About Maura Pennisi

I found these adorable cottages while taking a summer drive! I envisioned fixing one of them up and decorating it, the way I would want to rent it myself! Many hours were put into finishing this bungalow to perfection! My hope is that you will enjoy the comforts of this bungalow and create many happy vacation memories during your stay!

We hope to see you for a return stay! Enjoy!!

What makes this cottage unique

Can't you just picture yourself sitting on the porch, relaxing with a glass of wine or a cold beer, on a warm summer day! Although the bungalow may be tiny it encompassed many changes, as it was built in 1920!. I changed it from a double entrance to a single entrance, updated windows, doors, remodeled kitchen, broke down a wall to expand the living room and kitchen and built a breakfast bar in the middle. A painted mural in the kitchen, extending from a framed ocean picture, creates attention to detail! The bathroom depicts the blue ocean and is very airy and light!

Sweet little cottage

  • 4 of 5

My friend and I stayed here for a girl's night away. Cottage was perfect for the two of us. Not as convenient a walk to downtown as we were hoping, there were no sidewalks for part of the walk down US1, but we just Ubered and it was relatively inexpensive for the ride.

Being from Maine, I am well aware of its beauty and what it has to offer. Knowing that, when I found the cottage I was excited to see it's location and price. I wanted something that was quintessential New England for my visiting Nashville boyfriend. Everything said about this cottage is that and more. It's charming, beachy, cozy and just enough. Whether you are a local couple needing a quick getaway surrounded by the beauty of the Yorks, an out of town couple needing to explore the beauty New England boasts or a family with kids wanting some beach time or leaf peeping. This cottage delivers all. The owner is thoughtful and professional, giving you your privacy and quick to respond to any questions. You will not be disappointed!!

Owner was wonderful to work with.

At the last minute, I had a change in plans and had been issued a new credit card. The owner, Maura, was so very helpful in navigating what we had to do in order to ensure that the damage deposit was able to be returned to me. She responded quickly and went out of her way to contact VRBO to get all of the details on how best to have my deposit returned to me. Thank you, Maura!

All the comforts of home in a calm setting.

  • 5 of 5

(English) This is the second time we’ve stayed at Birch Knoll, located just outside Ogunquit, in York County. To be honest, Maura’s cottage offers all the comforts of home in a small package. A fully-equipped kitchen (within the confines of available space), a cozy living room and an unobstructed view of a well-manicured lawn and pool surrounded by majestic pine trees provides a glimpse of what is in store for you. You are only a 30 minute walk via Bourne Lane to Ogunquit’s main beach which will avoid you traffic jams and a hefty 30$ rate for daily parking (if any available). If you are looking for a calm setting removed from the hustle and bustle of Ogunquit’s city core, this is your place. (The cottage can accommodate 2 adults and 2 young kids, no more.)

Everything it said it was and more. Thank you!

Quiet, thoughtful, cozy, clean. Made you feel like you were staying in an original Maine cottage (we were!) yet updated. Could tell they cared. Close to all yet safe for kids to play and "get away from it all". Was a pleasure!

Adorable cabin, great location

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was so inviting on the outside and even cuter on the inside. It was immaculate and comfortable-perfect for two people. The location couldn't be beat and was just down the road from Ogunquit and I wish I had been able to stay longer. Many great restaurants close by. Comfortable beds and lots of hot water. I will be back.
