Set on twelve acres of woods and rolling hills enjoy the quiet and rustic charm of our property. Sip your morning coffee on the back deck or take in a bon fire at twilight. Accommodations include a fully furnished kitchen, W/D and memory foam beds with 1800 count sheets. We have no carpets and do not allow smoking in the house. We do have Midnight Red and Tequila Sunrise our resident cows, and chickens, stop up to see Macon Bacon our Miss piggy and say hi. We believe in treating people as we would like to be treated so think of us as family while here.
My Great Grandparents purchased this property before 1900. They worked it as a farm for many years including through the depression. My family decided to start up the farm again in 1968 so we raised Registered Jerseys. We were fortunate to know the owners of the Farm where Elsie The Borden cow resided and we were lucky enough to get a great granddaughter of hers. I named her Daisy. We showed Daisy and Clover at the local fairs and won every conceivable ribbon you could imagine. We lived that life for 5 years. It was a good time. My wife and I tore down the old house in 1991 and put up a duplex and recently decided to start the farm again. We have chickens, a pig(Macon Bacon) and two angus/holstein cross calves(Midnight Red and Tequila Sunrise).
Doug and Doris purchased this house in 1890
It is beautiful, peaceful and relaxing.
The hill, the woods, the brook. Plus, We now have the Dry Heat Sauna and the Hot Tub is here and available!
Beds truly were comfortable. Suggest becoming familiar with thermostat as the room my daughter was sleeping in got very cold at night but didn't want to wake her fiddling around. Also suggest bringing bottled water to drink if you're sensitive to the sulfur smelling well water. All around an enjoyable stay!
Three couples and two little kids greatly enjoyed this house. Doug and Doris met us upon arrival and were kind enough to show us around their property, including the animals. The house was clean and comfortable, and the Wifi worked well. The bagels and cream cheese were a nice treat. We didn't have a chance to enjoy the sauna and hot tub, but wished we had. Thanks again!
We were looking for a place to be our home base while visiting area attractions(Essex Steam Train, Gillette Castle, etc..). Doug & Doris' place was perfect and it came along with the experience of being on the farm. Our hosts were warm & inviting. When we arrived there was home baked banana bread waiting for us and they gave us a tour of the farm as they knew we were interested in meeting the animals as well. The accommodations were perfect for the four of us (my brother & his fiance, my mother & myself). We each had our own bedroom and the kitchen had everything we needed. We felt very relaxed there. We would stay there again if in the area.
We had a fantastic time with Doug and Doris. They were very sweet and very accommodating. You didn't even notice they were right next door. The house was very clean and equipped with everything you need.
Our daughters had a great time meeting the animals and enjoying s'mores at night by the camp fire. On our drive home the girls asked when were we coming back. It truly felt like a relaxing home away from home.
We will definitely be back!
We really enjoyed our brief stay. The hosts went out of their way to make us feel comfortable but not at all intrusive. Very peaceful setting in a great town. The house was very well equipped with charming touches, like mints on our pillows. It was a great getaway from all our cares. Thank you!
We stayed at the Farm for one week while visiting our daughter and family in the area. Doug and Doris were very accommodating. We had delicious zucchini bread waiting for us with butter to go along with it. Also had coffee available. The home was very clean with everything you would need (except a full length mirror for us vain ladies😜. Doug was great showing our grandkids the animals. Just remember it's an active farm. If you are city folks you might be surprised by the roosters morning greetings! We would stay again. I loved it!
