Overview

About the property

Vineyard, Views, 3 + bedrooms, guest house, pool, whimsical canvas tent

Alexander Valley Ranch (3+ bedrooms, sleeps 8) is the perfect setting for those looking to explore the extraordinary wines, top restaurants and idyllic natural beauty of the Healdsburg area. Walk down a private lane past Cabernet vines to the famous Jimtown store, and the Alexander Valley Bar at the Medlock Ames tasting room which features music on Sunday nights. It is just 6 miles to downtown Healdsburg and a short drive to the more than 40 wineries located in Alexander Valley, Healdsburg, Dry Creek and Chalk Hill.

Set on a slight knoll, you are above the valley floor, surrounded by gardens, meadows, and vineyards as far as the eye can see. The sun soaked Great Room has an intimate living room and fireplace at one end; a dining area with a large farmer’s wood table; and French doors that lead to the yard, pool area, guest house, gardens and on-property vineyard.

The fully equipped kitchen features Viking appliances, stone counter tops, and cabinets stocked with the latest gourmet equipment, bar accessories and beautiful dishes and stemware.

Downstairs are two bedrooms – the master has a king bed, ensuite marble and glass bathroom plus sweeping views of the mountains and vineyards. The guest room has a queen bed and an adjacent bathroom with a claw-footed bathtub. Upstairs is an expansive loft or playroom with two day beds.

Across the yard is a guest house with country French furnishings. Upstairs is a bedroom with queen bed, living room, dining area, and charming kitchen overlooking the vineyards. Downstairs you will find a full bathroom, sauna and TV room.

On the grounds you will find:

swimming pool (non-heated) with fantastic views

sports area with a rustic bocce court and outdoor ping pong table

• gardens and orchard, and giant fig trees

• vegetable and herb garden, giant fig trees

• A whimsical fully decorated raised canvas tent! Adults will cherish this spot for its peacefulness – read, nap, do yoga or simply daydream. For children it’s the perfect playhouse, fort, hideout -- where they will create a world of their own.

The Alexander Valley region is filled with top wineries (the Stonestreet tasting room is just down the road) and local charm from the quirky Jim Town Store with its nostalgic paraphernalia (ideal for breakfast or a picnic lunch) to the Hawkes and Medlock Ames tasting rooms. A short drive takes you to Healdsburg with its charming stores, and world class restaurants (dont miss Par Take Kendall Jackson’s delightful ‘tasting room meets restaurant’). Consider a stop in Geyserville at the Francis Ford Coppola Winery + Restaurant where the famous director’s collection of his movie memorabilia is on display. Then play a game of bocce in the vineyards before you sit on the restaurant patio enjoying a special meal.

Other nearby wineries include Jordon, Stryker, Robert Young, Murphy-Good, Chalk Hill and Silver Oak. Restaurants favored by BeautifulPlaces guests in Healdsburg: Scopa, Willi’s Seafood and Raw Bar, Barndiva, Baci Café and Wine Bar.
