie taught my son how to fold napkins for the table. He took us on a walk to a beautiful cove where we collected shells and sand dollars. George the gardner, was discreet and always had kind words to say about my family. Blossom, discreet in her own way, made sure that our living quarters and laundry were perfect. Tony & Sheila checked in several times during our stay to make sure that we were happy. Tony even met us at the Good Hope Estate and gave us a tour of the amazing property. I am a self proclaimed homebody. Usually by day 3 of a vacation, I've seen it all and I'm ready to go home. NOT this time. I was so sad to leave and cannot wait to return. 1 week was not enough. There was so much for all of us (ages 66, 42, 41, 11, 9, 5) to do on the property... snorkeling on the reef, playing on the beach, kayaking, SUP, the pool, badminton, tennis, basketball, tree swing, hammock, delicious meal after meal, and exploring the property's flora and fauna. PURE BLISS.

The Perfect Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

My family has been renting various villas in Jamaica for about 20 years as part of our Christmas gifts to our three children and their children. I believe that by unanimous consent, our time at SeaGrapes was the best of all.

Our timing was great, for in addition to the wonderful welcome and daily scrumptious meals, July 5th to the 12th turned out to be the end of the Wimbledon Tennis Tournament and the World Cup Soccer Tournament. Most of our family play tennis and there were many night doubles matches after we watched tennis on TV. All of us are huge soccer fans and Robbie was a great World Cup commentator, as well as a super host.

We became quick friends with super chef Kurline and her partners Laura Lee and Blossom. From the moment we arrived the staff made sure we were all comfortable in our rooms, making extra effort to arrange a special accommodations in a cottage room for all four boys.

And the setting is glorious! The sprawling yard is like a park with something for everyone: the inlet and beach for snorkeling and kayaking, the pool which was nearly always full, the gazebos for watching the beautiful sunsets in the dusk, the hammocks and lounge chairs for resting and reading. We may not be wealthy but we felt like millionaires in our “tucked away from the crowd” paradise.

We knew that other guests had raved about the meals and our experience was no different.

Many of us cruised into the kitchen to sample upcoming delights or the already available cookies and pastries. Kurline also whipped up a fantastic birthday cake for one of our crew. We were made to feel very much “at home” by this staff who were always, but unobtrusively, available. When we asked one of our grandsons what surprised him the most about SeaGrapes, he said, “the place.” When we asked him what he liked best, he said, “the people.” I’m sure we would all agree with that sentiment.

Will we come to SeaGrapes again? Already we are saving up our vacation money and looking for a time when our scattered and busy family can get away.

We read some articles that showed that the Hart family is a legend in Jamaica. You are also legendary in making your guests feel special. Thanks to you, Sheila and Tony.

Perfect Island Getaway!!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I just returned from a week in Discovery Bay with 4 friends. SeaGrapes was just the escape from the cold we needed! The villa is comfortable and relaxed and the staff could not have been more helpful and attentive. From the hot thermos of coffee ready when we woke up in the morning, to the cold thermos of water by our beds at night, we felt pampered all day long. We ate dinner under the beach side gazebo two of the nights and Robbie made awesome Margaritas or Rum Punch at sunset. We love to swim and to paddle board and the water was calm and crystal clear except for one day when there was a bit of a swell. Great vacation!!
