Best Spot on Pauline! (Book now for fall & winter! 5 mins from Okemo)

Bedrooms 4
Space 2,168 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 - 7 nights

About the property

4 BR, 3 Bath with 300' lake frontage, private yard and lots of living space.

This is the perfect location for a fabulous winter vacation (fall & summer are awesome, too!) Imagine waking up each morning to the quiet beauty of the lake covered with fresh snow. Load your Okemo pass on-line from the house and head right to the slopes, just 5 minutes away! If you love to cook, the kitchen is well appointed so you can whip up something wonderful. Otherwise, eat at one of the fabulous restaurants downtown or just grab a pizza! Play games, watch movies or just chill by the fire (wood provided!)...All the simple pleasures!

My slogan is "keep it simple". When you arrive, beds are made with crisp, clean linens & down comforters and fresh towels are stacked in the bathroom. Just show up! My house fairies will be sure everything is neat and clean when you arrive and after you leave. No fuss. No stress. I want you to relax and enjoy!

This spacious lakefront cottage has everything you need to create wonderful memories that will last a lifetime. With 3 floors of living space, there is plenty of room for everyone to have privacy, but then gather together for meals or to share stories of the day's adventures. And for couples or smaller families who don't need or want the sprawl, everything you need is right on the main living floor, giving it that comfortable, cozy cottage feel.

Fresh bath and bed linens are provided for each guest and beds have new, comfortable mattresses and pillows. The kitchen has a microwave and dishwasher and K-cup coffee maker. There is also a washer and dryer available if you need it.

In the summer, the 1+ acre yard with horseshoe pits, volleyball net, hammock, huge deck & fire pit make entertaining a breeze! Swim, kayak and fish right off the new dock in the deep, clear water.

The large deck has an umbrella table and chairs and a Weber gas grill. Stairs off one side lead to a side yard with a shed that holds the yard and water toys, extra chairs, etc. The large fire pit is also on that side, with views of the lake. Stairs off the other side lead to the larger yard where you'll find another eating table tucked under the pines and lit with tiki torches for evening dinners al fresco. There you will also find the horseshoe pits, hammock and a wide path gently sloping down to the waterfront. There's a brand new dock and two kayaks - one double and one single. Paddles and life preservers are in the shed.

Lake Pauline is peaceful and quiet, but Lake Rescue is directly behind us and allows power boats. The boat ramp is 1/2 mile down the road. The best of both worlds!!

In the winter, ice skate, snowmobile (VAST trails) or snowshoe right from the front door. Okemo is 5 minutes (Jackson Gore is even less!), Killington is 25 minutes and Pico is about 30 minutes away. In the evening, gather for a meal, games or a movie. A large, see through fireplace adds warmth and charm to both living room and kitchen/dining room!

In the fall, grab a blanket and a cup of coffee and head out to the Adirondack chairs to watch the mist rise off the lake and listen to the geese fly overhead.

The main floor has a bedroom with double bed and a bedroom with a twin. The bathroom on this floor is very large and has a bath tub (there are also safety rails in this bathroom by tub and toilet, if you have guests who need some extra support).

Upstairs is the master bedroom suite with king bed and small full bath. A second bedroom has a queen bed and two twins. Both bedrooms have skylights and French balconies.

The lower level suite has an additional living area and full bath. There is a couch, TV and stereo and a second room with a daybed with trundle and large game table. (Note: Since this area does not have proper egress, it cannot be used as a bedroom.)

Buttermilk Falls is a popular swimming and picnic spot throughout the summer and fall. Deep, cool pools are at the base of each of 3 sets of falls, cascading down through the woods. They are only 2 miles away and can be reached by car or bike.

The town of Ludlow has a variety of interesting shops, great restaurants and you can't beat the Jackson Gore Adventure Park when the kids need some excitement. They also hold a free concert every Friday night in the summer that is always fun!

I love my 'cottage' and this area and feel so fortunate to have such a beautiful, spacious spot on the lake. I am happy to share it with others who are looking to refresh, reconnect & renew. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you might have.

About Bernie Bolton

I reside in CT and have always wanted to live on a lake. Finding this house in Ludlow - an area I love! - was pure fate!

I have done home exchanges in the past and really enjoyed the experience. I love sharing what brings me joy and I trust people to treat it as though it were their own.

I have 2 grown children and a Boxer named Abbie. Pets are generally not allowed, but trained, well-behaved pets will be considered since I know they are part of your family, too.

Bernie Bolton purchased this house in 2015

Why Bernie Bolton chose Ludlow / Okemo Mountain Area

I fell in love with Ludlow 20 years ago and fall in love all over again each time I drive into town. It has everything anyone could want -- interesting shops featuring talented artists; world-class golf; sensational skiing; beautiful lakes, streams and waterfalls; friendly people and breathtaking views all around.

