About Linda Martenson

My husband and I live in California, but Maine is our summer home. I am a teacher in California, and we plan to one day retire in Maine. We currently have three properties in Maine, and The Doll House is our special, seasonal rental. We hope you'll love it as much as we do!

Linda Martenson purchased this house in 2013

Why Linda Martenson chose Boothbay Harbor Area

Aside from teaching, restoring homes and antiques is my passion. This home was purchased, renovated and decorated with loving care. It provides a special place for guests to unwind after sightseeing or as a home base for all the activities in the surrounding area. A large, private yard is perfect for a relaxing evening. Sit on the glassed-in porch with a cup of coffee or a glass of cool lemonade. Take a ride on the beach cruisers downtown and enjoy a picnic on the waterfront or a latte at Cafe Creme. A cottage is the perfect place to experience this picturesque New England town. If you dream of staying in a cottage like those you see in magazines, this is it!

What makes this house unique

This property has all the amenities of home and is within walking distance to walking trails, downtown shopping, restaurants and more. It is centrally located where guests can easily reach many darling mid-coast beach towns along the coast or on neighboring islands.

Good Times at the Doll House!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second time, as guests, at the Doll House and it was just as warm and welcoming as our first stay! The home is very comfortable and charming. The décor not only lends itself to a relaxing and restful visit but Linda and Carl provide all of the details and amenities to make your stay feel just like home. Three of our family members spent the weekend and they were delighted with the cozy and comfortable home. We love that Bath is a walkable city. We did dine out most evenings at local restaurants in Bath but the kitchen is well equipped to cook and enjoy meals at the home.

The Doll House is in a perfect location and only a short distance to other charming and quintessential Maine towns. Maine offers fun and enjoyable experiences for all ages because of its' beautiful parks, scenic beaches, excellent museums and quality restaurants.

We love the Doll House!

Thank you Linda and Carl for your warm hospitality. It is greatly appreciated. We look forward to our next stay at the Doll House.

Sweet Little House

  • 5 of 5

Hello Linda,

We loved our stay at the Doll House! Your attention to detail was evident in that everything we could have possibly needed was provided. We all agreed the house was very comfortable and clean. I know I will never forget our entering the house, turning the lights on, and finding a chocolate cake on the dining table! It just happened to be one of our friend's birthday so, the cake could not have been more perfect! The beds were comfy and with the cooler night temperatures, we just opened the bedroom windows a bit---no a/c or fans needed!

Mae's Café was in easy walking distance and we had a great breakfast there. The birthday girl was looking forward to a lobster dinner so, we asked a young man, John, who worked at Mae's, where he liked to go for lobster. He suggested --A Taste of Maine--across the bridge in Woolwich--maybe all of 4 miles from the Doll House. I watched my two friends devour 3 lobsters between them! We drove to Popham Beach one afternoon and spent 3 hours on a leisurely walk. It was always nice to come "home," have a cup of tea (and more cake!) and talk around the dining table or stretch out in the living room. The Doll House is a charming little house in a charming town and I hope to return sometime next year!

Very Comfortable and Convenient

  • 5 of 5

I recently stayed at the Doll House for the second time. It's a very comfortable and well-maintained house. Easily walkable to town, but far enough from the town to be quiet at night. During my stay, I brought my family to Old Orchard Beach, Portland, Popham Beach, Georgetown Island, Wiscasset, Brunswick, Camden, Rockport--all more or less within an hour's drive. And the house is well stocked, beds are very comfortable. Strongly recommended!

Clean and quaint

  • 4 of 5

Property worked out great for 5 of us adults. Grandpa had his own room downstairs close to the bathroom, and the rest were nestled upstairs. Everything very clean and organized. And perfect weather, so not hot without AC. Very comfy beds and quality linens. An extra 3rd room upstairs became the ladies vanity area! A full length mirror would have been nice somewhere in the house since we were in town for a wedding and everyone needed mirrors. And extension cords would have been handy since outlets were limited in this older style home - everyone needs to charge stuff by their beds! We cooked a little and kitchen was efficient. Plenty of hot water too. Wish we had more time to use the bikes! A great little place for sure.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review of your stay at the Doll House. We appreciate suggestions we can implement in order to improve everyone's experience. There were two extension cords in drawers, but I can understand the need for more. I will definitely take note of that, and add a full length mirror. We have had several wedding party guests, and that was never suggested...thank you! We are pleased you enjoyed your stay and that everyone found their comfortable niche within our vintage home. Best Family Vacation Ever!

  • 5 of 5

We totally enjoyed the Doll House. Very clean and decorated perfectly. The location was perfect for day trips and 1/2 day trips. I would highly recommend this location to anybody/family that wants to experience the coastal towns and beaches of Maine. Not a ton of activity in Bath, but you just cannot find a better location for exploring different beaches, and different towns. We never did the same thing twice, every day was a new experience. Best vacation ever!
