Description

Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday cottage in Port Saint Joe - Sundance Cottage

Cottage, w3 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

Whether you love sunning and swimming at the beach or fishing and boating on the bay you'll find the best of both worlds in Cape San Blas. The beach has been voted number one beach in America numerous times and St. Joseph's Bay is know to be one of the top fishing destinations as well. Our house, Sundance Cottage, happens to be right in the middle of both.

Nestled in the sand dunes of Cape San Blas, it is about 250 yards to the deeded accesses of both the beach and the bay. Sunbathers will enjoy the outdoor shower and bathroom after a day on the beach and fishermen will find the fish cleaning station a handy addition after a successful day of fishing. With ample parking underneath the house there is plenty of room to bring your boat or waverunners which can be launched at St. Joseph's State Park, just 2/10 of a mile from the house.

With three bedrooms and three baths (one is outside but the shower and toilet are enclosed), the house will comfortably sleep six people. The master bedroom has a king-size bed, cable TV, private bath, and French doors which lead onto the back deck that overlooks the dunes. There are no other homes behind ours so it is very private on the back deck. The other two bedrooms each have queen-size beds and share the full bath conveniently located in the hall. One of the queen bedrooms has cable TV as well.

Everyone will enjoy watching the 36' TV in the large, comfortable sofas and chairs. You may choose from our selection of movies or bring your favorite VHS tapes, DVD's and CD's to enjoy the entertainment center complete with cable TV, VCR, DVD, and CD player. Bring you laptop and get online with our broadband, wireless, high speed internet connection.

Since Cape San Blas is not known for restaurants and night life we keep the kitchen well stocked with plenty of cookware and utensils and the pantry stocked with spices and staples so you'll be able to cook your fresh catch of the day on the large stainless steel grill on the deck. There is also plenty of deck furniture for outdoor dining as well.

So if you're looking for a place that's somewhat off the beaten path you have found it here. Uncrowded beaches, endless shelling, fantastic fishing, or just boating around the bay are just a few of the things to do. Rent a bike and ride for miles, rent a kayak and ride the waves, or just enjoy the beautiful, serene enviornment with your friends and family. Cape San Blas is not just the 'forgotten coast'...it is also an undiscovered Paradise.

About Karen Jones

My husband and I share ownership of this home with his brother and wife. We all own and run a manufacturing business in Northeast Alabama including scaffold manufacturing as well as attachments for skid steers and excavators. In addition to using the home ourselves we allow our employees to vacation there and sometimes entertain customers there.

Karen Jones purchased this cottage in 2005

Why Karen Jones chose North West Florida

We first visited the area several years ago and absolutely fell in love with it. We've always vacationed in the panhandle...mostly Destin and it reminds us of what Destin used to be like when we were kids. We like the laid back atmosphere, uncrowded beaches, excellent fishing and peace and quiet.

What makes this cottage unique

Our home is only 2/10 of a mile from the entrance to St. Joseph's Peninsula State Park so if you bring a boat you are very close to the boat launch there. Additionally we have an excellent deeded beach access with only private homes there so the beach is never crowded. Our deeded bay access is great for fishing the grass flats for speckled trout and redfish as well as launching a kayak or canoe. Our neighborhood, Peninsula Estates, is very peaceful and quiet so most times you can still hear the surf from our outside decks.

A very happy, satisfied renter

  • 5 of 5

Four adults stayed in this house four 6 nights. Myself, my spouse, my elderly mother and my sister. We all were so comfortable every single moment. We three woman were astonished how a big house could be so immaculately clean in every spot in the house. The decor was great. Supplies such as linen, towels, seasoning, cookware, tupperware and much more was bountiful! This house is wonderful! I will definitely book this house again. I spoke to the owners before our trip and the day we were checking out, they were very easy to contact and very kind. we are all still amazed how clean and comfy this house is. We were sad to check out. The beach was dreamy. The sunsets every night were gorgeous! Having our coffee on the deck in the am was awesome. Just wonderful!

Owner's Response: It's so nice of Coleen to take the time to let me know how much she and her family enjoyed their stay. Not only does it benefit me in knowing that we're stocking the house with the items that our guests need and enjoy but also that our cleaning staff is handling things well on their end too making sure everything is clean and welcoming to our guests. Additionally it's a tremendous help for you, the potential renter, when you are looking for a place to spend your vacation. It certainly takes a lot of the guesswork out of your decision and shows you as well how helpful the reviews can be to the process of locating a good fit for your family.

