Perfect Place for a Family

  • 5 of 5

Loved Spindrift Cottage and the way it so beautifully accommodated our family of 7 adults and a toddler. The location could not be beat--within easy walking distance of everything in Bar Harbor so that we never had to fight for a parking space. On the other hand, we were two blocks off of Cottage, tucked a way on a quiet, peaceful residential street. The owner was a dream to work with, and we had a truly marvelous week.

Perfect Location in-town

  • 5 of 5

We spent 11 days at Spindrift, some with our grand-daughter and the rest with our grand-daughter, our daughter, and son-in-law. The house itself was very nice. Clean, well-stocked with paper goods, kitchen equipment, and so on. There are 3 bedrooms and 1 quite good bath on the second floor, and 1 bedroom, 1 very nice bath, and a very nice, large TV/sitting-room on the third floor. There are window A/C units in all but one of the bedrooms (one on the second floor). The kitchen area is large with lots of light. There is a separate DR and LR (with a TV) on the first floor. There is also a very nice patio (including a gas grill) off the kitchen. It is a private and nice place for a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. In short, the layout is excellent for families. Basically, we and our grand-daughter used the 2nd floor, while our daughter and her husband had a very nice "suite" on the 3rd floor.

We had stayed many times in Bar Harbor in the past (mostly at B&Bs), and thus know the town well. The location of this house is amazing. It is about a 3-minute walk to Hannaford's Grocery store. We were at Hannaford's almost every day buying fruit, trail mix, wine, etc. It was nice to just be able to walk over, pick up an item or two, and then walk back. Once back at the house, we appreciated the fact that it is on a dead-end cul-de-sac of sorts. It was quiet and safe. It was also just a few minutes walk to everything on both Cottage Street and Main Street.

In sum, we loved staying at the house with our family. It was a big part of having everyone be comfortable (by having their own spaces) and be able to enjoy one another (because of the many gathering spaces available, ; i.e., the patio, DR, LR, kitchen). Further, the owner was very good about communicating by email and text throughout the whole process.

Highly recommended.

Great location. Quite street, convient to grocery store and town. Comfortable beds.

Sheri was an excellent host. Quick to respond and easy check in and out process. Grilling out was great. Only suggestion is there needs to be a few more items added to the kitchen. More dish cloths (could only find one for the week). More serving spoons/spatulas. Overall it was a wonderful stay and a great beautiful house. Plenty of room for all 9 of us. Loved the very top floor, it was like it's own separate apartment. Soaker tub was wonderful after hiking in Acadia all day! Would definitely rent this place again.

Fantastic place within walking distance of anywhere you need to go. Great for families!

  • 5 of 5

Hands-down the best rental we have experienced. We were ten adults and two grandchildren and found the house spacious, clean, and well-supplied. The kitchen has everything one needs to cook family-style with plenty of utensils, pots, and pans. The rooms are clean and nicely decorated. The front room is large with comfortable couches, an easy chair, and a flat screen TV which we used to show some family videos. The dining room table is large and there is even a small children's table. There are books everywhere and a basketful of tourist information which we appreciated. We really loved the children's toys and puzzles -- just perfect for our two grandchildren. The place is within walking distance of downtown Bar Harbor and there is a supermarket just down the block. An incredible rental that we highly recommend!

Great downtown location!

  • 5 of 5

We are a family of four and stayed during Feb vacation to cross country ski in Acadia, which is always stunning. This place was perfect for us, and would fit several more people comfortably. My 13 year old son loved having his private hideaway on the third floor. The new bathroom with the huge soaker tub was luxurious, especially after skiing! All details were thought out for a comfortable stay with all we needed in the kitchen, books and games, blue ray and big tv with surround sound. Exceeded our expectations. Sherri was great getting us set up and answering questions. We would highly recommend this house for anyone.
