About John Kuntz

We both retired from the Post Office and became interested in providing lodging for tourists. Nolin Getaway , a B&B, was our first adventure. We were successful for five years and totally enjoyed it. In the meantime we also purchased this cabin as well as the lake house. Two years ago we bought and renovated the Wax Motel. It is now called the Nolin Lake Lodge. It overlooks the Wax Marina and has ten units. As you can tell we enjoy people. Life is about making memories! We are honored to share a place for you to make them. Oh yes...we have, as of now, 16 grandchildren... so children are always welcome! Please check us out for more info about our other services.

Rustic cabin-beautiful area

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was perfect for our family of two adults and two boys. The woods behind us was perfect for the boys to play and explore. We enjoyed a camp fire every night. Extremely quiet and peaceful. Owners were very nice and easy to work with.

The cabin had nice features and plenty of room inside and out. Just a few suggestions for the future. Provide dish liquid and bathroom bar soap. The kitchen has ants . A thorough cleaning is needed of kitchen

A great getaway!!

  • 5 of 5

My friend and I wanted to spend a cozy romantic time together, away from the every day pressures. I am originally from Italy and this reminded me of home.... the mountains the valley's, rivers, lakes... so beautiful. The people around so friendly, the little grocery store " Webb" he'd a little of every thing very convinient. The cabin was amazing, we enjoyed every minute of it and wished we didn't have to leave. It was well stocked with every thing you need, we loved the charcoal grill. We spend most of our time in the back porch, I ( Maria) loved the swing and the fresh breeze every evening.... we absolutely would like to come back... thank you to the owners for being very nice and efficient!!!! Molto Grazie per Lospitalita'. 👍👍👍

Great little cabin in remote location.

  • 4 of 5

The cabin was comfortable and we we're glad there was a fan for the top bunk as the warm air really did rise and it was toasty up there. It was nice to be able to bring our dogs, but not sure why there was an extra fee for pets when we cleaned up anyways. The cabin was clean and well stocked and I would have given five stars, but the towels smelled like smoke and I felt like I was drying myself off with an ash tray after every shower. Other than that, we enjoyed the fire pit and woods around the house. The TV had cable which was nice after we were exhausted from our cave tour. Thank you for a great stay.

Quiet, Rustic, Cozy cabin

  • 5 of 5

We stayed three nights with our ten and 14 year old boys. The cabin has everything you need and is clean and cozy and quiet. It is in close to several fishing spots and other activities such as horseback riding, mammoth cave, etc... We would definitely recommend this cabin. It was so nice to be able to come and go as we pleased, and if we forgot or needed anything (licenses, bait, foods), there are tiny stores nearby that have it, "if not, you don't needed it." We saw other rentals we had previously considered, but were so glad we found this gem!!!

Home away from home!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for 4 days w/our 2 kids, ages 4 & 13. The cabin is super clean and cozy, the pics truly don't do it justice! John & Queedie are very nice and have thought of everything to make your stay a pleasant one down to bird food for the feeder out front! We so enjoyed walking to the lake for swimming and hiking and then back to the cabin for family dinners. Mammoth Cave is only 10 minutes away. We had family dinners on the screened in front porch w/a lovely view of the mountain line and deer and turkeys entertained us in the evenings. There is a porch swing on the porch and in the backyard and the hammock offers a relaxing spot as well. There is a charcoal and gas grill, and the kids LOVED roasting marshmallows and telling stories around the fire pit. We pretty much stopped for groceries on the way in and spent our time enjoying each others company without the distractions of Internet, video games, and chores. This cabin retreat was just what our family needed!! We truly felt at home and would definitely come back again!