Fishing Week

  • 5 of 5

My friend and I brought our kayaks down to fish the area. This has to be the most kayak conducive area I have ever been to. many places to launch from, good bait stores with people willing to help, and LOTS OF FISH. We caught more than enough trout, reds, flounder, and pompano to keep us fed plus some for the freezer. Even had a battle with a cobia in St Joe Bay but lost it at the boat. I absolutely loved being here. The owner is great to work with and keeps it all quite simple. If I decide to come back to fish again, I will certainly try to book this house. GREAT WEEK!!!!!

Owner's Response: I'm so glad to hear you guys loved your trip as well as our house! Fishing in the pristine St Joe Bay should definitely be on the "bucket list" of anyone who loves fishing...especially kayak fishing! Some of our "regulars" that return year after year come from as far away as Colorado just to fish here! We try to accommodate our anglers with plenty of room to park a boat as well as a handy screened in fish cleaning station to prepare their fresh catch. We also have a deeded bay access perfect for launching a kayak and of course a deeded beach access for those who like to surf fish or simply relax on the beach. Thank you Mike for sharing your experience! We hope to have you back again soon!

The Perfect Beach House

  • 5 of 5

My boyfriend and I rented this house for a quick weekend getaway with out the kids and we loved it! The home is very spacious, probably too big for just the two of us, but still has a quaint comfortable feel to it. We love the Cape and have rented other homes before, and this is by far our favorite place! We definitely plan to rent again with our kids. Our only negative is that we only had the weekend and not a full week!

Great place

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here the week that scallop season started. Great location close to the state park boat ramp. Surf fished on the ocean side in the evening while the rest of the family enjoyed swimming and watching the sun set. The fish cleaning station was perfect for the fisherman. Under the house is all concrete and made a great place to wash down the boats at the end of the day. The house was very comfortable for 6 adults, and was very clean. The owners have thought of everything you need from condiments to storage containers for the leftovers. The house is situated so you can sit on the front deck in the evening and be in the shade and catch the breeze. I would recommend this house to all my friends, and will surely stay here again when visting Cape San Blas.

Owner's Response: We sincerely appreciate our guests taking the time to post a review on our home. It lets us know we're getting it right😀 But more than that we're just happy to know they truly enjoyed it and want to return. Our location right next to the state park makes it perfect for boaters and the screened in fish cleaning station is a plus for fishermen. Our wide concrete driveway is perfect for washing down your boat too!

Excellent choice

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Sundance for 2 weeks. It was an excellent choice for us. Very nicely decorated. Beds comfortable. There was a nice selection of movies and books at the house. The kitchen had a cabinet full of spices and condiments that one normally has to buy when renting if you want those items. We used the front deck primarily, but the back deck is quite nice and very private. We loved the Trading Post on the Cape, and Coneheads for dining. We were looking at houses to buy in the area all the way from Mexico Beach to Alligator Point, and this was a great spot for us, and so relaxing to come home to each evening. Karen was the best, she responded quickly to each and every inquiry from me and was very helpful. I would definitely recommend this rental to anyone.

Owner's Response: We do like to keep our kitchen stocked with some basics so that our guests don't have to purchase every little thing when cooking a meal. It's a courtesy we enjoyed years ago when we rented a place on a ski trip so when we began renting a home ourselves this is the approach we've taken. Even though it's not required some guests will purchase another container of whatever they finished so it works out well.

An absolutely marvelous house! My husband and I stayed for a week and had a grand time. Close enough to enjoy our family members in St. Joe and visit the State Park. The nicest home we have rented in the area and I have been going for the last fifty Years!

Thank you for the use of your home.

Owner's Response: It's very rewarding as an owner when a guest is so genuinely happy with our home. We try very hard to make our house a temporary home for our guests so reading an awesome review such as this lets us know we are doing things right!

St. Joseph's Peninsula State Park is just around the corner from our house. They have a boat ramp and dock for day docking plus large area on the bay for fishing from the land or wading the grass beds. If you love raw oysters you must visit the Indian Pass Raw Bar which is about a 10 minute drive from the house. Another good place for oysters and seafood is Triple Tails which you pass on the way to our house.
