About Sam & Laura

This house has been a home to us for many years and we have loved every minute of it. Now that our children are grown and we have downsized to a smaller home nearby, we would like to share the beauty and peace of the mountain with our guests. My wife teaches at a local university and I work in quality control for a national corporation with offices in this region. We love nature and enjoy hiking the fantastic trails in the area. We also love to travel, especially to Italy. We like to make our guests comfortable and be there whenever they need us while also giving them their space and privacy. We are only four miles away if they ever need anything.

Sam & Laura purchased this house in 2003

Why Sam & Laura chose Asheville Area

We love the tranquillity and beauty of the mountain. In every season there is something beautiful to witness. The chance to be so close to the natural world has been a great blessing to us and has enriched our lives in ways that cannot be expressed in words.

What makes this house unique

The chance to watch the changing view of the valley and distant mountains, to hear the wood thrush in the morning and evening, to hike the trails and be in the natural world ,while also having easy access to downtown Asheville, the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Biltmore House, Cataloochee ski resort, white water rafting, and all of the other great attractions in the Western North Carolina mountains has been one of the best things about life on the mountain.

Amazing views and plenty of room!

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved our stay at the Mountain Haven in Asheville. We were glad that we arrived before it got dark as the driveway and road to the house is quite technical. Once here, we couldn't get enough of the views! The house had the perfect number of beds and bathrooms for our group and everyone commented on how comfortable it was! The kitchen had everything we needed for breakfasts and dinner one night. The proximity to the Blue Ridge Parkway was awesome and we did a ton of great hiking. For feeling so remote, the house was also surprisingly close to the restaurants downtown for feeling. We can't wait to come back!

House with the best View

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here Labor Day weekend 2017 with several couples for a wedding in Fairview. The wedding venue itself and the other properties we visited during the weekend activities paled in comparison. Very comfortable, clean and everything you need is provided. Owner is super accommodating and non-intrusive. We did several hikes and visited nearby Asheville from this location. Conveniently close to the busyness, but just the ticket for a quiet evening watching the stars or a peaceful morning on the deck with coffee. Quite a trek up the mountain, but so worth it!

beautiful mountain retreat

  • 5 of 5

Spent a four night stay at this lovely home with childhood gal-pals. We all loved the breath taking views from the large decks overlooking the mountains. SO relaxing and conducive to those "girlie" chats! The drive up the mountain looks more intimidating than it really is. Location is perfect for day trips to the Biltmore Estate, downtown Asheville, Hendersonville, and other surrounding sites.

Beautiful home

  • 5 of 5

Our group had a lovely time staying at this beautiful home. Each room is very nicely decorated and plenty of places to spread out. We all enjoyed the game room too. The views are amazing and each day a little different, incredible star viewing too. One of my favorite things about the property is the stonework on the home, the driveway, and retaining walls, very nicely done. The owner was most attentive and followed up with any questions very promptly. Highly recommended this home! Jeannie B.

Views are amazing and the owners are wonderful

  • 5 of 5

The house is about 15 minutes from the hustle and bustle of Asheville. It provided great mountain views and peace and quiet but still has convenient access to all of the attractions. Sam and Laura, the owners, are wonderful people doing everything they can to make your stay amazing. We had 8 people (2 kids) and stayed 4 nights. The house was perfect for our group.

Lots of space and secluded in the mountain. The place was clean, well stocked and the owners were great to work with. Would definitely stay here again.
