Photos and Description of this 1 bedroom holiday cabin in Andover

Cabin, 1 Bedroom + Loft + Den, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 8)

Vacation with out having to do anything but relax. Take long walks, get back to nature, kids really enjoy being outdoors fishing, running around without worrying about cars .

Keywords: Waterfront cabin 10 miles east of Wichita, just off of I-35, exit #57 on the Kansas Turnpike (Andover area). Cabin over looks the Indianola waterway on two sides, surrounded by large trees. Cabin was completly updated 2010. Living room has a wood stove to sit around and visit with friends, cozy up to a good book or watch a movie. Furnished with a queen sofa sleeper and a loft that can sleep up to three young children (3 twin mattress) just like 200 years ago. The master bedroom has a queen bed with a sitting area that can be divided into another sleep area just of the screened in porch overlooking the water. What a place to have a drink, watch a sunset or maybe a fisherman work the water.

The kitchen is well equipped, with concrete countr tops and bar, off to the side a romantic dinning area with a great view of the waterway.

About Helen Turner or Wendell Turner

Helen and I married in 1972 , raised 3 children, now have 9 grand children. We travel a lot ourselves all throughout the crountry going to art showes to sell our metal art work.

Helen Turner or Wendell Turner purchased this cabin in 1987

Why Helen Turner or Wendell Turner chose Kansas

We raised our family in the same area, wanted a get away from the city but yet close enough for dinners out, theaters, music concerts and shopping. The cabin is close to Wichita but close to nature.

What makes this cabin unique

It's quite, you can see all kinds of wild life (making for good pictures). Canoeing (great exerise) taking a pontoon trip down stream. Beautiful large trees (great picture taking). Fishing off your pier. like going to the movies no cell phone needed.

Clean, well-maintained, well-stocked, and peaceful.

We spent three nights at the cabin. The Turner's are easy to communicate with and were extremely helpful with the several requests we had. The property is adjacent to another cabin but has a large lawn with the waterway circling around it, promoting the quiet feeling of the outdoors. A highlight of the cabin is the many hang-out nooks with comfortable chairs. The screened-in porch in the back was especially nice.

The bed was great. The grill on the deck is both charcoal and gas--a definite win! (We used both.) They have two kayaks available for use on the waterway. The cabin was bigger than we needed for the two of us.

This is a place I'd recommend to anyone wanting a quiet place to get away from the noise.

We had a great week at the cabin.

  • 5 of 5

This property is rustic but very nice and clean. We were amazed at how good the fishing was - the kids had a blast. It was very peaceful with lots of wildlife. It's also very convenient to Andover shopping with Wichita close by via the Turnpike. The only downside for us was poor cell phone coverage (but then again it forced us to unplug some).

Very nice and cozy cabin

Loved the layout of the cabin and how spacey it was for me and my two boys. It was very nice and hope to go back again here soon.

Our mini-vacation

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time at the Wagon Wheel Ranch! The cabin was more than we expected and it accommodate all of us perfectly. There is nothing we would change at all! The kids had a wonderful time kayaking and even my 5 year old granddaughter got to do it on her own! When the storm came, it gave all of us a chance to sit in the living room and talk about coming back this summer. Taking a morning walk and listening to natures voices (birds and squirrels) was revitalizing. We will come back in a month or two and are recommending the place to our friends and family! I want to give a special thanks to Helen for letting me bring my special babies.

P.S. we did not find the trash bags until we were ready to leave, but there was plenty of plastic bags that we use for the trash, it is not a complaint, just an explanation of why we use grocery bags.

Great Cabin!

  • 5 of 5

This is a great place to stay! Highly recommended for a quiet getaway for two or a great family retreat filled with fishing, canoeing, campfires, etc. Very close to grocery stores and anything one might want to do in Wichita. Wendell and Helen have done a great job with everything!!

Perfect for us!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed 3 nights in the "romantic cabin" and 5 nights in the A-frame. We were expecting much more rustic conditions based on the photographs. Not so rustic at all! Both units were beautifully decorated and very comfortable for us. We were delighted. The owners are hands-on and very helpful and personable. I would highly recommend a stay in either unit.

Cabin sets on a private ranch with over two miles of tree covered roadways for walking or you can find lots of trails off the path for an adventures walk with nature. Take a lazy float down the Indianola by canoe paddling from shade tree to shade tree, maybe do a little fishing on your way, but again you could bring your boat and float down the river into a nice lake for a morning of skiing than back out in the evening for a night of star qazing all from your boat. Privat beach and fishing avaliable.
