We stayed at this property for a week in August of 2015.
This house is large with historic charm and warmly decorated. It has many bedrooms, including a separate bedroom over the garage that was great for our teenager. The house is bright, clean and well maintained; the beds were very comfortable. Unlike many other houses we have rented, sheets and towels were included and the house has a large washer and dryer. The cozy study/library was great for morning coffee and reading the paper, while the family room was a good place to gather to watch a movie. We especially liked the three large reclining lounge chairs. The kitchen was well- equipped with pots, pans, utensils, coffee maker, dishwasher and microwave. We didn’t need to do any anything upon our arrival; no cleaning, no making beds; just enjoy ourselves.
The house is situated on a very large property. There is an outdoor grill and patio overlooking fields with visiting deer. We were happy to find we could hang a hammock in a tree in the yard relaxing to the sounds of birds and the summer breeze. A high point every morning was taking our dog for a walk along the property’s nature path and letting him run free in the fields set back behind woods that separated it from the road.
The private location gave us the quiet, bucolic atmosphere we were looking for while being close to the restaurants and stores in nearby Belfast, Camden and Lincolnville. We enjoyed going to the video rental store in Camden for movies to watch on the large screen TVs.
During that week, we took advantage of house’s wonderful proximity to the areas wealth of activities; we biked on Islesboro, attended the Lobster Festival in Rockland, canoed on Lake Megunticook, kayaked up Trues Pond, biked on country roads right from the house, and swam in Steven’s Creek Lake and Lake Saint George.
We think this home with all its amenities, beautiful surroundings and central locale is the perfect place for a true Maine stay; whether a small family, reunion or a multiple family vacation.
We had such a lovely time! Our group travelled up to attend the common ground fair in Unity. The house was comfortable, clean and had everything we needed for the weekend. Easy to find and quiet! We'll be back!
We had an amazing time in Maine. The house is very beautiful spacious. We look forward to visiting this place again!!
The house was great and there was plenty of room for my guests. It was great location.
The was one bed that was unuseable though as it seemed to be a board with very soft mattress.
I would use again for lots of guests if needed
My family and I had a relaxing time at this large yet charming home. The views were incredible. The bathrooms were updated and easily accessible for my elderly and visually impaired grandfather. Absolutely everything was in the home that we needed aside from our personal groceries. We were able to easily access various points of interest in the Camden Area.
