Perfect for 1 or 2 people.

Ideal temperature, 75 to 85 F year round.

After 40 years in Hawaii, we decided we wanted a little (not a lot) change, so we found a peaceful property on a big lake, with temperatures even better than Hawaii, the living a little slower, and the people a little more open.
If you are looking for a place to relax and really get into nature, you will be very happy here. Toucans, parrots, etc fly across the back yard, monkeys are in the trees, 75 yards from the porch. If you are looking for a place to relax, it does not get any better than this.
Yet, if you want to turn it up, across the street is the marina and within an hour or two, you can be at Arenal Volcano, mineral hot spas, zip lining through tree tops, white water rafting, be at Coco Beach, the tourist and nightlife center, etc.
You can be as quiet and isolated or active as you choose to be. The octagon houses and cottages are unique and beautiful, the community is quiet and peaceful.
My boyfriend as I stayed in this cozy little house, the space was perfect for just us two. The view is incredible, the pictures don't do it justice. There's a town close by, lots of yummy food and if you drive around you'll see a lot of horses, cows, chickens, dogs & people selling fruits in the back of their trucks straight from the farms (so delicious)! It's a really beautiful location and very safe. Arenal and all the activities La Fortuna has to offer are just 1 1/2 away. I wouldn't hesitate to go back it was a great experience and I'll miss it, I highly suggest staying here.
We arrived as guests...departed as friends. The directions we received were clear and very easy to follow...always a plus when you are traveling in an unfamiliar country! We arrived two hours earlier than our scheduled check-in time, but were warmly greeted and welcomed by our host, Rand. The casita far exceeded our expectations in quality of craftsmanship and appointments. The room and spa-like bath were well cared for and meticulously clean. Sipping a fresh-brewed cup of Costa Rican coffee (our hosts thought of everything!) from our private deck overlooking the lush surroundings of the lake & volcano provided a peaceful start to the day. In the afternoon, we listened to the howler monkeys, played music on the deck, and watched the resident toucans fly across the water. Rand & Barbara are the ultimate hosts. Because we are intrigued about living in this area, they graciously spent a large portion of the day sharing stories and information with us. There are a variety of activities within walking and driving distance of the property. We enjoyed a great dinner at nearby Macadamias. For breakfast, there were pastries from the German Bakery discovered on our excursion to Arenal. We had to return home long before we were ready, but the drive to the airport in Liberia was effortless on the new freeway out of Canas. When you visit, plan to stay and extra day...you'll be glad you did!
Everything was wonderful here! We just got back and can't wait to visit Costa Rica again. We will definitely consider staying at Rand's place again. The drive to Arenal is only an hour and a half away and a short 40 minute drive to Viento Fresco. Also, it is about an hour and a half from Rio Celeste, but we did not get the chance to visit that park.
Our home was well taken care of and had everything we needed. The view from this place is remarkable and the pictures don't do it justice. Although we didn't spend a lot of time in our room, it was exactly what we needed. We wanted to hit the road and explore as much as possible and this place gave us the opportunity to see Costa Rica for what this beautiful country really is, and also not be too far away from the adventurous excursions. If you're looking to see the real Costa Rica and stay at an affordable rate, then you can't go wrong with this place. The pool is awesome and the gated community really makes you feel privileged as well! Everyone is friendly and if you stay here check out this little restaurant called "Las Brisas" it was extremely delicious. We got the steak and shrimp and also the mozzarella chicken and mashed potatoes and rice. Also, don't forget about Macadamia Cafe! Amazing breakfast! And the Arenal Brewery is a really cool place that is only 10 minutes away.
All in all, definitely worth the stay, and when we visited another home on the 2nd half of our trip my fiance greatly missed this place compared to our second home that was more expensive than Rand's!
The property was clean and relaxing. Upon arrival we met the owner Rand. Rand gave us the grand tour and we talked for a few minutes about the area. This home is luxurious with the dual showerhead and jacuzzi tub. There was also a tv with some english channels. The best part of this location is the view. It was a little rainy during our stay, which created a breathtaking view of a magnificent rainbow over the lake. My girlfriend and I also loved talking with Rand, he gave us a lot of advice and inspiration for our return home. This location is located within 5 minutes of the brewery and 10 seconds from a hotel with delicious food. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone looking for a low priced, comfortable, and safe rental.
There aren't many places on Lake Arenal that have lake access. This is one of the few. It's a short walk down a quiet road to the lake front. Because of the rainy weather, we did not take advantage of the pool next door or swim in the lake. But the view from our room and the deck were great. Great place to view birds and howler monkeys.
Beautiful view , very quiet . Small kitchen but very efficient .
It was perfect we will be back to sail on the lake again and will rent there for sure .
Small inconvenient the ( casita) was not clean when we arrive at 8.00 pm but they send us to another one . We were happy the next day to have the casita ready and clean for us the view is the best and this unit is all equip for cooking . I do recommend it ! Can wait to be back !
San Luis is a small, quiet town with many restaurants and 2 mini marts. Puerto (port) San Luis (about 150 yards away) has a nice grassy park right up to the water. Tilaran (5 miles away) is the major town, with Restaurants, Banks, Supermarkets, Medical and Dental clinics, Pharmacies, etc. Monteverde Cloudforest preserve (approx 40 miles) has Canopy tours, zip lines, tours, etc. Arenal Volcano and hot springs are about 1 1/2 hours away. White water rafting and a big cat zoo/shelter is about 45 minutes away. After a hard day, a professional masseuse can come to the casita and give you a massage for only $30 each.
