Extraordinary views and total serenity at 3400 feet elevation, yet only 15 minutes to heart of Asheville and Biltmore Estate. 3850 square feet of marvelous house on 5 private acres. Huge covered deck to gather and enjoy the view. Master suite and two large bedrooms upstairs. Each bedroom has its own bath. Master suite upstairs has large private covered porch with breathtaking views. Large fully equipped kitchen on main floor with all amenities. A den with sofa bed and french doors to the porch. Main floor also includes large living room with huge stone fireplace. On the lower level there is another master suite with large private bath and game room with ping pong and foosball. Corn hole boards outside. House is in semi-gated community with paved access to your door. Complete tranquillity all around you.
This house has been a home to us for many years and we have loved every minute of it. Now that our children are grown and we have downsized to a smaller home nearby, we would like to share the beauty and peace of the mountain with our guests. My wife teaches at a local university and I work in quality control for a national corporation with offices in this region. We love nature and enjoy hiking the fantastic trails in the area. We also love to travel, especially to Italy. We like to make our guests comfortable and be there whenever they need us while also giving them their space and privacy. We are only four miles away if they ever need anything.
Sam & Laura purchased this house in 2003
We love the tranquillity and beauty of the mountain. In every season there is something beautiful to witness. The chance to be so close to the natural world has been a great blessing to us and has enriched our lives in ways that cannot be expressed in words.
The chance to watch the changing view of the valley and distant mountains, to hear the wood thrush in the morning and evening, to hike the trails and be in the natural world ,while also having easy access to downtown Asheville, the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Biltmore House, Cataloochee ski resort, white water rafting, and all of the other great attractions in the Western North Carolina mountains has been one of the best things about life on the mountain.
Our family spent a week in this home and it was perfect, better than I imagined. The pictures do not do the house justice, I would actually suggest they have new pictures taken and posted!!!! We knew we were in for a special time when we walked in to find fresh cut flowers on the kitchen and dining tables! We were a family of 7 adults and a 10 month old but there was never a time that we felt on top of each other or that we needed to find our own space. Between the four different seating areas on the wrap around porch, with amazing views, there were four different seating areas inside the house, not to mention that two of the bedrooms are very spacious and have seating areas and private outside areas as well. The owners were very attentive and helpful. It was a chilly week and they came to restock our firewood supply and did a trash run for us. If there was a need they could meet I know they would do it, and happily. The driveway was not difficult to navigate and there is plenty of parking space to turn around so you aren't backing down the driveway. Also, the roads up the mountain were not narrow or scary, even for this "flatlander" from Florida!
The kitchen is well stocked and there are plenty of linens. They had sample shampoo, conditioner, lotion, toothpaste, and mouthwash in each bathroom so if you forgot something you didn't have to rush out get anything. There are plenty of spices, olive oil, and the like so do a full survey of the kitchen before you go out and purchase groceries.
The only regret we have is that we didn't spend more down time enjoying the house and each other playing games, reading, and sitting around the roaring fire.
This will definitely be a home we hope to return to with family and friends in the future. The location, views, and spacious yet cozy feeling are just what you want in a vacation home near Asheville. The attentive owners were the cherry on the top!
Great 4 bedroom escape with two master bedrooms and plenty of great views! Main level has kitchen, living, dining, and two fireplaces. Upstairs has master and two guest bedrooms. Basement has additional master and ping pong and foosball tables. The thoughtfulness of the owners was great - multiple pack and plays for those with kids, soap, shampoo, toothpaste, and mouthwash with the linens in the bathroom. House is up a steep hill with switchback roads, but it’s worth it when you get to the top and see the view. Amazing wraparound porch on the main level, and private porch for master sweet upstairs. Overall a great place with owners who were willing to do whatever necessary to make the stay exceptional.
We spent the Christmas holidays at this beautiful mountain home and had a memorable time. Even though it was wintertime, the mountain view was still spectacular, especially early in the morning as the sun was rising. Our family of six adults had plenty of room, with four bedrooms, each with a private bath. We had planned to spend more time in downtown Asheville (and we did spend 1 1/2 days exploring the area) but we were having so much fun playing ping-pong and foosball in the spacious basement and enjoying each other's company while watching a fire in the fireplace that we didn't want to leave the house. Although we did not personally meet the owners, every online interaction we had with Sam was pleasant and professional, and he quickly answered any questions we had. I highly recommend staying in this gorgeous house if you are looking for a memorable getaway in the Asheville area.
Large home with all the amenities. Owners did a fantastic job of providing all the comforts of home. Very well stocked kirchen, bathroom and laundry room. There were 8 of us (4 couples). Each bedroom with a private bath made for a wonderful group vacation. Guys played their favorite game - corn hole a few nights. Watching sunrises on the large deck with a cup of coffee and friends was a great way to start each day. Large dining room table accommodated all of us for the few dinners we had at the cabin. Very close to downtown Asheville, Grove Park Inn and The Biltnore. Owners checked in on us several times via text which was appreciated. Only thing the guys in the group mentioned they would change would be to have a TV in the bedrooms. Of course, we had perfect weather, which adds to the experience. Would recommend for a getaway with friends or family.
We were totally thrilled with everything at Asheville Mountain Haven. They had everything we needed, the house was clean and there was plenty of room for the 8 of us. We would stay there again in a heartbeat.
We all loved this house. It has huge covered porches to enjoy the view. The inside is incredibly spacious. Appliances and furniture are in great shape. (The washer and dryer looked brand new.) Each bedroom has its own private (spacious) bathroom.
The house is located close (or close-ish) to many major tourist attractions in the area. Asheville / Biltmore is about 20 or so minutes away.
The owners were friendly and easy to reach and replied back right away with any questions we had.
I highly recommend this property.
Something to keep in mind: this is a mountainous area (thus the awesome view), and the roads to the reach the house are steep, but manageable.
The home is 14 miles from downtown Asheville; 14 miles from the airport; 10 minutes from Blue Ridge Parkway; 15 minutes from the Biltmore House and Asheville's flourishing restaurant scene. Full grocery store is 4 miles away. Hospital 15 minutes away. Pharmacy 5 miles away. Public library 4 miles away. 20 miles to Chimney Rock, Bat Cave, and Lake Lure. 15 minutes from rafting on the French Broad River. Numerous scenic hiking trails, such as the Mountains to the Sea trail, run throughout the area. Cataloochee Park is within an hour's drive and provides an unbelievable trip back in time to a remote mountain village from the early 1900s along with the opportunity to observe the mountain elk at close hand. One of our favorite spots in the region! Hot Springs natural hot water baths are within an hour's drive. Asheville beer tasting tours are within a fifteen minute drive for those who love Asheville's burgeoning beer scene.
