Beautiful, spacious, comfortable and well located!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at this home. The house was nicely appointed and comfortable. Everything was well maintained. It was wonderful to come home after a day on the beach and grill out on the bbq provided and relax on the porch. In the evenings after dinner, there were many places to go have fun! Some nights we went for ice cream, or we played put-put by the water, or explored the many parks of Port Charlotte. There are many little coves/pocket parks around Port Charlotte to explore, walk, and enjoy the sunsets while taking in the water views and palm trees. The owner, Debbie, checked in on us via text, and made sure we were happy. She was very accommodating and flexible. She gets an A+. Thank you for making our stay so wonderful, Debbie. We made lifetime memories here and hope to be back next year!

THINGS TO DO: We were able to explore so many beaches! We tried Englewood, Venice and Fort Myers beaches. We loved Englewood for the shark's teeth and Venice for the biking trails and Fort Myers for the super soft sand! We also went to the Everglades one day and explored Shark Valley. We have never seen so much wildlife in one place in its natural habitat!!! We saw many, many gators, herons, pelicans, turtles, fish, etc. It took a 2 hour drive to reach the Everglades park but it was really worth it for a fun day trip. We recommend biking the trail at Shark Valley and bringing lots of water. If you are not inclined to bike, they do a leisurely 2 hour tram tour.

Owner's Response: I am so glad that you had a great time. There really is so much to do in the different communities here. Thank you for going out and exploring them. This is why we own here in Port Charlotte we are centrally located to so many things North and South of us. We would love to have you come back and visit again.

A Perfect Stay !

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was great ! Very clean, neat and extremely livable. Everything that one needs is right there; and the proximity to activities/restaurants/all the action in Port Charlotte is close by - while still being off the beaten path. There were no neighborhood problems, it is not a glamorous neighborhood by upscale standards - but all was quiet and relaxed. The owners are great, never intrusive but more than willing to check in and see how things are going. Highly recommend if you are on a budget and do not have to be out on the water in the higher cost neighborhood. The cottage is great for the price !

Property very well located In Port Charlotte

  • 5 of 5

The home is very well kept, clean, and the furnishings are great! Kitchen is the best stocked we have ever had!!!! Debbie was quick to respond to all questions and the one problem was fixed very promptly. Our family of three fit very well into the house and we really enjoyed our winter vacation. Neighborhood was quiet and centrally located. Hope to be able to book with you again, Debbie. We would certainly stay again. Thanks.

Comfortable well maintained home in a quiet neighborhood.

  • 3 of 5

This home is in excellent condition inside and out and well furnished. The kitchen has appliances that are what is needed to cook all your meals and enough dishes that you don't have to run the dishwasher after every meal. We bike a lot and loved that we could just bike down the very low traffic street to many different areas of Port Charlotte including parks, shopping and restaurants. We also loved that people controlled their dogs and the kids were very well behaved. Port Charlotte picked up any garbage or discards left out so people tended to leave piles of discarded furniture on the curb any day of the week. It was picked up on Thursday so wasn't a health concern, just an eyesore. The owner's customer service was excellent, we only had one small problem and it was fixed right away. We would recommend this home for families with children or without.

Owner's Response: On the garbage pick up just to let everyone know, trash pick up is included in Port Charlotte's Real estate taxes. So property owners can put out big items for bulk pickup and Waste Management will pick it up on our scheduled day.

Not a vacation destination

  • 1 of 5

Owners are responsive and seem nice. House is adequate and decorated nicely. The problem is the location of the home. It is located in a low income, mixed neighborhood of primarily ill maintained rental properties. We had to endure loud profanity filled family disputes several nights and during our five week stay there were police responding to calls on the street on four occasions. On two of those occasions once was across the street and was some type of child custody issue and the second five police cars pulled in front of the home and went across the street and removed a man in handcuffs. If I was able to afford it I would have left before the first week was up. You are unable to sit out in the yard unless you enjoy looking at unsightly yards and you can't use the little sunroom as it is ten feet from the neighbors car port which gives you the view of garbage cans and other trash lying around. I'm sure the owners will dispute my review, but the fact that they have had to install a security system and find it necessary to chain their inexpensive BBQ grills and bottle to a tree says a lot. We did not feel safe staying at this home. Bottom line is if none of this bothers you go ahead and stay here. We will not be back nor would we recommend the property. This is not a place you want to pay to vacation.

Owner's Response: I am very sorry to hear that you experienced problems in the subdivision of my rental property. All my other reviews have been 5 star ratings and the guests have thoroughly enjoyed their stay at my cottage and did not have issues with the neighborhood. If you look up the subdivision, you can see that it is a thriving area market wise and a lot of buying and selling is going on right now. Unfortunately you were there at a heated time, it was in fact a child custody dispute and there was an arrest. I cannot control other people’s behavior or predict what might happen in the subdivision this could happen any where. I can only control my property on how it looks and what it has to offer you inside and in the yard. In reference to the sun room being too close to the neighbor’s house, that issue has been taken care of. We have planted many tropical plants on the boundary line of the two properties and have established more privacy while guest are sitting out there so they can enjoy themselves in that room. We also added bamboo blinds for added privacy. Pictures are added to see the view. We have purchased a new gas grill and a storage container for the grill and propane tank. The issue about the security system is not because of the neighborhood, it is due to a preference to have a security system in my homes, which includes my personal home. This allows my cottage to be monitored and registered with the police and fire department in the event of any emergency. Again, I’m truly sorry about the problems you experienced at our cottage with the neighbor across the street.
