Overall the property was in good condition and met our expectations. The owner's agent told us the the bed linen would be changed weekly but only showed up once in the month we stayed to exchange it. The dryer doesn't work very well but my wife managed to wash sheets then hang them to dry in the apartment. The Paris agent tried to charge an additional fee for any departure before 08:00 as an early checkout fee. Very self-serving for the "hospitality" industry and not that early where I come from. We never saw the contract he claimed contained this clause.
Our primary complaint involves a phony claim against our damage deposit after the agent was sure we had left the country. Earlier in the day he confirmed that "Tout est bien" By the time we had landed in Toronto, a puncture about 1/4" in diameter and a scuff had appeared on a chair. Photos taken just prior to leaving clearly show the chair with no damage. I think they rely on scamming customers knowing that most won't be back or are unlikely to pursue a claim once they arrive home. After the initial exchange both the agent and the owner were dismissive of our complaint and refused any negotiation attempt. As a result we have initiated a dispute resolution process with Home away (VRBO) and alerted our credit card company.
Until this dispute is resolved satisfactorily I strongly caution anyone against renting this apartment or any other properties these people manage.
This apartment is so comfortable and hassle- free making it ideal for a holiday. It has all modern appliances, a really comfortable bed and is in a secure and easily accessible building. It is very easy to keep clean. Everything you need for cooking is available. Its location is also ideal, being within walking distance of so many interesting places including the Luxembourg Gardens and Musee Rodin. The metro and bus stations are also close by. There are fresh food markets 5 minutes away that are held 3 times per week. A shopping trolley in the apartment is a bonus. I have no hesitation in recommending this apartment
Location: We stayed at 63 rue du Cherche Midi for 4 weeks, May 3-31, 2016. Rue du Cherche Midi is a very interesting street, with small independent shops, and everything you need for a daily life - boulanger, fish monger, butcher, cafés, dry cleaner, pharmacies, hardware store, vegetable stand that is open from 8am to midnight 7 days a week, and many excellent restaurants. Organic market on Blvd Raspail 3 blocks away opens several times a week. It is ideally located, because it is far enough from the tourist crowd, yet close enough to everything. Every year when we go to France, it is my mission to find the best baguette (crunchy, not leathery, skin and soft inside) and I found it just 1 1/2 blocks up rue du Cherche Midi. Her baguette is better than the Boulangerie La Parisienne's on rue Madame, which is 10 minutes walk from the apartment and which won the 2016 best baguette contest!!!
Apartment: There are double-hung windows throughout the apartment and it is very quiet inside. Upon arrival, we found the apartment immaculately clean and it looks like all the appliances are brand new. It is very spacious and comfortable. I recommend it highly.
