Indigo Seas is a tropical, secluded two bedroom, two bathroom cottage overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. There is a guest house on the property with a third bedroom and bathroom available for rent if you need more space. This cottage is approximately 100 feet from the water, and elevated by about 70 feet, providing a spectacular, 180 degree, unobstructed view of the ocean. The peacefulness of this house makes it the perfect place for couples and families to enjoy their relaxing break.
Situated on Ocean Drive in Rainbow Bay on the island of Eleuthera in the Bahamas, there are many beautiful beaches nearby, including Rainbow Bay Beach on the sheltered 'Caribbean' side of the island. Rainbow Bay Beach is one of the best beaches on the island, is calm and shallow, offers great snorkeling, and provides shaded picnic tables and benches. Indigo Seas is also within walking distance of the Atlantic side beaches Smuggler's Beach, Hidden Beach, Twin Beach and Come & Go Beach, and chances are good that you will have all of them to yourselves. Ocean Drive is a quiet, scenic road that runs parallel to the ocean for several miles, perfect for walking or jogging.
Indigo Seas has front and back decks to enjoy the fantastic, panoramic views of the ocean from James Point in the South to Harbour Island in the North. You can relax on the deck and watch the cruise ships go by. The island is only a half mile wide at this spot, so you have easy access to both the Atlantic and Caribbean sides.
When you arrive at Indigo Seas...
The front door opens, revealing an airy, open plan kitchen and dining area. Beyond is the living room, connected by french doors to the full width back deck overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The master bedroom off the living room has full views of the ocean and both bedrooms have cross breezes from ample windows on two sides. The house is furnished with natural wicker that stands on a varnished plank floor. Large overhead fans accentuate the tray ceilings throughout the house. All your living is contained on one floor with three step access from the driveway.
The house is connected to town water and also has a 10,000 gallon rainwater cistern under the deck as a backup water supply. Water outages are not uncommon in the out islands so a backup water supply is essential.
Our central location on Eleuthera provides for convenient sightseeing on this 110 mile long island, and day trips to Lighthouse Beach at the southern tip or Harbour Island and Spanish Wells at the northern tip. Short flights from Miami or Fort Lauderdale in Florida (45 minutes) and Nassau (15 minutes) arrive at Governor's Harbour airport (GHB) 15 minutes to the south, and North Eleuthera airport (ELH) 30 minutes to the north. There is also a ferry available from Nassau. Rental cars or taxis are readily available and our local caretaker can pick you up at either airport, provide you with a rental car, and show you to the house if you wish. Grocery stores, restaurants, gas stations, and beverage stores are all within a 5-10 minute drive. The nearby Rainbow Inn has some of the best food on the island, as well as a bar and live music.
Eleuthera is known for it's pristine and deserted pink sand beaches and it's friendly out island charm. Tourists are well received on the island, and there is very little crime, so you can enjoy your stay and explore this historic island without concerns for safety.

The house was great! Had all amenities for our family. The coolers, water packs, water bottles were perfect for day trips all over the island. The snorkel gear and beach chairs were great too. Having a morning coffee or evening cocktail on the deck was delightful. The house always had a nice breeze blowing through. Daisy came to visit for a bit and my kids were thrilled. Location is good as we wanted to be close to the surfing beach, however the drive at night to and from Governor's Harbour for dinner was longer then we would like.( had young kids) Israel was very responsive to our needs and was terrific with our car rental. Overall, a great house and wonderful vacation on a beautiful island!
My wife and I enjoyed our 25th Anniversary in Eleuthera in Feb. at the wonderful Indigo Seas Cottage. (sorry for taking so long to add this review!) From first contact, the owner was wonderful and very helpful. Once we arrived, Israel Johnson and his wife Rosemary, the caretakers, were so gracious and welcoming. He met us at the airport with the rental jeep and showed us to the house. What a view from the back deck! Everything was as advertised and we had a great week. Explored all parts of the island- some areas not so easy to reach, but we gave it a try! Spent one day on Harbour Island strolling the beach and enjoying the town... but mostly stayed on the main island exploring and lounging on the secluded beaches and snorkeling- water was cold, but not so much so that we couldn't enjoy. One day, we never saw another soul on the beach the entire day- heaven! Traveled to and from Governor's Harbour and Tippy's a couple of times- very good and great atmosphere. Highly recommend Eleuthera, and Indigo Seas. It was just 2 of us, but it certainly could accommodate 6 or more with the guest house.
We booked while onsite on Eleuthera, we were into the cottage within minutes of finding it online. The owner Dave and his caretaker Johnson are incredible!
This cottage is outfitted with high quality fixins, the beds, linens, cutlery, cooking utensils, pots and frying pans, even the knives were great. Often some rentals throw in junk, but not the case here.
Couches comfy for curling up and reading a book or if you must, and I admit we did.....turn on the T.V. High speed internet and WiFi were good. There was also a local cel phone available for our use too.
Rainbow is a great location and this cottage is a gem. The Atlantic breezes were wonderful, we did not turn on the air conditioning in our bedroom....didn't even consider it.
The extras of the snorkle gear, beach things and the extras in the house were very helpful.
We loved the area. And founds some nice eats in J.C too...local foods. We had stayed closer to governerners Harbour in the past but not next time, we will be back to Indigo Seas....
Thanks Dave for saving our vacation!!!!
This was my first time to Eleuthera but my traveling friend had been several times and she introduced me to the "ways of the Island". Eleuthera is NOT for everyone but for those who desire to rest and refresh and go "off grid' for a while, its the best. We could not have been more pleased with our house. Perfect. Everything about it. It is well stocked and just downright cute. The Ocean breeze and the gorgeous sunsets made us say WOW everyday. Our electricity went out a time or two due to a rain storm that came thru but this house is also well stocked with candles and flashlights. It was NO PROBLEM. The grill is great and we used it every night. Israel really is a caretaker, and even brought us fresh homemade bread one day. The house is centrally located to most of the good beaches and we had plenty of beach chairs, coolers and supplies for the makings of a good day on the Caribbean. I would highly recommend this house to anyone. My friend (Daphne) who has stayed in many others -says this is one of the best. Thank you for making my first trip to the Island - to my last!
Pleasantly surprised when we walked in. Clean and spacious with all the amenities. Israel helped us so much. If we had any problems he took care of them. He even came by on the last day to see how we were doing.
This property is centrally located to most areas of interest on the island. We traveled the length of the island and went to Spanish Wells and Harbour Island. Definitely will come again
We had a great time here. There were six adults and Indigo Seas met all our needs. We were able to explore the whole island, Spanish Wells, and Harbour Island. Dave was very helpful and gave us great information before we made our trip. Great views of ocean. Spectacular sunrises. It was greatly enjoyed by all.
