About the property

EEfficiency and whimsy in a Victorian reno house 3 bedroom, loft, 2.5 bathroom

Location is our key to Toronto. Park your car behind the house sited on a historic tree lined street in the heart of metropolitan Toronto. Relax with free wifi after your Toronto day on the upstairs private deck that opens out from the master bedroom with ensuite, join friends under the gaze of the CN Tower. The 3 bedrooms and reading loft are well spaced for privacy and 2.5 bathrooms, one a powder room on the main floor. The kitchen is bright and fully equipped but then too are the many international cuisine offerings around the corner. The main floor is open plan with two tables to spread worksheets and gather. Parking is behind the house, easily accessed through a latched gate in the deck off the kitchen. Equipped for children or occasions requiring an ironing board, just park and go lightly through Toronto by transit at the corner or walk. Walk 10 minutes to Bell Lightbox Theatre, 5 minutes walk through Grange Park to AGO Jackman Theatre or Scotiabank Theatre at John and Richmond. Walk to the best and vital: Queen Street West shopping and Entertainment, the entertainment begins with 4 minute walk. Cultural events, Financial District, the University Hospital Network, University of Toronto. Transit is half a block and the tram runs every 3 minutes. Grange Park and the Art Gallery of Toronto are steps away as are transit links by streetcar and subway. Rent cars or bikes just down the street. Open the door to home from your home to an airy house with wifi, cable, and an efficient urban kitchen complete with appliances, blender, ice, and laundry. Cookies and coffee welcome you. A discrete powder room on the main floor, one ensuite upstairs and one 4 piece located between two more bedrooms. Fresh towels, soaps and shampoos, windows and skylight with screens that open and of course air conditioning. Queen Drycleaners 2 blocks away or an iron and board are upstairs. We have left you current event agendas, magazines and maps. Choose among the many international restaurants and a favourite is just up Spadina and open till 2:00 a.m.

Swivel TV lets you crash on the couch, or share time with friends by the electric fireplace. Easy to be ready to take on Toronto!

Beside the master, there is a single bedroom that includes a staircase to a reading loft. There are books and board games left here and a double air mattress is optional. Pass the four piece bathroom, take in historical photos of Toronto, and the third bedroom, double, waits.

If you forget your wardrobe, wonderful shopping is on Queen. Food basics are near and also the pleasures of Kensington Market and Chinatown. Pick up a bottle of wine at Spadina and King, 3 blocks and celebrate. Family friendly, two or four footed. Be home.

About Suzanne

A Vancouver transplant, Toronto has been home since 1977. Many changes, many travels to Asia, India and Europe but always home is here. Toronto embraces many, from many places and backgrounds which is what appealed to me about my home and from where my children grew.

Suzanne purchased this house in 1982

Why Suzanne chose Grange Park

Location. Location. Parking. Classic Victorian street from which you can walk to park, arts, community life, transit and universities. A mixed neighbourhood of all sorts from all places keeps vitality. Steps to great coffee, fresh local and foreign foods and the house itself is light, airy with high ceilings. Its laid out in such a way our family and friends were able to share or seclude. Great view of the skyline, especially the CN tower at night. Best of all, you can walk for everything.

What makes this house unique

Classic Victorian, urban efficiency, and view of CN tower from the deck allows you to know you are in Toronto! Benefit is park the car, take tram down to Harbourfront ferries and enjoy a day with friends, family. Rent a surrey with four wheels for cycle around Toronto Islands. Home again, feet up and relax. Or, just a few steps to explore the AGO, dine and enjoy. An easy walk to U of Toronto and OCAD and the recreation programs in Grange Park at University Settlement. What I liked best when I lived here was I could know where people were but squirrel myself off. The open plan is bright, cheerful and efficient. We were 6 plus. It was a walk to vet, a walk to the best health care in Toronto. Plus, great neighbours, not many move from here, and here I plan to retire.

Our home is located right in the middle of everything, and yet the street is a peaceful quiet residential street – haven in the heart of it all. The neighbourhood reflects social changes in Toronto since its 1872 inception, from Irish origins, Finnish, Hippies, Chinese, Vietnamese, Students, Co-Op and City Home and Urban Professionals of all sorts. Original Weston Bakery was here and University Settlement House for Community needs as Music, Arts, Swimming and Childcare. We are located right in the center of it all, a central hub to everything that you want to explore. On one side we have the financial district, University Health Network & other hospitals, cultural centers such as AGO, TIFF and the Four Seasons Performing Center, Eaton Center, Nathan Philips Square, the Metro Convention Center and 3 universities all at your fingertips. On the other Baldwin Village, Kensington Market, Chinatown, Queen Street West (rated by Vogue as the 2nd hippest district in the world), King St, etc.

Family Visit

  • 5 of 5

We had a family stay at Suzanne's House last week, we travelled from Glasgow to visit family and travel around Toronto.

The house was an excellent choice with great views of my favourite place in Toronto (The CN Tower). The house was superb with lovely decor, well equipped, clean, tidy and airy. We were pleasantly surprised with the internal size and room dimensions , the upstairs balcony was a great place to relax after a hard day site seeing!

A nice location very close to all attractions and very convenient for restaurants, shops..etc.

We hope to be back very soon and will most definitely be back to see Suzanne.

Thank you Suzanne for all your help booking and looking after us, 10/10.

Regards Stephen.

Excellent Location, Plenty of Space, Very clean

  • 4 of 5

Our family of 5 enjoyed Suzanne's comfy house near downtown Toronto. The house was very clean and met our needs. For the price the location is outstanding, very quiet neighborhood, short walk to entertainment district, downtown, Chinatown, and other nice neighborhoods. We are walkers and we were able to see a lot of Toronto from this house. Wifi worked perfectly, coffee maker was good, beds and furniture were basic but satisfactory. all we needed to rest and relax after long days of touring an awesome city!

Perfect spot for enjoying the city!

  • 5 of 5

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our week stay at Suzanne's house; she had the house set-up with maps and recommendations upon our arrival and even went as far to verify we had everything we needed during our stay. I would recommend her house to anyone looking to enjoy Toronto's sites and adventures. We truly enjoyed the patio and second floor deck!

Central, homely and well recommended.

  • 5 of 5

We are a family of 5 including 3 adult children in their late teens and early twenties. Not having been to Toronto before, this property made us fall in love with the city. It is in a great location right next to Chinatown with most of Toronto's main attractions, including the CN Tower, the Marina, the City Hall etc being within a 15-20 minute walk. The Art Gallery is just round the corner as are any number of restaurants and bars.

The house is extremely well equipped and spacious which made our stay very comfortable. Would definitely choose it as a base if and when we return to Toronto.

Thanks Suzanne for being such a great host.

Car: not necessary

The best of Toronto is steps away. Walk to TIFF locations: Bell Lightbox and Scotiabank Theatre . Get outside and walk Spadina. Open doors into Chinatown, try the coconut buns and cross Dundas to Kensington Market. Take a date for dinner and explore the Art Gallery of Ontario. At the corner catch a tram and drop yourself at Harbourfront ferries for a day on Toronto Island. Shop till you drop on Queen, or the Eaton's Centre - walk and enjoy parking the car behind the house. Here for medical work or visit, you can walk to University hospitals. Be here, walk from here to the TIFF, or walk to the Rogers Skydome. Walk to University of Toronto, take 2 subway stops to the Museum. Toronto is all yours!
