New to the rental market.
The cabin is a wonderful example of an early log cabin retreat. The house although comfortable contained too much "personal stuff," which limited free use and enjoyment. It could use a thorough cleaning and the road leading to the property is rutted and in need of repair. The pictures of the listing are somewhat dated.
My family of 5 rented this cabin for a week last week. It was one of the hottest weeks of the summer so far. The house advertised airconditioning as one of the amenities. On vrbo and home away. When we arrived and were told that there was no airconditioning, we were beyond disappointed. We would not have booked this home had we known there was no ac. It was 82 degrees in the home when we arrived and the week was only getting hotter. I understand that there is the cool "mountain breeze", but not in 100 degree weather. We asked the owner if we could just get our money back and try to salvage our vacation week, and we only recieved half. After hours of trying to reach someone to tell them the problems of the home, we left the home the same day of arrival. We all had to take off from our jobs and drive a distance to be let down. There was also someone else's expired food in the refrigerator and the bathroom floor was sunken in. There was no screen in the window and there were bugs crawling everywhere. The house was not cleaned before our arrival. We would have stuck it out and tried to enjoy our vacation that we were so looking forward to, but decided it was not worth it to be miserable. Maybe this "rustic" cabin would be better for a winter rental but definitely not in the summer heat. The house was falsely advertised on not one but two sites. The documents that we recieved from the home did not state that they did have ac, but also didn't state that they did not. I guess we weren't smart enough to put the two together. Vacation FAIL :(
The cabin is located in an idyllic spot on the Bushkill. Although not as isolated as we thought from the pictures (there are houses along the road, next door and across the creek), the area is private and quiet with shady woods, beautiful stretch of lawn and of course, the wonderful creek. We spent much of our time enjoying the water with the dogs, taking short hikes and relaxing in the shady creekside sitting area. The patio has views, grill, fireplace, tiki torches and lots of charm. The cabin itself is quaint and roomy, but to be honest it was not very clean--built-up dust and old cobwebs throughout with crumbs and grime in kitchen. Rustic conditions in the bathroom with broken and missing tiles, gaping hole and buckling shower wall. It was HOT and there was no air conditioning, but most windows had no screens, so we couldn't open them without letting in masses of bugs. Overall, a beautiful, rustic and relaxing place that would benefit greatly from a little TLC.
The cabin at Stony Creek was the perfect getaway with family. Peaceful and secluded, it offered a great chance to catch up with each other. The cabin was adorable and cozy, and fit 6 adults and 2 kids comfortably. Be warned though, the road to the cabin is VERY bumpy and filled with potholes. Drive slowly. Other then that, our stay was wonderful.
This home is gorgeous. It was the perfect getaway for my family and I. The home was very clean, quiet and the owner makes sure that you have all the amenities needed for your stay. I would recommend this home to anyone. I can't wait to go back!!!!
This is a secluded, tranquil house essentially tailor made for a getaway. We had a great long-weekend and the owner, Susan, was very hospitable. Neighbors are a nice safe distance away, the stream is right there, and the front lawn is perfect to throw around a football, Frisbee, or whatever. Also, the fireplace throws off a LOT of heat--perfect for a cool Spring/Fall night. You won't be disappointed!
