About this property

Unique villa, peaceful area, 1.600cc SUV and boat trips included in price

The Artemis Villa is in the location of Mylos in Irakleia, 150 meters above sea level, right at the natural heart of the Cyclades island group. From its three terraces and eleven perimetrical windows one can enjoy beautiful views of the islands of Milos, Kimolos, Sifnos, Antiparos, Paros, Tinos, Naxos, Donoussa, Schoinoussa, Koufonissi, Amorgos and, last but not least, Keros, the legendary birthplace of Early Cycladic civilisation.

The Artemis Villa is a 130-square-meter stone structure (230 sqm including the terraces). It's made of local rock following traditional bioclimatic architecture, so air conditioning is unnecessary -- in fact, even on the hottest nights, the sea breeze surrounding the area calls for a light blanket.

In this stone-made boat, wind and sea are the only sounds in one's ears, as it is located in a solitary spot reached by a rugged 1-km-long path inaccessible to regular motor vehicles (hence, an off-road, 5-seater, 1,600 cc car is included in the price).

In the Artemis Villa one can relax in complete privacy. Silence, the starshine and the remote dim lights in the surrounding islands combine to create the unique experience of seclusion at the heart of the Cyclades. There are no houses or shops that meet the eye, and this is why the villa is fully equipped and self-sufficient.

There will be no prying eyes while you walk nude among the cedar trees and the thyme plants. You are all alone. The quietness of the surroundings, the views, the Robinson Crusoe experience, combined with all modern comforts, the beaches and Irakleia's two villages just 2 km away, all this is the real luxury of a stay in the Artemis Villa.

The villa has three terraces, each with a different orientation, so that one can enjoy memorable moments not minding the winds (north, south or west) - one of them offers a beautiful view of the sunset behind Antiparos and Sifnos. The two main terraces are equipped with large dinner tables and eight deck chairs.

Thanks to the stone walls and the traditional joints, the inside of the house is always cool, at around 18 to 20 degrees centigrade. One can use the breeze and the house windows as a natural AC, adjusting the temperature by up to 3 degrees.

The main house has a large living room (around 70 square metres) with book shelves, a traditional stone-made fireplace, hi-fi audio equipment, two sofas and a small writing desk. It offers everyone sea views wherever they sit.

Adjacent to the living room there is a large open kitchen with its own dining room, with all modern city-house appliances (refrigerator, stove, dish washer, coffee and espresso maker, toaster). The dining table can seat eight and they are all guaranteed a view of the sea and the neighbouring or more distant islands.

At the back, a small hallway leads to the two bedrooms and the bathroom. One bedroom faces Amorgos and the other Antiparos.

The "Amorgos" bedroom is suitable for hosting two children, adolescents or adults. It has a bed built against the wall with a new, top-quality mattress, a sofa-bed (2mX1.30m), a small desk, a book shelf and a large cupboard with all the necessary bed linen and towels for 3 guests.

The “Antiparos” bedroom has a built-in twin bed (2.10mX1.70m), a stone-made double cupboard, also fully equipped for two guests, and a window facing the glorious sunset.

Both bedrooms offer guests beautiful sea views even when they are resting in bed. Between the two rooms there is a large, traditionally built bathroom, a built-in shower and furniture, a washing machine and all necessary appliances.

The Artemis Villa is an austere, three-block structure, non-obtrusive and fully embedded in the harshness and tranquility of the genuine Cycladic landscape.

It invites people who will value this uniqueness. Ideal for writers, academics, journalists, anyone who wants to have a real holiday, not just change surroundings. It hosts two to four guests (arrangements can be made for more).

Pets welcome.

Included:
* A 1.600cc SUV
* Weekly cleaning service
* Three guided walks on Irakleia's beautiful paths
* A fishing trip by boat/week
* A boat trip around the island

A trip in time on an island to be discovered
It was a terrific experience, far beyond anything we could imagine when planning this trip in the first place, with my wife and two kids (9 and 5 yrs old)! It seems hard to describe the feeling of tranquillity and silence and, above all, the trip in time. We had a marvellous cruise on a traditional wooden boat around Irakleia with Antonis, and having Takis as personal guide felt like real time-travelling, as we realised how people, fishermen and sailors, lived on Irakleia 30 or 40 years ago. Not much have changed, actually... Enjoying the summer breeze in Kyclades and watching the sun, every evening on the stone-built patio, setting behind those wild rocks of Paros and Antiparos, being in a small, tiny island, surrounded by big Naxos or equally small Shinoussa and of course the Aegean blue, is really priceless. We enjoyed very much the tidy and beautiful house, with everything in its place. The car also helped a great deal, although distances are short. Mina, Takis and beloved Artemis, thanks for that precious days and nights. See you soon!
