About Ray Crucet
I'm an engineer at a firm in Oakland County, and have lived in the area for 40 years. We're new to renting a cabin, but we'll do our best to accommodate you.
Ray Crucet purchased this Cabin in 2010
Why Ray Crucet chose Curran
We bought this cabin for the great view and waterfront access and beach. The cabin was built by the owner of a hardware store chain, and we were impressed by the design and quality of construction. We love this area, and have been coming to this lake for almost 15 years.
What makes this Cabin unique
The cabin is at the end of a cul-de-sac, so nothing but woods on one side, and of course the lake. Chances are you won't see any neighbors. Huron National Forest and the AuSable river are just a few miles away, with hundreds of miles of trails for hiking or ORV.

Crooked Lake Cottage
We had a great time at this cottage. The cottage is very simple...but has everything you need. It has a great location (curran Mi about 3.5 hours north of Detroit). The lake is extremely tranquil...and is almost always flat. The cottage included a small boat and motor...a canoe and some blow up tubes. The fishing wasn't the greatest but I think it was just too hot leading up to our visit....we did catch a few small mouth bass and sunfish. Lots of frogs at the waters edge and a painted turtle...so the kids loved that. Really beautiful view of the lake...and lots of privacy. The owner was great to deal with. The only issue we had was the BBQ tanks were both empty and too old to fill...so we used the cooking rack over the open fire.....which worked out well. Was plenty of wood that could be found for campfires in the surrounding forest. We did Mackinac island (2 hours, alpena (30 mins) and traverse city (1.5 hours). So location is very central. We had a great time.
The lake was amazing! Very tranquil and a great escape!!!
The lake was very tranquil. It is perfect if you want to escape it all! The cottage was very quaint and secluded. We had a very peaceful, perfect week!!!
Just what we needed
Love this place. The lake and whole area is so peaceful and quiet. No wake lake is definitely a plus. Great fishing and the main town in the area (Mio) is just a short drive away. This place is exactly what my wife and I needed. Looking forward to coming back.
Amazing week of R&R
This cabin on the lake is a perfect get-a-way for relaxing and unplugging. We enjoyed the canoe, swims across the lake and the wildlife (deer, chipmunks, turkeys, porcupine, raccoon and hummingbirds). The late afternoon bonfires were a great end to the day. Nice drives to some amazing Amish baked goods was the final touch. Hope to visit again!
Had a fantastic time, for a family of 4 (1 five month old and 1 three year old) it was perfect. Beach and lake were great, very calm and quiet, lots of wildlife, caught a few fish right off the dock, took a few trips on the canoe as well. Very up north and away from it all. Place was clean, owner was great, would recommend to friends and family
ORV trailhead is nearby in Mckinley, and you can ride your dirt bike on the side roads to it. Tubing nearby at the Au Sable river. Bridle trails in the nearby Huron National Forest. Michigan Au Sable Valley small gauge railroad. Lots of hunting nearby, and great areas for Morel mushroom hunting as well. Our lake is a no-wake lake, and the boat launch is nearby. Please use the boat launch at the public beach for launching boats. Pull your pontoon boat right up on our beach. Canoe and rowboat available to renters. Firewood available nearby in town. I have tubes you can use. I have a beanbag toss game stored. Just ask. Here is a google map with other nearby sites http://g.co/maps/urtc7
