About Harold T. Brown

I'm a fisherman to the core. I can share with you the best spots on the lake. I have landed some huge bass, lakers and salmon in my day. Don't hesitate to ask.

Harold T. Brown purchased this cottage in 1970

Why Harold T. Brown chose Lake George Area

If you are a camera enthusiast this is the place for you. Or, better still, if you are an artist the palette will come in handy. The views are stupendous and the sunsets overwhelming. If you are a writer or reader of books you are assured the peace and tranquility required for that purpose.

What makes this cottage unique

Sitting or sunning oneself at the very point with its seclusion is an experience unimaginable-can only be realized by doing it.

Swimming in the lake is divine, soothing and refreshing. If you are a fisherman then you have to go for the Lakers, Salmon or trophy Bass.

We just arrived home from our two week trip to Lake George, where we totally enjoyed our lovely stay. Upon arriving, we were greeted by the Brown's, who were kind, courteous, and very friendly and accommodating. The cottage was really nice, spacious, well equipped , and very comfortable. It was surrounded by water on three sides, and made you feel as if you were on your own private island, with many areas designed to sit and relax. Swimming, fishing, and boating were just steps away. The views were absolutely magnificent from all sides, and the sunsets were breathtaking. We have been going to Lake George for many years, but this was our first experience at this cottage, and we loved it! We hope to come again next year.

Week at the lake.

  • 4 of 5

We have not been to Lake George in almost 20 years.

Now with 3 kids (boys) we wanted them to experience staying at the lake.

We arrived on Saturday 1 hour early for 4PM check in and were met by Mr. and Mrs. Brown. We went over the house and property and had a pleasant conversation.

First of all, property location is unbelievable.

Lake on 3 sides and even with homes around its very private.

Views were spectacular, morning, daytime and sunset in the evening.

My wife is not a morning person but each day I would find her on the deck outside of the kitchen with cup of coffee and enjoying the view.

Usually we love to go out and check things to do in the area but this wasn’t the case this time. Kids and our two dogs had so much fun (and so did we) that no one wanted to leave anywhere.

House was in fair condition, with everything functioning properly.

Not luxurious but clean and comfortable.

Everyone can’t wait to go back next year.

Owner's Response: The guests of the property was a mixture of young and younger, .i.e. Father, Mother and 3 impressionable but adventurous boys. They came equipped for the sporting and camping on our beautiful pristine lakeside peninsular. They hung together like a family thoroughly involved and for the time I observed them they were totally mesmerized by the solitude, majestic views and the ebb and flow of the waters of the queen of American lakes, Lake George. Their evenings were highlighted by an evening gathering at the fire pit under the starlit evening sky. At which time they swapped stories, I imagine, of their independent forays of the day. I was impressed by their good manners and their eagerness to pack in as much as they could absorb. The father went one greater by taking breathtaking photos of their stay at our home using a drone camera and the photography is something to behold. He sent these pictures to me and I was so impressed by the detail and surrounding mountains with the glittering blue water splashing the shores I decided to enclose a few in my homeaway ad. To make a long story short this family responded to what my family has and their posting bears that out.

Serenity and Panoramic Views

  • 5 of 5

My family stayed at this house for a week in August. The house sits at the far end of a loose cluster of homes and boasts panoramic views of the bay. I don't think there is a single window in this home that does not have a spectacular view of the water and surrounding foothills. Each night, we would leave the windows open (screens shut) and fall to sleep with the sound of the water crashing on the rocks and feel the soft breeze coming in. It was heaven! The pictures on this site accurately reflect the natural beauty of the surrounding area. And because they sit on the edge of the bay, the outdoor grill and fire pit are situated so that you use both while enjoying beautiful sunsets. You can also fish right outside the house, which my two teens did every day. Literally step outside and you are feet away from the water.

We brought up 2 kayaks and tied to them to one of the three docks right outside the house. We went kayaking, swimming and fishing everyday. Many people had boats and went water skiing, etc.

The home was clean when we arrived and while the interior of the home could use some modernization, we were not staying here with the expectation of staying at a five-star hotel. We wanted peace, privacy, beauty, and to be right on top of the water, and we got it. The owners were extremely pleasant and accommodating. They were there for one day of our stay (in an adjacent home), and spent some time explaining to both me and my son the type of fish we could find in the area and how to catch them. I truly appreciated the time the owner spent with my younger "city" son teaching him how to fish. Overall, we had a great time.

Terrible Nasty Owners, Dated Property, Unclean, Unsafe, Unsanitary and OVERPRICED!!

  • 1 of 5

First off, I have been staying in Lake George for over 15 years with my family. This one time, we decided to go a little further up north to try to avoid some of the crowd. Long story short, the owners are the most rude people with absolutely no personality. For starters, when we arrived, the kitchen was disgusting, the refrigerator had a bungee cord as a makeshift shelf, the fire pit outside was full of burnt wood and ashes, and the bathroom looked like something out of a rest stop. In addition, ALL of the filters in the air conditioners were so clogged with mold and dirt that the air conditioners were not even functioning properly. Besides the condition of the house when we arrived, we were questioned upon return one night from a restaurant, as if we were a group of children, as to where we went, and why we had been out so late like it was some sort of important manner. Meanwhile we are all grown adults ranging from ages 25-50, so frankly its none of your business. We were also told upon arrival on a rainy day it was up to US to clean the entire house, which we did top to bottom only to have our security deposit kept. According to the owner, the house was worse then when we arrived, and they spent "5 hours" cleaning the floors. However, when we left the house, it was sparkling, the amount of dust we picked up under furniture and around the house in general was sickening, we cleaned the entire fire pit, and also went above and beyond to follow all of the rules given to us. Overall this house should be demolished and I caution ANYONE interested in this house to NOT RENT.

Owner's Response: There are two stories to a story. This is mine. When introduced to our cottage it was with the understanding there would be 1 dog. However, it turned out the premises was harboring 3 dogs, obviously brought in by stealth of night. Instead of a garbage pail per week there were 4. Burdensome, I would say. The floors reeked of big stubborn clumps of dog hair embedded into the floor and corners of the dwelling. Adding to this the clumps were stuck to the floor by use of some floor application. My wife and I have been renting our cottage for 40+ years and all we have heard in that time," how our place and our attitudes shine". The reason for the untrue rhetoric was because I felt the security payment was not negotiable. The party then delivered a threat about delivering a scathing attack on their stay if I persisted in holding back the $200.00 security. I then proceeded in delivering a correspondence to the party in question agreeing to hold only 50%. This was prior to her false negative response. This was a topic originally discussed and agreed upon previously without the threat of a very negative response. However, the party was not in the mood of complacency. My advice: Be doubly sure who you rent to. If I was permitted to give this party's name I would for the purpose of sparing renters an anguish which I had to personally endure.
