Located only steps away from the daily farmers' markets and the shops and restaurants of Aix-en-Provence, in the heart of the Historic Center and off of one of the most active and beautiful squares of Provence, this Town house apartment in a former mansion features Classic style of elegant French town living, absolute calm, unobstructed garden views and a generous and wonderful layout. A truly rare find in a medieval city where light, quiet and views are very difficult to come by! With southern and western exposures, over 12 foot high ceilings, original 'tomettes' or Provencal tiles, this completely renovated property will provide a sophisticated and elegant oasis from the active hustle and bustle of town. Enter the property off the square, through the landmarked door and immediately find yourself surrounded by the peace, coolness and calm of the gardens (an elevated portion of which is not accessible). Upon entering the former mansion, walk up the large stone staircase to the second floor and enter the apartment. You will find yourself in the dining area, with an open kitchen featuring dishwasher, four burner induction cook top, oven, refrigerator and freezer, microwave, new utensils and top-grade cookware. The kitchen is fully equipped (toaster, coffee maker, etc.) and if you have special needs for baking, etc., please let me know!

To the left of the dining room is the living room, featuring its high ceiling and Art Deco chandelier, garden views, decorative fireplace, fully equipped entertainment center, a mix of antique and art-deco furnishings and off to the side, a bathroom, with a toilet, sink and shower. The living room has a door and can be closed off to give privacy to anyone enjoying a siesta on the sofa. To the right of the dining room, is the bedroom, with its high ceiling, authentic Art Deco chandelier, antique furniture and artwork from the region. The bed is a custom designed hand forged iron creation by a local artist and hosts a queen size mattress and box spring, fine quality linens from the US, down comforter and pillows. In front of the bed is a hand forged iron bench to sit and read from while looking out onto the surrounding gardens. Off to the side of the bedroom is the attached 'retro-style' master bathroom with marble floor, tiled shower, toilet and pedestal sink featuring amenities such as towels, hairdryer and towel racks.

The property evokes the feeling of Grand French town living and features the very best of antique French and Provencal decor along with all the amenities for a comfortable stay - whether you stay for a long or short visit.

This property is not handicap accessible.

Pay, secure parking is literally only steps away - though a car is not needed for a stay in Aix-en-Provence! The town is mostly pedestrian and the infrastructure for visiting the surrounding areas is excellent.

The property is also located only steps away from the world renowned Spa located on the site of the ancient Roman Thermal Baths.

Aix Cigales is like stepping into a dream!

Aix Cigales sincerely exceeded my expectations as a home away from home while visiting the South of France for the first time. I could not have stayed in a more lovely abode than this eloquent compliment to the truly quintessential provencal landscape of Aix en Provence. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed and shown around this sweet and charming place. The path leading up to the front door was nothing short of magical, lined with lush green and a small table for two; we found our way inside and upstairs. The apartment has obviously been loved and all details seemed to be placed with great care and thoughtfulness. A laundry rack to dry delicates, a basket to take to the market to gather fresh foods for the day, and umbrellas by the door made us feel instantaneously comfortable as well as cared for. The rooms were clean and neatly furnished, the kitchen cabinets well stocked...and the windows! So much light and fresh air - I loved waking each morning and looking outside. Throughout our time at Aix Cigales, Holly made herself available to us always without being imposing in any way. She checked in on us midweek via email message, to see how we were doing and to inquire as to whether we needed anything or had any questions during our stay (although we honestly did not, given that everything seemed so perfectly prepared for our arrival). I appreciated her attentiveness and care. If ever I were to be blessed with the opportunity to return to Aix en Provence, I would without a doubt wish to also return to Aix Cigales. Beautiful apartment!

This was probably one of the nicest places we have ever rented while traveling. Holly and John met us when we arrived and were very helpful . The apartment is bright, spacious and very comfortable. Location could not be better! It s set back with a courtyard in front so that the noise from the street is muted. the apartment was well equipped to cooking meals in and restaurants were literally a stones throw away from the front step! Holly was very receptive to any questions that we had about the area and she really was a terrific host. Aix is a great base to travel from and an interesting city to explore. Thank you Holly and John for all your help! We will not hesitate to recommend this apartment to our friends!

Beautiful apartment!

We just loved our stay in Aix and this beautiful apartment was a large part of it. It is centrally located but being set back through a small garden from the often very busy Forum Des Cardeurs noise was not an issue. The apartment is tastefully decorated and very well equipped. It also has lovely "Provençal" views from each of its windows. Holly has obviously put a lot of thought into creating a stylish yet comfortable place to stay. Daily food and flower markers are just a minutes away as are most of the sights and best restaurants of Aix. I highly recommend this apartment and hope to be back soon myself!

The apartment was lovely and spacious. Had everything we needed and was in a great location.

We had a good experience overall. Selection was in part because the homeowner is English, but she was unfortunately out of town. Difficulty navigating the parking and it was expensive. Interim house manager helpful, but not knowledgeable about parking. Otherwise, everything was great. Highly recommend to others looking for a place in center city. Loved having restAurants right outside our door.

Yes, parking can be a challenge in Aix, though there are multiple underground garages that rim the town and are all less than a 10 minute walk away from the property. Please consider a return visit, and enjoy the 'Pedestrians Only' winding streets of this gorgeous town.

This one bedroom apartment has two bathrooms and a beautifully equipped kitchen. Great location at Place des Cardeurs near Many restaurants and outdoor cafes. Highly recommend it.

Aix-en-Provence offers world class music and entertainment with its yearly international festivals and provides a picturesque and easy-to-navigate town from which to explore the region. From Aix-en-Provence you can easily visit the cities along the Cote d'Azure (Nice, Cannes, Marseille) the towns of Arles and Avignon and the small Provencal villages in the Luberon. Many guests have commented on loving the access to all the sites in Provence, but loving more so the return to the picture postcard town of Aix. The city center is mostly 'pedestrian only', is entirely walk able and offers every service imaginable, including English language movie theatres. Pay parking is available steps away from the apartment. for those wishing to rent a car.
