Whether you love sunning and swimming at the beach or fishing and boating on the bay you'll find the best of both worlds in Cape San Blas. The beach has been voted number one beach in America numerous times and St. Joseph's Bay is know to be one of the top fishing destinations as well. Our house, Sundance Cottage, happens to be right in the middle of both.
Nestled in the sand dunes of Cape San Blas, it is about 250 yards to the deeded accesses of both the beach and the bay. Sunbathers will enjoy the outdoor shower and bathroom after a day on the beach and fishermen will find the fish cleaning station a handy addition after a successful day of fishing. With ample parking underneath the house there is plenty of room to bring your boat or waverunners which can be launched at St. Joseph's State Park, just 2/10 of a mile from the house.
With three bedrooms and three baths (one is outside but the shower and toilet are enclosed), the house will comfortably sleep six people. The master bedroom has a king-size bed, cable TV, private bath, and French doors which lead onto the back deck that overlooks the dunes. There are no other homes behind ours so it is very private on the back deck. The other two bedrooms each have queen-size beds and share the full bath conveniently located in the hall. One of the queen bedrooms has cable TV as well.
Everyone will enjoy watching the 36' TV in the large, comfortable sofas and chairs. You may choose from our selection of movies or bring your favorite VHS tapes, DVD's and CD's to enjoy the entertainment center complete with cable TV, VCR, DVD, and CD player. Bring you laptop and get online with our broadband, wireless, high speed internet connection.
Since Cape San Blas is not known for restaurants and night life we keep the kitchen well stocked with plenty of cookware and utensils and the pantry stocked with spices and staples so you'll be able to cook your fresh catch of the day on the large stainless steel grill on the deck. There is also plenty of deck furniture for outdoor dining as well.
So if you're looking for a place that's somewhat off the beaten path you have found it here. Uncrowded beaches, endless shelling, fantastic fishing, or just boating around the bay are just a few of the things to do. Rent a bike and ride for miles, rent a kayak and ride the waves, or just enjoy the beautiful, serene enviornment with your friends and family. Cape San Blas is not just the 'forgotten coast'...it is also an undiscovered Paradise.

My husband and I share ownership of this home with his brother and wife. We all own and run a manufacturing business in Northeast Alabama including scaffold manufacturing as well as attachments for skid steers and excavators. In addition to using the home ourselves we allow our employees to vacation there and sometimes entertain customers there.
Karen Jones purchased this cottage in 2005
We first visited the area several years ago and absolutely fell in love with it. We've always vacationed in the panhandle...mostly Destin and it reminds us of what Destin used to be like when we were kids. We like the laid back atmosphere, uncrowded beaches, excellent fishing and peace and quiet.
Our home is only 2/10 of a mile from the entrance to St. Joseph's Peninsula State Park so if you bring a boat you are very close to the boat launch there. Additionally we have an excellent deeded beach access with only private homes there so the beach is never crowded. Our deeded bay access is great for fishing the grass flats for speckled trout and redfish as well as launching a kayak or canoe. Our neighborhood, Peninsula Estates, is very peaceful and quiet so most times you can still hear the surf from our outside decks.
This is a great house with plenty of space in a beautiful location. Our family really enjoyed the house, the easy access to both the bay and the ocean, and the close proximity to St. Joseph State Park. The house is spacious, well-appointed, and has everything you need or would want. This really is a beautiful and unspoiled part of Florida, and this house is perfect for a family, couple, or some friends who are interested in exploring this area. We especially enjoyed St. Joseph State Park, the entrance to which is only about a quarter mile away from the house. The park includes some great trails for hiking along both the gulf and bay sides of the Cape and is really spectacular. The house is a great value and we really enjoyed our stay there. We would love to come back for another visit sometime, and maybe do a little fishing and kayaking in the bay.
Four adults stayed in this house four 6 nights. Myself, my spouse, my elderly mother and my sister. We all were so comfortable every single moment. We three woman were astonished how a big house could be so immaculately clean in every spot in the house. The decor was great. Supplies such as linen, towels, seasoning, cookware, tupperware and much more was bountiful! This house is wonderful! I will definitely book this house again. I spoke to the owners before our trip and the day we were checking out, they were very easy to contact and very kind. we are all still amazed how clean and comfy this house is. We were sad to check out. The beach was dreamy. The sunsets every night were gorgeous! Having our coffee on the deck in the am was awesome. Just wonderful!
My friend and I brought our kayaks down to fish the area. This has to be the most kayak conducive area I have ever been to. many places to launch from, good bait stores with people willing to help, and LOTS OF FISH. We caught more than enough trout, reds, flounder, and pompano to keep us fed plus some for the freezer. Even had a battle with a cobia in St Joe Bay but lost it at the boat. I absolutely loved being here. The owner is great to work with and keeps it all quite simple. If I decide to come back to fish again, I will certainly try to book this house. GREAT WEEK!!!!!
My boyfriend and I rented this house for a quick weekend getaway with out the kids and we loved it! The home is very spacious, probably too big for just the two of us, but still has a quaint comfortable feel to it. We love the Cape and have rented other homes before, and this is by far our favorite place! We definitely plan to rent again with our kids. Our only negative is that we only had the weekend and not a full week!
Stayed here the week that scallop season started. Great location close to the state park boat ramp. Surf fished on the ocean side in the evening while the rest of the family enjoyed swimming and watching the sun set. The fish cleaning station was perfect for the fisherman. Under the house is all concrete and made a great place to wash down the boats at the end of the day. The house was very comfortable for 6 adults, and was very clean. The owners have thought of everything you need from condiments to storage containers for the leftovers. The house is situated so you can sit on the front deck in the evening and be in the shade and catch the breeze. I would recommend this house to all my friends, and will surely stay here again when visting Cape San Blas.
We stayed at Sundance for 2 weeks. It was an excellent choice for us. Very nicely decorated. Beds comfortable. There was a nice selection of movies and books at the house. The kitchen had a cabinet full of spices and condiments that one normally has to buy when renting if you want those items. We used the front deck primarily, but the back deck is quite nice and very private. We loved the Trading Post on the Cape, and Coneheads for dining. We were looking at houses to buy in the area all the way from Mexico Beach to Alligator Point, and this was a great spot for us, and so relaxing to come home to each evening. Karen was the best, she responded quickly to each and every inquiry from me and was very helpful. I would definitely recommend this rental to anyone.
St. Joseph's Peninsula State Park is just around the corner from our house. They have a boat ramp and dock for day docking plus large area on the bay for fishing from the land or wading the grass beds. If you love raw oysters you must visit the Indian Pass Raw Bar which is about a 10 minute drive from the house. Another good place for oysters and seafood is Triple Tails which you pass on the way to our house.
