Beautiful Cozy 2-Bedroom Cottage

This diamond in the rough is a cozy 2 bedroom cottage perfect for a weekend getaway, family vacation or a romantic retreat. This great escape will provide you with a little piece of paradise while giving you the feeling and comfort of home! And because pets are family too, we welcome them; but must be cleared with the owners first. No cats please, as the owners are allergic.

This adorable cottage is nestled on a quiet residential street behind the main home. Water, pier and boat slip access are only steps away by walking down the lighted path on the side of the main home where you can enjoy breathtaking sunsets, fishing, swimming, canoeing, boating; and in winter snowmobiling, ice fishing and skiing at Wilmot Mountain Ski Resort. A boat slip to dock your boat and 3-person canoe are available at no extra charge your use. The cottage is fully air conditioned and heated with ceiling fans in bedrooms, kitchen and living room; making it perfect for year-round suitability.

When staying in this home away from home, you can start off your morning soaking up a little fresh air out on the front porch enjoying a cup of freshly brewed Starbucks Verona coffee. After an eventful day exploring all the Chain of Lakes has to offer, both bedrooms have queen size beds with 600 thread count linens and overstuffed pillows for your sleeping comfort. For those less than stellar weather days, cozy on the oversized leather sofa or kick up your feet on the reclining chair in the living room where you can also partake in some viewing enjoyment on the 40” LED television equipped with Direct TV & HBO, or enjoy your favorite DVD by popping it into the DVD player. Feeling a little competitive? Stroll on over the utility closet where you can find several different board and card games to partake in. Secured WiFi internet access is also available. A little hungry? Quickly whip something up on the gas stove in the kitchen that is furnished with all appliances, utensils and dinnerware for your convenience, including an expandable kitchen island. Want make it a BBQ instead? Head outside to your own private patio to access the gas grill.

Your home away from home oasis is:

30 minutes to Six Flags Great America Amusement Park, where you can also make a stop into Gurnee Mall for some shopping

Walking distance to El Puerto restaurant for an awesome Margarita

A Thursday night away from watching some thrilling drag boat racing at Blarney’s Island

A Sunday morning away from having a “meal in a glass” Bloody Mary at Route 12 Bar and Grill

About Rosemarie Nilson

A love of boating, fishing and the outdoors has been embedded in us from our youth. Thus, when we started to think of places to retire - we opted to live where we had many happy memories, where people are friendly and life is exciting and fun -- the Chain O’Lakes. We feel truly blessed to be able to live in a vibrant and historic community and most importantly, to be close to those that matter most – our family and friends.

Rosemarie Nilson purchased this cottage in 2014

Great location in Quiet Fox Lake

  • 5 of 5

Jim and Rose were fantastic hosts, very punctual and friendly. The cottage has everything you need, and it is right next to the water on Fox Lake. We would love to come back again.

Cute, clean, comfy cottage

  • 5 of 5

The place was up to date, included a lot of amenities, and was very welcoming. The renters were flexible and provided several nice suggestions. The place is 30-45 second walk from the lake, where the owners welcomed us to hang by the lake. I can't think of anything else I could have asked for: I highly recommend!! Thanks for Having us.

Perfect location, great accommodation, welcoming owners!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at this property, and we have every intention of coming back many more times. The cottage is well maintained and and the owners are on-site and willing to answer questions or to give advise on where to go, things to do. There is a marina near by to launch a boat and dock space is provided with the cottage rental.

Well-equipped, comfortable

  • 4 of 5

We were there on the hottest days of the summer, and the cottage was a nice retreat. It was cool and cozy. The kitchen is very well-equipped for cooking, the beds are comfortable and the outdoor space is nice although you do have to walk through the parking lot and around the host home to get to the lake. The lake view is nice and would be a comfortable place to spend watching the sun set, although we didn't do so because it was so hot. The host is very responsive to requests. We locked ourselves from the cabin (when leaving, do NOT lock the lower lock!) but gained entrance within 10 minutes. The grill was dirty when we arrived but the host cleaned it nicely for us. We enjoyed our stay!

Owner's Response: Hi Cindy, so glad you enjoyed your stay even though the heat index was over 100. Being outside all day in the extreme heat at the golf tournament would want me to retreat to the air conditioning too! We have switched out the bottom lock so that there are no issues in the future. I deeply apologize for the oversight on the grill, no excuse - but as you mentioned, we did clean it immediately after you brought it to our attention. It was a pleasure having you and your guests! We wish you and your guests the best & hope to see you again next year.!

Great place to relax for a long weekend

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our visit very much. The cottage was well-stocked with everything we needed to cook indoors and out. Though the lake view isn't directly outside the cottage, it is indeed just steps away in Rosemarie and Jim's yard, and they gave us all the space in the world so it never felt at all weird. The cottage is a very short drive to a state park, several nature preserves, and more. We loved sitting on the lake in the evenings and drinking wine and watching the majestic blue herons.

Owner's Response: We are so happy that you enjoyed your visit. I agree that the blue Herons are amazing. So glad that you were able to check out the State Park. It is a wonderful place for hiking and horseback riding. You will have to come back in the spring when the Pelicans migrate up to Fox Lake. We wish you the very best! Thank you!!
