Great location, close to a lot of things

Love the beach area! It's clean and great for kids bc the water is shallow. Just a few feet away is a really great restaurant. The villa was clean, maybe a little dusty, but overall clean. My son loved staying here and we will definitely be back!

Nice cottage with great view of the lake

  • 5 of 5

This is a gated area near Lake Weir. The cottage was nicely appointed and they even left us some start-up items for the stay (the coffee was a great start). It was very clean and well-kept. The other travelers in the area were friendly and the outside was well maintained. One thing to remember about this location - do not come here in the dark for the first time. It is dark on the drive in and not as easy to maneuver if it is after sundown. This is a nice, quiet area and it is convenient to The Villages and Leesburg (27/441). There is a couple of issues. The unit does not have a laundry (it is a two bedroom and there is a laundry in the area). The beach area has mosquitoes and other large bugs that are out in the morning (they also left insect repellent in the bathroom). There are eagles and other birds that can be viewed in the area, so if you are into bird watching, you will not be disappointed.

Great cabin, great location on a great lake!

  • 5 of 5

This is a great little cabin! Very clean, and the host had provided everything we needed (and forgot to bring)! They had all the bathroom supplies, kitchen supplies, and grilling tools you'll need, including charcoal, lighter fluid, and a lighter. They even have a K-cup machine! The host also quickly saved our butts after we accidentally locked ourselves out of the cabin shortly after getting unpacked. She was there in about 30 minutes to let us back in.

Unfortunately it was a pretty rainy while we were there so we didn't get to spend as much time on the water as we had hoped, but luckily the Eaton Beach restaurant is only a few steps away and provided a great place to wait out the rain (good beer selection)! The buoys in front of the restaurant provided a great place to keep the boat in the water while we were there, but it's a bit of a hike up the hill when you're toting all of your wakeboarding gear.

The lake itself is beautiful. The water is a clear greenish water, and the lake has a sandy bottom. It can be shallow near some of the edges, but get out a ways and it's pretty deep. There are a few spots around with water smooth enough for wakeboarding, even when it's windy. The triple boat ramps at the county park (can't remember the name) are fantastic, with lots of dock space to sit while you wait on your crew. While you're not fishing or wakeboarding, you can just cruise around the lake and look at all the beautiful houses, docks, and boats, of which there are many!

If you need supplies, there's a Publix about 10 minutes away.

Overall it was a great experience and I look forward to staying there again!

Visit Attractions: Orange Blossom Opry, Grand Oaks Carriage Museum, and the Reeds Groves Farm. There is a nice town market place called the Spanish Springs Town Square that houses a fresh market where you can buy daily made bread, fresh fruit or veggies, and assortative cuts of meats.