Burlington is a good day trip and Manchester, Woodstock, Rutland, Bennington & Lake George are all within an hour's drive. But honestly? You won't leave Ludlow! :)

What makes this house unique

I've just recently purchased this home and want to create a "cottage" experience. I do not want a home to be featured on 'Cribs' -- I want a home where you walk in and feel at peace. Like perhaps you've stepped back in time a bit to a simpler life at a slower pace.

Yes, there is wifi and cable TV and Bose surround sound & a dishwasher. If you need them. But there are also kayaks and fishing poles and jigsaw puzzles and a squeaky screen door. So I encourage you to unplug and enjoy life's simple pleasures.

Could Not Have Been Better!

  • 5 of 5

First of all - Bernie. Such a fantastic host. We chatted on the phone before booking to make sure that she answered all of my questions. She was available by text for additional questions that came up and was flexible on our check-in/check-out time, which I know is on a case by case basis.

The home was absolutely perfect. Plenty of room in the kitchen and I love how it flowed openly into the dining area. The living room has huge windows overlooking the lake and a double sided fireplace splits the living room from the dining room. Even in June it was a beautiful focal point!

There are THREE full bathrooms - one on each floor. No line, no waiting!

Comfortable beds, fans in every room, everything was extremely clean, well decorated, organized, and easy to find. The kitchen was STOCKED: the standard plates, glasses, pots and pans, utensils, but then there was even plastic wrap, foil, bags, at least 15 different spices, oil, condiments, and much much more.

The deck - it was enormous! Plenty of room for everyone to hang out, including a 1 year old and a puppy. There were baby gates that we would shift depending on where we were hanging out and they worked on the deck as well. The view overlooking the lake could not have been better.

There are 2 kayaks (single and a double) and a canoe. We had a great time going out on the lake while we were there! The shed has everything you could want for outside activities: life jackets, fishing rods, horseshoes, badminton, inner tubes, beach chairs, extra propane, and more that we didn't even have time to use. The fire pit was great and there was plenty of wood by the garage.

Quick drive into Ludlow and we spent some time at the Adventure Park at Okemo and then drove up to Woodstock as well. Perfect location - we will be back... hopefully soon!!

If you want to stay in Ludow, VT, the Lake House is a must see.

  • 5 of 5

As advertised the cottage is the perfect winter get- away. Our family just spent 5 fantastic days at the cottage. We have rented numerous homes in both Cape May, NJ and the Poconos and the Lake House in Ludlow beats them all. The fact that you do not have to bring linens and towels is a huge plus. Also, the cottage is the most well appointed home we have ever rented. Ample paper products, soap, dishwashing liquid, washing machine detergent, aluminum foil, spices were at our fingertips. Everything was exactly as advertised.

Another bonus is the owner. She was fantastic to work with and went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. In fact, she even emailed us a month before our trip to let us know that Okemo advertised a special for lift tickets. She texted us the day before our arrival without being prompted.

The Lake House is a great rental. We would definitely book another stay in the winter or the summer.

Perfect spot for a long weekend skiing getaway

  • 5 of 5

Tapestry Pines was very comfortable with a great layout for two families spending a long weekend near Okemo. The location overlooking the lake makes this a really peaceful spot, but it's also convenient - quick drive to Jackson Gore and Okemo and the town of Ludlow. With a separate basement/TV room, the kids had their own space to play while the adults hung out by the fire in the living room--those reclining sofas are habit-forming! The fireplace in the main living space opens up to the family room on one side and dining area on the other, so you always feel like you're sitting by the fire. We loved that the house is dog-friendly. The owner was also very kind to let us check out late on our last day so that we could spend it skiing. We look forward to coming back for another stay!

Owner's Response: It was a pleasure working with you, Mary Kate! I'm so glad to know you enjoyed your stay and got in some good skiing -- I love skiing Okemo! And - yes - the recliners are addicting!! I'm not a recliner person at home, but feet up with a book in front of the fire, looking out at the lake -- it doesn't get much better!! Thanks for being a terrific guest!

Family visit

  • 5 of 5

This house was perfect to visit family that live in Vermont for Christmas. My husband and I traveled with our 5 children (ranging from 20y-11y) and our 2 small dogs. There was plenty of beds for all of us and when our family came over there was enough room for everyone to sit and chat. The beds were very comfortable and the house was very clean. The kitchen had everything I needed to cook any meal. My kids were out skating on the lake during the day and at night. We can't wait to stay in the house next year.

It sounds cliché, but the Ludlow area truly has something for everyone! The winters boast exceptional skiing at Okemo with Killington just 25 minutes away, snowmobiling, skating & snow shoeing. Fall is fabulous for scenic drives as each turn offers a thrilling view of mountains, fields and forests as you follow the winding Black Rock River. In summer you can spend the day antiquing, wandering through farmers' markets, boating, fishing, hiking or trying your skill at the Jackson Gore Adventure Park on the zip line or alpine slides.
