Spectacular views of Ash Cove, islands, and all the way out to the ocean from almost every room. Tall pines and fir trees whisper in the sea breeze.
Our 1905 renovated cottage is very private, 100 yards off the road and right on the water—the perfect setting for the ultimate vacation.
It’s all about the water in Harpswell. You can kayak from the front of the house--bring your own or use ours (with liability waiver) . There is a public boat launch just across the cove. Harpswell Sound and Casco Bay offer great water for fishing, sailing, motoring, or kayaking, and are easily accessed from Ash Cove.
The wrap-around porch is perfect for watching the sun rise and set, with a great view of wildlife: bald eagles, ospreys, herons, ducks, loons, cormorants, terns, harbor seals, and lobstermen. The yard is perfect for a game of badminton, horseshoes, corn hole (provided).
The house has an open floor plan. The family room has 180 degree views of the cove. The dining room is central to the house, between the family room and the kitchen, and also has water views. The kitchen is small, but we are avid cooks, so it is well-appointed. Close to the other living areas, you can cook and still be part of the conversation. Cozy living room is perfect for curling up in a big, comfy chair with a good book. Full bath and laundry are on the main floor.
Bedrooms are upstairs:
Master with king bed and full bath
Bedroom with queen bed
Bedroom with queen bed
Bedroom with single bed and twin mattress
Family bath with tub/shower.
The town of Harpswell is a set of fingerlike peninsulas stretching south from Brunswick. It has over 200 miles of shoreline with many miles of hiking trails administered by the Harpswell Heritage Land Trust.
Seafood restaurants abound around Harpswell. Family seafood restaurants and The Schoolhouse (more gourmet fare) are all a few minutes away. You’ll find a wider variety of cuisines in Brunswick. For local brew pubs try Flight Deck and Moderation Brewing, in Brunswick, and Sea Dog Brewing, in Topsham.
We want our house to be a real getaway, so there is no TV, only wi-fi for internet access. You can watch movies on your computer, and are welcome to bring your own TV and DVD player, if you wish. On rainy days, there is plenty of shopping in Brunswick, Topsham, and Freeport. Or visit the Maine Maritime Museum, in Bath, and two large multiplex cinemas--one in Brunswick and one in Topsham. All are 20 minutes away. And there is always something going on in Portland, less than an hour away: http://www.visitportland.com/calendar.aspx
Dogs (no more than 2) are welcome with permission of homeowners and a $100/dog non-refundable fee.
Please contact the owner before placing your reservation and initiating a payment online. Your rental fee will depend on the number of people in your party and whether or not you have a dog. We also have rental rules that need to be reviewed and signed prior to occupation.
