The Malibu Octagon is walking distance to Carbon Beach (Billionaires beach) and is less than 2 miles from Nobu & the Malibu Pier.

All furnishings, linens, dishes - everything- are new as of Summer 2015!

This unique property has been booked by Hollywood celebrities!

Can accommodate up to 6 guests. Short walk to Carbon Beach "Billionaire's Beach" a few blocks away.

This house sits across PCH from the beach - it is an unobstructed view - please note it is not ON the beach. Getting to the beach requires crossing PCH and using public access to go to Carbon Beach (1/2 miles away, beach can be entered next to 22126 Pacific Coast Highway.) Or drive to Malibu Lagoon State Beach aka Surfrider Beach (2 miles away, with amenities: bathrooms, lifeguards, etc - Cost $12 admission for parking).

This is Malibu! It's gorgeous. It has the most beautiful beaches and scenery. The people are lovely and friendly. You will likely see celebrities here - as well as dolphins, sea lions, pelicans and even whales (depending on season). Malibu has a small town feeling. Yet there are great restaurants and shops nearby. This house is located in the La Costa Beach area. Carbon Beach aka "Billionaires Beach", starts just 1 block away. Public access to Carbon Beach is just .2 miles away. Nobu is 1.2 miles away, Malibu Pier is 1.7 miles away. Malibu Lagoon State Beach is 2.0 miles away. Pepperdine University is 3.7 miles away (8 minutes drive). Local farmers market is held each Sunday with wonderful fresh fruits and vegetables and another chance to rub shoulders with celebrities.

A week minimum may be required during certain times of the year. The rate is $550-$895 a night depending on season.

We require a copy of your driver’s license, government issued identification or passport to complete the reservation.

We have 2 security cameras outside, one pointed at front door (angled, it does not view inside the house), the other at carport. We usually turn off the motion sensor when guests are present, but if noise monitor exceeds threshold, we will login and check.

Special events: We have a strict no parties’ policy, and having a party will forfeit your deposit and possibly cause us to ask you to leave. Additionally, the City of Malibu requires special event permits for any event if 15 or more people are anticipated to attend. Failure to obtain a special event permit is subject to code enforcement and loss of security deposit. We have a noise monitoring system to alert us if noise exceeds a set threshold.

This house is a dream come true. We fell in love with the location, with La Costa, and with the town of Malibu and the lovely people. Malibu is a luxurious, exotic place that is just gorgeous - but it has a small town vibe with friendly neighbors. It's hard to believe such an idyllic place exists just outside Los Angeles.

What makes this house unique

The deck. Ahhh, the deck and the living room with that amazing view! Sipping a glass of wine, reclining on the lounges and watching dolphins swim by - isn't that just about as good as it gets?

Comfortable, Cool Looking House. Great Location and View!

We had a wonderful long weekend stay at the Octagon! The house is laid out beautifully with three large, private bedrooms. It easily sleeps six and could squeeze in a few more. The kitchen is well appointed with a chef level range and oven and the living room and dining room are comfortable and roomy. The large deck has an unblocked view of the beach....there are no houses on the beach side of this block of PCH. You will be able to enjoy both sunrises and sunsets over the ocean....a unique treat. There is lots of parking behind the house (we parked as many as four cars at a time).

This location, about a mile from the Malibu Pier, allowed for short drives south to Topanga Canyon hiking and the Getty Estate ....and north to Malibu State Park, Pepperdine University, Zuma and El Matador Beach. You can even walk to Carbon Beach if you are VERY careful on PCH.

Kathryn is a great owner/host always willing to answer questions and quickly address any issues.

Wonderful place to be!

The Octagon House is a wonderful place to be.

The property was clean and well-maintained.

The owner are very nice and they provided good customer service.

St. Monica and Venice Beach and Paradise Cove are very near. There are many restaurants.

Every morning we have seen the Delphins crossing.

Lovely bright property with views of the sea and in a great location

We had a lovely stay in Kathryn's bright and beautiful beach house. It's conveniently located on the PCH in Malibu, a short drive from the pier and near lovely Carbon Beach.

The house is decorated imaginatively and has a great kitchen and 2 luxury bathrooms.

Kathryn is an attentive and responsive host. Hope to return one day.

Gorgeous house, great experience!

My family & I stayed at the Octagon and absolutely loved it! The furnishings are modern and stylish, even better than the photos. In the morning, we drank our coffee sitting on the sofa watching the ocean. In the evening, we had a BBQ on the deck and watched the waves crashing and even saw dolphins! The house was clean and the instructions clear, communication was easy and prompt. We had everything we needed - from the the fully stocked kitchen, to extra linens for the beds and bathroom. We plan to go back soon and enjoy this wonderful house again. Thank you for an amazing stay.

WORST RENTAL EXPERIENCE. Beware! Deposit and Privacy at RISK.

Let me first start off my saying that my husband and I are both physicians and traveled with our young children, nanny and another family of four. All visitors on the property were young professionals. I own and manage properties of my own. I also rent other vacation properties several times a year. I have never had a deposit held, much less additional charges applied. I have also never felt like my privacy was breached as it had been during this stay.

Negatives from our stay:

1. Front blocked by trash bin, completely full to rim with trash. Husband had physically push down trash just to make room for ours. Yet deposit held for removal of too much trash!

2. Porch dusty, outdoor furniture filthy, railings with caked on dirty that we physically spent first hour of our trip wiping down for sanitary and health concerns (children).

3. One towel so run down you could almost see right thru it- hole beginning to show. And yet, our deposit was held in part to replace dirty towels that could have been laundered.

4. Concrete floor inside the home so dirty that one hour of walking barefoot resulted black soles.

6. Studio fridge had mold. Had to clean but still didn't feel comfortable using.

7. We had kids on our trip. And yes they can be naughty (age 3-7), climb things like the couch they should not have, but were redirected when noted and never damaged anything on property.

And yet deposit held for dirt on couch, which likely came from existing dirty floors. If this happened with the kids, it should be easily wiped clean. Instead I was billed to REPLACE the whole couch.

8. The number of overnight guests was as agreed. We have family and friends who live nearby or were in town as well and they did come to visit eat or drink with us. We did not violate 15 person maximum that requires permit by the city at any one time.

9. Alleged "security" camera being used to "check up" on us. Never had neighbor complaints, police concerns, or us reach out to owner to warrant even using it. Security cameras for burglary etc warranted but not to watch renters. And yet, per voice messages and verbal and written complaints, she was watching us. I am emotionally disturbed about this.

Owner's Response: Please refer to my multiple 5 star reviews. This review is inaccurate. After arriving, she emailed “We are doing great! Love the place!” The guest was a nightmare. She brought 8 additional people to the premises, held loud parties, destroyed linens and furniture, set off our noise monitoring system 30+ times and left house unlocked at checkout. We do have an outside camera and disclose this on the listing, the rental agreement and a sticker on front door. There are no cameras inside. We make an effort to be responsible hosts and good neighbors. Cities are passing laws to ban short-term rentals. Opponents tell stories of vacationers throwing parties and being loud. We try to ensure that our guests do not exceed the number that can sleep in house and screen before booking for people who wish to invite extra guests. Thank goodness most people are so respectful and have a great time. All my other fantastic reviews speak for themselves. -Kathryn

This property was exactly as described and then some! Beautifully appointed, perfect Location and the view was spectacular! My next trip to Malibu will include a stay in the Octagon house. We really did see dolphins in the morning. It was surreal.
