Overview

About the property

The Smith Homestead in Alford, Massachusetts has been in our family for well over two hundred years and was once a dairy farm. We are located in one of the nicest settings in the Berkshires, with over 25 acres of fields and woods, and the crystal clear Alford Brook running through. We provide accommodations for single or double occupancy in our East Room suite, composed of a sitting room with fireplace, a spacious bedroom and a luxurious spa bath. We have wireless internet access. We offer a light breakfast of coffee, tea, along with fresh seasonal fruits with yogurt and or granola, fresh croissants and bread.

Take hikes through our fields and woods. Look for wildlife. The bird watching is great, I love to see the bluebirds especially. We are minutes away from Tanglewood, the Norman Rockwell Museum, Kripalu, and many other Berkshire attractions. Great restaurants are nearby in the surrounding area.

Come stay with us, relax in the quiet, the calm, the babbling brook. We are sure you will be pleased!

Wonderfully friendly hosts, idyllic setting

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at Susan and Tom's place in Alford, on our trip to the Berkshires to spend some time at Tanglewood. The guest room with its own new bath is very private and comfortable. Susan provides a delicious breakfast and their dog Beanie is a delight, always willing to play fetch with you or show you the scenery just out the door. We had very nice conversations with both Susan and Tom and they are truly accommodating and experienced hosts, eager to tell you about nearby sites and trails or talk about any other subject. Highly recommended!

5 star gem you won't be disapointed

  • 5 of 5

Our short stay at the Smith luxury suite was fabulous. The accommodations were 5 stars. The location is centrally located where attractions and New York and Vermont were short scenic drives.

Susan and Tom and their daughter Julia are delightful, we enjoyed spending some time with them it was like we were with family.

Breakfast served was great, scones and muffins freshly made, served with fresh fruit a nice start to the day.

And lastly Beanie their border collie, being a dog lover I enjoyed playing with him. Waking up and going outside for fresh air and to be greeted by this energetic dog with stick or ball ready to play still brings a smile to our faces.

If you are looking for a great place to get away from it all you will not be disappointed a 5 star gem in the Berkshire's.

Cozy room with great breakfast

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at Susan and Tom's for Presidents Day weekend. It was a last minute booking as we got last minute lift tickets to Catamount ski mountain. It was a perfect stay for us in a quiet area of the Berkshires. The jacuzzi tub was AMAZING after a long day of skiing (the air jets are great). The bathroom was lovely and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was delightful, delivered fresh to our door in a basket with coffee, juice, and milk in mason jars, fresh fruit, and freshly baked scones and muffins. It was my favorite part of the stay. Susan and Tom were very nice and had great suggestions for resturaunts and other things to do in the area. I would highly recommend staying here.

PS- My husband had a great time playing with their dog, Beannie! A friendly pup who is very skilled with a ball!

Relaxing stay with beautiful surroundings

  • 5 of 5

The Smith Homestead is a lovely gem tucked away on a beautiful piece of land in the Berkshires. Susan and Tom were very welcoming hosts and the suite was perfectly comfortable (especially the Jacuzzi tub!) and exactly as shown in pictures. We were in a great location to seeing all of the local attractions, while still feeling private. As previously stated, Susan's breakfasts each morning were a wonderful treat. We would stay here again in a heartbeat. Thank you Susan and Tom for sharing your home with us!
