Cleaning fees are the only other cost of your stay, one exit-cleaning regardless of period ($99 minimum); and one required every three weeks of stay; no other fees, taxes or hidden charges. However, *please* note that there is a $1K security deposit. This is returned with within a week of your exit. I understand that this is not standard, but the furnishings in the apartment require it. E.g., if you stay six months, there is a rental fee and a $1000 deposit from which $99 will be deducted for one cleaning. For 8 months the rental fee would double, but the deposit and cleaning deduction would be the same.

1. Are there more pictures?
We've limited the number of pictures because we have found that it was better to put the rooms particulars in the 'Details' tab. There are no additional photographs to send.
2. Is there laundry in the building?
There are no facilities in the building; there may actually be laws against that in brownstones in the City. The easiest is to either drop-off, or have picked up for free at the apartment, your laundry for wash-and-fold by Little J Cleaners. They will also deliver for free.
3. Why do you charge separately for cleaning? Why not fold it into the price?
The number of cleanings required varies by length of stay & the amount may vary by depth of cleaning needed. Also, the cleaning fee simply goes directly to the cleaning company & is determined by them.

Yes, one thing, and to my potential future guests, please do not be put off by this, but, please, do not ask me what the best price I can offer you is. It starts the communication off on the wrong foot. There are no negotiations about price; the accommodations are being offered at excellent rates & at my average cost (NYC is crazy expensive) ; all times & rates are fixed. We had a great 5 night stay in this delightful apartment. First off the location is excellent; a beautiful tree lined neighbourhood street with some great restaurants including one just downstairs and only a couple of blocks from the activity of west village. Secondly the apartment is wonderfully sized, high ceilings, great light, wooden floors, good sized bed, ample dining table, small but equipped kitchen and bathroom, tastefully decorated, generous space and perfect for a couple. Thirdly the big terrace which is private to the apartment is a fabulous feature in the middle of New York city and is perfect for breakfast and taking the sun as the sun hits the deck from morning through to midday - it was a great treat. Fourthly the owner Scott made the whole renting and settling in experience seamless - all done electronically apart from key handover - and is well prepared with tips for area and house info. This was our first time renting a place rather than a hotel and we will definitely do it again. It was wonderful to have the feeling of 'coming home' after work meetings/tourism/dinners/theatre and I appreciated the privacy of having an apartment. I highly recommend the experience and specifically this place - it went beyond our expectations in terms of comfort, ease and enjoyment.
My partner and I stayed in Scott's greenwich village apartment in May. I cannot recommend it highly enough. The apartment was spacious and well equipped thankfully very quiet as most days it was a welcomed retreat from the city mahem! Scott was so helpful bringing forward our check in time at short notice, helping us to book show tickets prior to arrival and e-mailing us with lots of useful tips and recommendations for good places to eat etc.His contact was helpful but never intrusive. The biggest plus to the apartment is the decking area, it is beautiful during the day if a little noisy at night because of the restaurant downstairs had a large extractor right outside the back door. It was fine though definately did not dampen our spirits. The area is fabulous lots to do and see with a great laid back feel. I believe this apartment gets booked out fairly surprisingly, so book well in advance and enjoy the unique NYC experience. Thanks Scott.
This place is amazing in the perfect location! The apartment has everything that you could possible need and is incredibly comfortable. For those that are not familiar with the City, this really is the ideal neighborhood to stay in. The street is very safe and quiet, close to the subway and within walking distance of the best restaurants and shopping Scott was a great host making sure I was well taken care of. When I emailed him questions, he responded immediately. The patio out back is gorgeous and so rare in NYC. I can't wait to return in warmer weather so I can use it. I would absolutely recommend this place to everyone!
WONderful apartment! Clean and very quiet (for New York, anyway) and in a fantastic location. The apartment was very hot, but that is no fault of Scott's because you can't control the temperature in the unit itself. Scott is the best.... communicates on a timely basis; met us at the apartment and gave us the lay of the land; and followed up to make sure all was OK. And the fresh flowers were a real treat!!!!

Scott was a great host. Not only did he accommodate our extremely late arrival, but also made sure he shared some of his favourite haunts in the local area. The apartment is very charming. It's an old brownstone, so comes with its own idiosyncrasies and quirks, such as a tiny, but very functional kitchen and a bathroom which works beautifully but is a little cranky. However, it's very spacious, extremely comfortable (very comfortable bed, which is super important) and even has a lovely outside space - and it's in a great location. If you're looking for the 'real charm' of New York instead of slick modernity, give Scott's place a whirl.

Just like the pictures! A great place for me to come and rest my head amidst all of the NYFW madness! Scott was very helpful and communicative both leading up to and during my stay there... even responding to a 2am request to extend my stay by a day! (I just needed one more stay in NYC!)

