My husband and I are British and live in England. I am a lawyer and my husband works in the automotive industry. We live in a small village in an area of outstanding natural beauty known as 'the Cotswolds'. We live an outdoor life and have three horses, a dog and two chickens.
Helen Kenyon purchased this chalet in 2009
I first came to KHMR in 2003 and it was love at first sight. That feeling led me to purchase a plot and build our dream home. We truly believe that KHMR is one of the best, if not the best, ski hills in the world and we are delighted to welcome you into our home and share it with you.
KHMR combines superb snow, world class skiing and stunning scenery. It is a heady cocktail that draws lovers of the mountains and the outdoors to it time and time again whatever the season.
We vacationed for one week at the Kicking Horse Mountain Resort home with a group of 8 friends. It was a perfect place to stay for exploring Golden, Banff, Revelstoke, and other surrounding areas. Although it is a little bit of a drive from the parks, we enjoyed being away from the crowds, and we also had a fun time exploring the restaurants and sights in Golden. On our last evening in town we ate at a fantastic restaurant very close by in Golden called The Whitetooth Mountain Bistro. We loved everything we had as did our friends. We would highly recommend this restaurant!
The house was immaculate. We loved everything about it! The kitchen was fully stocked so we were able to cook and bake meals for our group. There were plenty of towels and linens for use the entire week, including extra towels for the hot tub. There was fire wood all cut so we could make fires every evening. The bedrooms and bathrooms were very clean and comfortable and exactly as described on the website. There were even several puzzles in the house and we enjoyed working on those every evening.
The owner of this property was very easy to communicate with and there were easy directions for using the appliances, the locks, etc. I would highly recommend this property to anyone. It is a great retreat for families or groups of friends.
Our group of nine friends rented this home to explore the Canadian National Parks and do some hiking. We took turns cooking and all found the kitchen wonderfully appointed - plenty of bowls, cookware for a group, and knives! Many of us enjoyed the hot tub at the end of a long day of hiking and we were all able to be ready on time in the morning due to the four bathrooms. The owner was responsive throughout the entire process and we felt she made the extra effort to make sure everything was perfect for our stay.
We had a great time staying here. The house had everything you could want. KHMR and Golden are great summer resorts.
Recently Stayed at this property with 8 other house guests for a wedding at Eagle Eye. This home was great to house a large group with lots of space and social areas for visiting. Lots of bathrooms for everyone which is a plus. Large entry way to make it easy to get all your gear/luggage in. Allowing enough room for everyone to have their own space. The Beds were comfortable, clean and easily accommodating to any group size. Lots of kitchen space for cooking and storing food. We had no issues with the ice machine as some previous guests noted. Ample parking space for multiple vehicle. Pretty much any kitchen appliance or tool you require they have it. There are also lots of DVD's and games to entertain you. The out door space is nice and still pretty private. The hot tub is excellent and was a perfect way to end the evening. The BBQ was not very clean when we arrived to use it so maybe just make note of that prior to your stay. Other wise we all very much enjoyed our stay and it was so close to the main resort I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to stay there. The Owner of the property was great to deal with, was very prompt with responding to questions/emails and the rules and regulations are very reasonable. We will be back for sure! Thanks again!
Rented this property with extended family and it was perfectly set up to accommodate us all (7 adults and 3 kids). There was more than enough space for everyone and every family got their own bathroom. The house was fully stocked and had everything you could possibly need. We enjoyed using the hot tub and fire place in the evenings after long days of sightseeing. Communication with Helen was easy, her responses where clear and timely. We stayed in the summer so didn't get to take advantage of the ski hill but used this house as home base to visit near by tourist attractions. We also enjoyed evening walks through the neighborhood.
'Grizzly Bear Refuge: The refuge offers interpretive tours throughout the summer season to learn more about Boo the resident orphaned grizzly. Visitors are welcome to stay as long as they wish to watch and photograph Boo as he forages, plays, explores, snoozes and sunbaths.'
'Northern Lights Wolf Centre: The centre promotes conservation of wolves and bears and provides informative and interactive education experiences that fascinate and enthral adults and children alike. The centre is open all year round.'
'Swiss Village: In 1899 Edward Feuz Sr. and Christian Haesler came to Canada from Switzerland to serve as mountain guides. In 1911 the CPR built homes for them named the area 'Swiss Village' or 'Edelweiss'. The village provides the base for the now famous Canadian Alpine Club and is situated 1.5 km west of Golden.'
'Heli Skiing and Cat Skiing: Bugaboos, the birthplace of heli skiing is our backyard. Average 10m of fantastic snowfall. 4 heli ski operators and 1 cat ski operat
