The home recently changed ownership and many upgrades and renovations have been completed. The interior has been freshly painted and the cool terrazzo floors have been beautifully refinished. There are new furnishings, including new beds, mattresses, linens, flat-screen TVs, and lighting, throughout. A new dryer was installed in the convenient laundry area. The house has a clean, fresh, more modern feel and is now ready to be thoroughly enjoyed by our guests!
With two beds, 1 full bathroom and 1 extra utility room with toilet and sink, and a sleeper sofa that increases the available accommodation to sleep six guests, this house offers fantastic value. Harbor Drive South is one of a very few available Venice Island homes that can be rented for shorter stays (as short as 1 week). While in and around the house, everyone is assured of great comfort and privacy. All of the new mattresses including the queen sized mattress in the designer brand pullout couch, are extremely comfortable. A large living room feels all the more so thanks to high ceilings, with cooling Terrazzo tile underfoot.
Guests with laptops will appreciate the convenience of high-speed Internet, and all will enjoy flat screen TVs with cable and HDTV. The second bedroom has an additional flat screen TV which adds convenience for families with children or couples vacationing together.
Return from an enjoyable golf game at one of Venice’s many courses and enjoy an evening cocktail with loved ones. Walk together just a few minutes to the beach for the spectacular Gulf sunsets. This condo is clean and comfortable but not updated like high end condo/motel rentals from major rental chains. Venice is a quiet town dedicated to the many senior citizens that live there. The streets and sidewalks are very well maintained so it is easy to walk everywhere on the island safely except for the semi-circular driveway of this condo unit where the asphalt is falling apart into large chunks that are easy to trip over. The interior of the condo is well maintained and clean. The street traffic is quite noisy during the day because it is on a major thoroughfare and another street dead ends in front of this condo. Traffic noise begins picking up right around 7:00am or at sun up with many large lawn care and city vehicles traveling on Harbor Drive. Convenient access to the beach except that you cannot park your car at the closest beach, Golden Beach, without a special pass, it is for members only. It is about a ten minute walk to Golden Beach. Many other beaches are available with adequate parking. It is very nice to have a washer and dryer available in the unit.
WE had a very good visit with family in Venice and appreciated the comfortable home base. The bed was a little hard for us. We like the pillow top beds we find at some facilities. Other than being on a busy street and hearing a few trucks in the morning, it was a very good stay for us.
While the accomodations were not luxurious, it was plenty for our group of 6. The beaches were what made the getaway. The location of the property was great -- close to a selection of beaches. The house was located in a nice quiet neighborhood, with our house probably one of the simplest ones -- but that was okay. Publix was very close by, as well as various shops of Venice. Nokomis Beach was the best beach, and the drive along Casey Key that was lined with multi million dollar homes was fun. The nearby beach with Sharkys was great for finding shark's teeth. Some may mind the noise in the second bedroom because it has an air conditioner unit that has to be run all day. It has an air vent, but it needs more. It's an addition. All other rooms did fine with central air. But really, when we consider what we paid, we cannot complain. We would stay there again.
From this unit one could walk or ride a bike to town or the beach. Ali the basics are supplied for you. The management team leaves very specific instructions on tenant expectations and contact information if something needs attending. Will be back again.
Lovely weather, good sidewalks for morning or evening walks, many restaurants in the quaint downtown which is less than a mile away. The beach is very narrow in places which doesn't allow for walking at high tide in some places. The jetties downtown, where the boats enter and exit are a nice place to spend an afternoon.
We were very satisfied with the half of the duplex we stayed in. It was clean, nice space, great that there was a couple of TVs and DVD players so if you have guests, everyone can be entertained if there are different interests. It is on a rather main road so for me, it was noisy. Great location in terms of being about a 10 minute walk to Golden Beach and a 15 minute walk to downtown. But don't expect 'quiet'. Highly recommended otherwise.
