Vacation with out having to do anything but relax. Take long walks, get back to nature, kids really enjoy being outdoors fishing, running around without worrying about cars .
Keywords: Waterfront cabin 10 miles east of Wichita, just off of I-35, exit #57 on the Kansas Turnpike (Andover area). Cabin over looks the Indianola waterway on two sides, surrounded by large trees. Cabin was completly updated 2010. Living room has a wood stove to sit around and visit with friends, cozy up to a good book or watch a movie. Furnished with a queen sofa sleeper and a loft that can sleep up to three young children (3 twin mattress) just like 200 years ago. The master bedroom has a queen bed with a sitting area that can be divided into another sleep area just of the screened in porch overlooking the water. What a place to have a drink, watch a sunset or maybe a fisherman work the water.
The kitchen is well equipped, with concrete countr tops and bar, off to the side a romantic dinning area with a great view of the waterway.
This partner has demonstrated and is committed to fast response times, the best rates, and a great guest experience.
Helen and I married in 1972 , raised 3 children, now have 9 grand children. We travel a lot ourselves all throughout the crountry going to art showes to sell our metal art work.
Helen Turner or Wendell Turner purchased this cabin in 1987
We raised our family in the same area, wanted a get away from the city but yet close enough for dinners out, theaters, music concerts and shopping. The cabin is close to Wichita but close to nature.
It's quite, you can see all kinds of wild life (making for good pictures). Canoeing (great exerise) taking a pontoon trip down stream. Beautiful large trees (great picture taking). Fishing off your pier. like going to the movies no cell phone needed.
Beautiful, comfortable, clean and charming.
This is a great location and the view is very pretty. The house is quaint inside, well made up and if you aren't claustrophobic and willing to sleep in the upper bunks could sleep several. Bed is comfortable, bathroom is good, and location is very out of the way.
There is one minus: bringing cell phones I was unable to get any reception (AT&T or Sprint) beyond 1 bar. Often could not get SMS/TXT or any data (Period). This would be managable, except the fact the house also has no WiFi, so pretty much, if you are here you are cut off from the outside world.
That could be a great perk, but admittedly, meant for us we did a lot of walking out toward the road where we could get two bars of service to occassionally update our email. (I know, modern world)
Everything was so lovely. A beautiful property. Pics do not do it justice. The owners were so very pleasant and professional. This is a secluded property with neighbors but plenty of privacy. There is a huge Dillions Marketplace store about six miles away which was wonderful as we didnt have to travel with our food. Cabin had everything we needed to do our own cooking and live like we do at home. There are restaurants if you want to drive to town. We did not have tv cable or gas grill but I believe it was due to severe weather which preceeded us there- we didnt miss tv and it looked like a gas grill knob was left on- so we bought charcoal instead! The grill has both and was nice. We didn't kayak but they were there and we saw other people canoeing if that interests you. This property is suitable for families and also perfect for a romantic getaway. I hope to visit again soon. It sure didnt feel like Kansas and was similar to upstate NY - so pretty
My family and I had a nice stay here. It's part of a creekside community where some of the houses appear to be vacation cabins. It was reasonably quiet, with lots of birds and squirrels running around enjoying all the trees. My son and I had a lot of fun paddling around in the two kayaks they had there, and my wife and I enjoyed sitting in the screened in deck off the bedroom. My son loved sleeping in the loft, though I was very nervous about the possibility that he was going to roll off the edge or through the access hole in the middle of the night. I solved that with a board I had in the car and covered the hole and put one of the extra sleeping mats on it to hold it in place. If you are an anxious parent, or your kids don't like heights the loft won't be of much use for you. The floors were an accurate barometer of the temperature outside, bring slippers if staying in colder months. In fact bring them anyway, the slate floor tiles have some edge height mismatches and it'll save you some stubbed toes. The rooms are spacious and nicely furnished, the wood burning stove was an awesome way to stay cozy in the living room, and the deck is a nice place to hang out when the weather is good.
Location was convenient for a quick trip into Andover (11min) or even Wichita(20-25min) for food, entertainment, or shopping. If you get to downtown Wichita, try Doo-Dah's Diner for some of the best diner food you've ever had.
We ate most of our meals at the cabin, the only complaint I had making meals was I wished there was a bigger frying pan and baking sheet, but was able to do what I needed to with just a little extra time. House has full size fridge, but no dishwasher, if that sort of thing bothers you.
Overall a nice place to be for a few days, we all wished we had booked one more night than we had so we could have done some more relaxing there.
We had a very relaxing and wonderful time. We grilled on the BBQ and fished in the river. Everything we needed was available. Owners were very helpful and pleasant. We would definitely love to stay here again.
We spent three nights at the cabin. The Turner's are easy to communicate with and were extremely helpful with the several requests we had. The property is adjacent to another cabin but has a large lawn with the waterway circling around it, promoting the quiet feeling of the outdoors. A highlight of the cabin is the many hang-out nooks with comfortable chairs. The screened-in porch in the back was especially nice.
The bed was great. The grill on the deck is both charcoal and gas--a definite win! (We used both.) They have two kayaks available for use on the waterway. The cabin was bigger than we needed for the two of us.
This is a place I'd recommend to anyone wanting a quiet place to get away from the noise.