The classic setting of a high-ceilinged 1852 townhouse, with beautiful interior features and a large outside, south-facing deck, is what has held me and many, many visitors in its grasp for over twenty years of houseguests.
The apartment is the first floor of an old brownstone on the best block in the west village. It has what look like 18 foot ceilings, original molding, two decorative fireplaces and its own deck. This being New York, you're steps away from the best bagels, little restaurants, bars - none of them chains.
If you're looking for hotel or condo style luxury this isn't the place. If you're looking to live like the natives, you will love it. Scott is very responsive and the place is spotless. I've been staying here every time I come to the city now. In summary: it does not have fancy kitchen or bathroom. It does have lots of charm, safety and that great location. Highly recommended.
We have been to New York many times and more and more we like renting an apartment where we can fix our own breakfast or an occasional meal to escape the constant restaurant routine. Though the kitchen is tiny, it is fully equipped and should be familiar to anyone who knows NYC apartment kitchens. The dining room table is nicely sized and you can enjoy your coffee and New York Times in the morning before heading out to enjoy the city.
The high ceilings in the flat give a good roomy feel to the space and there are a couple of sitting areas to gather and recharge. Two window air conditioners did the job as he city was beginning to feel the summer heat. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom and shower worked fine. Overall the apartment has the feel of a well lived in flat that a friend has let you use for the week. There was someone to meet us with the keys and our arrival was easily arranged in advance
Location is a real plus, between Sixth and Seventh Avenues with subway lines on the corners at 14th Street. Plenty of restaurants in the area and markets for provisions are an easy walk nearby. This visit we stayed downtown most of the time and enjoyed the walk Washington Square to visit friends.
There is a restaurant operating right next door to the walk up stairs to the flat, but noise from diners was never an issue. There is a small deck at the rear of the property, but as it was getting hot, we didn't avail ourselves of this feature, but imagine that in spring or fall when the weather is right it would be fun to sit outside.
This property in Greenwich Village was wonderful! We enjoyed everything about this apartment, especially the back terrace! The space was clean, comfortable and welcoming. It was very easy to get around the city either by foot or subway. Would definitely recommend this apartment!
This wonderful brownstone is very spacious and clean. There are lots of windows to let in light, as well as a good sized deck in the back. The apartment alone is a wonderful space within the city, the deck is icing on the cake. The unit is very centrally located with easy access to both the 1,2,3, and the A, C, E subway lines just a short, block away. The property is exactly as presented, it is very clean and properly maintained. Exemplary communication and customer service were provided by both the owner and his assistant who met us for our introductory walk through. My traveling companion liked the property so much that she will be returning to stay again later this year. I would highly recommend this property for a girl trip, couple, or small family. The location is a great starting point for any adventures in NYC.
During our first visit to New York we stayed in this apartment and immediately felt at home. It is situated in a scenic street with some good restaurants and subway stations nearby. You can walk to Union Square, Greenwich Village and Chelsea, which are in my view the most appealing parts of New York City. The apartment is situated in a 160 year old building and it shows, but it has a lot of atmosphere, a very warm decoration and a lovely terrace. The bed was superb. In the evening there is some noise coming from the suction device of the restaurant downstairs and the restaurants guests, but we were away most of the time and the doors to the bedroom can be closed, so it did not bother us. Both beforehand and during our stay, we had the feeling that we were very welcome to stay in the apartment: there was a great communication, we were met personally and even some nice roses were there to welcome us. We can highly recommend this apartment and would love to stay there again on another occasion.

The location is incredible- you can get anywhere in the city quickly by subway from here - both the East and West sides- or if you are more of a taxi-taker there are always abundant cabs on this block. Lots of cute shops and great restaurants super nearby.
I loved the high ceilings, hardwood floors and ambiance of this charming classic New York brownstone.The floor plan gave the place a very spacious feeling with lots of natural light. The furnishings were lovely and had character without that "purchased for a rental unit" decor you find in many of these places set up specifically to rent out. The bathroom has the classic original tile, etc.
The place was spotless with all the comforts well provided for by the thoughtful host.

Rates are based on 1-2 person occupancy. 3 people maximum and must rent additional fold-out bed as well as pay 1.5 times guest fee.
Rentals are welcome for any time period EXCEPT 3 nights after or before existing rentals, unless your desired say is two weeks or greater.
In other words, if the apartment is available on Night 0 (for example, a Tuesday night), we would gladly host you starting Night 0 or Night 1 or Night 2 (in this example, Thursday night). The apartment would not be available Night 3 (here, Friday night), but would be next available Night 5 (here, Saturday night). And the same would be true for departure.
We know this is a but unusual and complex, but our pricing is so close to our costs, that leaving three nights, which are unrentable given our minimum, will mean we will actually lost money hosting you, our otherwise extremely welcome guest.
All rates fixed, there are no "better," "best," "discount," or "special" rates. Booking of the calendar is for nights. Thus, if the 16th available & the 17th not, that means the apartment is available until 3 p on the 17th.
Please note that check-in is 6p & check-out 3p.
Cleaning exit fee, regardless of period ($99 minimum < 3 weeks); plus an additional cleaning must be done every two (2) weeks for the USD99 minimum.
$1K separate security deposit receives 4% p.a. interest & 2-day return on my side; we do not have control over how long your bank or credit card company will take to release the funds.
