My husband, children and I all love Bellport for its vibrant artist, beach community. We love going to the Gateway Playhouse, taking the ferry to Ho Hum Beach, sailing, swiming and eating at some of the finest restaurants Long Island has to offer. In addition to all that Bellport's proximity to New York city (2 hrs by train; 1 hr by car) makes it convenient to visiting the city.
Our home is located within easy walking distance to Bellport's beautiful village shops, restaurants and grocery stores. As well, the ferry's 7 minute ride transports you to Bellport's own 'Ho Hum Beach' an endless stretch of coastline more famously known as 'Fire Island'. Or if you perfer, its easy enough to take one of our kayaks for a trip around the 'Great South Bay'. After a day of play we offer mutiple relaxing areas either in the yard or on the terrace to enjoy a bite to eat and watch the sunset.

Apologies for the late update, but this was an amazing house to rent to visit with family for Thanksgiving. We live on the West Coast, so don't get back East as often as we like. Location of this property was perfect, the house is beautiful and our two children, 8 & 4 loved being there as well. We definitely recommend it, the area of Bellport is gorgeous and friendly and the house and surrounding neighborhood perfect. Very quiet, beautifully and lovingly cared for, a real gem. Thank you for a great stay, we hope to be able to stay again next year for Thanksgiving. Easy access to the city as well, which I really appreciated being able to introduce my children to Rockefeller Center and all the wonderful museums available.
I rented this home in the Winter for 6 weeks while I was in LI for a medical rotation. It took about a week for the house to heat up as the windows are beautiful but single pane and the floors are painted cement. The fireplace upstairs surely helped! While I stayed there I couldn't stop thinking about how great the place would be for the Spring/Summer as all the glass doors in the front open up to the big lawn with tables, loungers and a grill. The house is very eclectic and artistic but not too much so that you would worry about bringing kids. The town of Bellport is adorable with great restaurants and a nice small town feel. The owner is very responsive and great to work with. You won't regret staying here!
We really enjoyed staying here. The home is perfectly situated within walking distance of the water and a brief walk or two-minute drive to the 'four corners' of Bellport. It's also right around the corner from the historic Gateway Playhouse. The house has a chic yet comfortable style with an open floor plan and many recent updates. It is loaded with educational kid books, toys and beds for children (including a wooden bunk bed), so if you're coming with children you can travel lightly. There is a large yard with a wonderful tree house, bikes and canoes for sight-seeing. The homeowner is also very pleasant, responsive and accommodating. I would without hesitation rent here again in the future.
I can't say enough good things about this house and the owners. This house is highly recommended to those looking for a quiet neighborhood with close proximity to great beaches (Fire Island) and restaurants (The Belport, Porters).
A group of work colleagues and myself had a highly enjoyable late-spring stay in this South-Shore home. The most enjoyable parts of the house are the natural lighting scheme and modern decor, especially set within the context of the traditional town and architecture of Belport. The decor is a mix of late '50s and '60s style with new refurbishments and amenities. The downstairs kitchen and upstairs master bedroom are newly refurbished, with beautiful large pane glass patio doors that provide ample natural lighting during the day. The surrounding hedge and landscaping ensures privacy. The best parts of the master bedroom are the quiet peacefulness and the view southward – picture a full moon over the Atlantic.
Outdoor amenities abound. The BBQ grill and outdoor patio set are nice touches for warm summer nights. Kayaks (talk to owner) and creek access to Belport Bay are within waking distance and the Carmans River is within a car ride. Although we were just tourists, this house felt like home!
I arrived tired and stressed after a long flight - and left feeling rested, restored and smiling from enjoying all the Bellport has to offer. The house is a brief walk into town and I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the bay each morning at the end of the road and many a happy hour at Porters on the Lane. The house is beautifully done, with a large kitchen perfect for welcoming friends. The upstairs master suite is a lovely retreat in which to enjoy a glass of wine on the deck an enjoy a roaring fire. I will be back!
My boyfriend and I stayed here with friends last August and had a fantastic time. The pictures don't do the place justice. The house really blurs the outside/inside line in a wonderful way; we absolutely loved the sleeping porch. Spending a lazy afternoon in the hammock while others went sailing on the bay was my idea of heaven. Taking the ferry over to the Bellport beach on Fire Island is the best part of staying here. Walking the boardwalk through the dunes to the beach makes you feel like you are on your own Outer Banks!
The kitchen is well stocked and we had a great time making pancakes for the group and having bbqs. The location was ideal, close to everything yet in a magical beach/vacationland that we're itching to return to! Though you can walk to town from here you'll enjoy the whole area a lot more if you have a car. Can't wait to go back.
