Bedrooms 3
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 0 - 7 nights

About the property

3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, hot tub, VIEWS & Close to downtown Boone

Welcome to Donegal (pronounced as "dun na gall", which is a beautiful town in the country of Ireland). Donegal cabin is in a great location with downtown Boone just 3-4 miles away. You will be just minutes to Boone, the campus of ASU, Mast General Store, Daniel Boone Inn, shopping, dining and everything else Boone has to offer.

This amazing and beautiful cabin has just what you're looking for: VIEWS, HOT TUB, VIEWS, POOL TABLE, VIEWS, FIRE PIT and Wi-Fi! There is a window AC unit in the upstairs king size master bedroom.

Donegal offers 3 bedrooms with 3 full bathrooms and covered front and back decks to take in the fresh mountain air and enjoy the views of the Blue Ridge Mountain views. Located on the back covered deck is a gas grill, a table with 6 chairs and rocking chairs.

The cabin does not have AC but since you're sitting above 4,200' in elevation there is always a nice breeze and the temps are about 3-6 degrees cooler than downtown Boone. During the winter months, you WILL have to have 4 wheel drive and chains to access the cabin. However this just depends on how much snow is on the ground.

MAIN FLOOR: Walk in to our bright and open floor plan with the kitchen/dining area and the living with a gas burning fire place and a 47" flat screen TV above the fireplace. There is also a bedroom with a queen size bed and a full size bathroom with a tub/shower combo.

TOP FLOOR: This entire floor is the master suite with a king size bed, walk in closet and an En Suite bathroom. This is your private retreat.

LOWER FLOOR: The family will enjoy spending time downstairs with our full size pool table, 47" flat screen Smart TV and a Xbox 360 console with a few games. The third bedrooms is also located down here with a twin bed over full bed bunk bed. There is also a futon for additional sleeping if needed.

OUTSIDE: Enjoy spending quality family time at the lower deck which has our fabulous 6-8 person hot tub! Plus you can gather around the fire pit to make S'mores, tell ghost stories or talk about what a great time everyone is having.

****If you need another cabin close by, check out View Paradise on our website. This cabin is just located less than 1/2 mile away and it can accommodate up to 6-8 more guests. Combined, these 2 cabins can sleep up to 15 people.

In the winter, Boone is where people come to choose and cut their own Christmas tree and there are 3 different ski slopes to choose from (Appalachian Ski Mountain is located between Boone and Blowing rock and is the closest to the cabin). There is plenty of fun, adventure and activities near by....Tweetsie Railroad, Mast General Store, Blowing Rock, Grandfather Mountain, Valle Crusis and the Blue Ridge Parkway just to name a few.

2 night minimum for off peak seasons

3 night minimum for select holidays and the entire month of October

4 night minimum during the Thanksgiving holiday

7 night minimum for the July 4th week and Christmas/New Year holiday

As you plan your trip to the mountains, please remember we do get rain, snow and some foggy days and occasional inconveniences which are out of our control. Winter weather in the Blue Ridge Mountains can occur from November through April. The majority of our homes are accessed by mountain roads, which WILL BE icy in winter weather. For the safety of you and your party, please be prepared to drive in snow and ice! This means 4-wheel drive, good tires AND chains. It is YOUR responsibility to be prepared for hazardous road conditions. There will be NO REFUNDS, allowances or date changes resulting from your negligence in this matter.

Perfect setting

  • 5 of 5

The cabin provided all we expected ; comfortable beds, the right amount of space, location out of Boone but not too far. All in all, a great place to stay. The agent was clear with directions, checkin and checkout were straightforward.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review of your recent stay at our cabin, Donegal. We can assure you that our cabin does NOT have termites. The elevation of the cabin is too high for termites. If you saw insects inside the cabin, it was most likely the small black ants. These ants will come out if you leave open food or fruits out, especially, during the hot summer months. I am sorry that you experienced any issues during your stay and thank you for making us aware of them. We hope that you would consider staying with us again at Donegal and High Mountain Cabin Rentals.

Beautiful views with steep, winding road

  • 4 of 5

We were in town to tour App State with my daughter and extended family. We decided on renting a cabin over hotel accommodations. The cabin was very clean, well stocked with household items, and well maintained overall. The road from downtown Boone is about 3.5 miles but about 20 minutes with a steep and winding road up the mountain. The road was paved about 2 Miles then dirt/Rock for the remainder. The drive in and out of the cabin is a bit steep in my opinion. We are from out of state and I was not prepared for the drive conditions so other reviewers may not have had same concerns. We did have AWD SUV so that was helpful. Google maps did work in getting us to the cabin but it would be nice to have day/night marker at entrance as one previous reviewer mentioned. The location is closer to Boone but did not work best for our group since we really had to think twice about going up and down the mountain from Boone. We were not planning on prepping many of our own meals other than breakfast. The heater in the main living room was a bit touchy and the fireplace was not working properly. We notified the management company but there wasn't much that could be done. We found a portable unit in a closet for the living area which did the trick. The heat worked fine in all other areas. Wifi worked great in all areas and cable tv was added bonus in living room. We did not use the pool table, hot tub or basement area. The beds were fine maybe a bit on the firm side. The worst thing other than the road was the wind noise in the cabin and creaking sounds. There was something hitting side of the outside wall near the first floor bedroom from about midnight to 5am. My daughter and I slept in that room and did not sleep well. We looked around during daylight and could not figure it out for anything. The banging sound was not constant but about every 4-5 minutes. Overall, the cabin was very clean and views were very beautiful. I deducted 1 star for the noise issue and heat. It was not the owners fault as property did not fit our needs.
