Amazing winter wonderland

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this secluded cabin from March 12-15th of 2018 and it was an absolute dream. It snowed the entire time and this little cabin and it’s location is the perfect winter get away. We didn’t have a 4x4 car but managed without one fine, we did leave the car parked at the bottom of the driveway and would walk to the house which wasn’t that bad. Damien also made it known that he could have someone plow the driveway at anytime. Loved all the toys they had for my 2 year old. It made the stay a lot better. There is no crib, although the photo’s show one. But I did find 2 pack and plays (one smaller and one larger) and we set up the larger one up for her to sleep in. The small town of Phoenicia is also adorable and we recommend the Pizza shop that had so much more than pizza. All the food we ordered was delicious. We would absolutely recommend this place and we appreciate that Damien was only a text or phone call away for any questions or concerns.

Great Location

  • 5 of 5

We rented this house for two months this winter and will miss it terribly! The house is nestled in the woods, next to a gurgling stream. The cute town of Phoenicia is 5 minutes away and two ski mountains plus Woodstock all within 30 minutes.

The house itself is great for families. It is pretty basic but the owners have done a great job of providing everything you need. It felt like home and the kids loved the fact that there was a kids room with lots of toys and books.

Thank you, Damian, for opening your home to us. We hope to make it back there again some day.

Very nice property with beautiful surrounding Forrest and views.

  • 5 of 5

The property had a nice rustic feel and all the amenities we needed for the short weekend getaway. We especially enjoyed the outdoor fire pit and a local hiking trail.

A Truly Remote Hideaway

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I and our three kids ages 6, 7 and 9 really loved coming here. We wanted something out of the way where the kids could just walk out the door and play in the surrounding nature without our having to watch them like a hawk. This was truly perfect. There are no roads nearby and the stream was shallow enough to wade across. There are lovely views of the surrounding hills and we even got glimpses of stars. Inside, the house had everything we needed, from comfy beds and couches to toys and children's books, all the kitchen equipment we wanted, a dryer, and hot showers with plenty of water pressure, soap, shampoo and fresh towels. There was even a bouquet of fresh flowers awaiting our arrival! Plan to drive in on an unpaved road in poor repair to reach this casual cozy house, 4WD strongly recommended, though possible without it. Check for ticks before bed if you played outside, as you should all over the Catskills. Ask the host about the coffee maker if making coffee at home is important to you. A few miles down the road you'll find everything you need in Phoenicia, including a decent grocery store, brick oven pizza, a good diner, and some interesting stores selling souvenirs, toys, curios and artworks. There's a farm to table restaurant that is so popular that reservations are an absolute must or you'll be eating elsewhere, as we were. On the way home, check out the luxury gift shops and the trippy kaleidoscope at Emerson Resort. We'll be back, thank you Damian!

Great spot - spacious, yet cozy

  • 4 of 5

Nice and clean, with plenty of room. I'd say it's more suitable for a family with children than a group of adults though. Just a couple small things:

1 - The twin beds don't really push together - they are different heights. The kids room is a true kids room - full of toys, stuffed animals, etc.

2 - The house is up a dirt road that's full of pot holes - bring a car with 4-wheel drive if you can

3 - You have to take your garbage with you. That was strange. Make sure you have room in your car for a couple garbage bags when you leave.

Beautiful setting

  • 4 of 5

What a beautiful setting! Communication with Damian was smooth and he was very helpful and attentive, especially when we ran into problems with the landline and wifi. The home itself had some quirks and we felt it could use a bit of TLC, but we still had a very nice time. We didn't have any children in our group but the home certainly looks well-prepared for groups with small children (plenty of books, games, and appropriately-prepared beds)!
