Wonderful Weekend on the River

  • 5 of 5

A large group of friends visited and we had an amazing time in your wonderful home. Plenty of space and beds for everyone in our party. The kitchen was well stocked with tools - yes you need to bring some of your own supplies as mentioned - but overall we had almost everything we needed to make some great meals. The location is serene - right on the river. A little disappointed we couldn't fish right off the back door...but we still enjoyed just sitting by watching the water flow by. Many great sites to see near and around the area and a great Thriftway store just minutes up the road with anything you could possible need. We had a great visit and will surely consider this property anytime we venture up to Mt. Hood.

Nice Location and pretty scenery

  • 2 of 5

This house is best suited for 8 adults at most, due to having exactly four bedrooms with very comfy queen beds. (Closets had no hangers, no bureaus in the rooms, so we had to live out of duffle bags for 5 days.) There were ten adults in our group so one couple slept on a futon in an open space with no doors or window treatments. The bunk beds in that space, facing the pool table, were too wobbly for uninterrupted sleep. The view of the river was enjoyable from inside, and there was a large wheelbarrel of firewood ready for us. We had imagined the 10 of us sitting by the river and around the fire pit, or eating dinner together on the deck, but there was only one square table with four metal chairs. We carried the chairs up and down the deck stairs, to sit by the river and fire pit. The house location is nice, with interesting walking trails for families, just a mile down the road. The kitchen and familiy room had a giant kitchen table which made for a nice gathering spot and family mealtimes. Nice washer and dryer available. Dishwasher did not clean so well and we found coffee mugs with dried debris and dishes that needed rewashing, in the cabinet. I would like to give a higher rating but the house was less than what we expected due to lack of attention to cleanliness and details like clothing storage areas, and the missing verticle blinds in spots on the sliding glass door windows facing each other on the deck, in both downstairs bedrooms, which affected privacy and sleep. When we arrived just before 4pm to check in, 2 people who were finishing cleaning said there were towels finishing up in the dryer. We folded 15 towels and put more in the dryer from the washer which wasn't a great way to begin a vacation. I hate to report this but there was a consistent unpleasant wafting of the septic system vent, periodically, as we sat outside day or night. Perhaps the septic needed emptying? All this said, we appreciated a relaxing trip: Highlights were Blue Sky rafting on the Clackamas River less than an hour away, the Fruit loop, Hood River and hiking the various falls along the Columbia River. The house was a great "home base" but might be best for winter ski vacations, not utilizing the outdoor deck, pit or hot tub so much.

Wonderful Stay

  • 5 of 5

Thank you for the use of your wonderful house. The setting was just perfect for our family. The house was clean and in good repair although the microwave button panel was quite loose and not all features worked but enough to get things heated. Comfortable beds. Great view of the river. Particularly enjoyed the hot tub, fire pit and gas grill. People should be aware that they need to bring things for the kitchen such as tin foil, plastic wrap, plastic storage containers and baggies plus most cooking staples if they think they might need them. We brought most of these things including roasting sticks. We would love to return and would highly recommend it to others.

Great time on the river

  • 5 of 5

It was a wonderful cabin !! We went up the week of my daughter 's wedding. The week was so relaxing being by the river. The house was arranged very nicely! The two master suites downstairs were very private and plenty of room upstairs! We definitely want to go back to this cabin !! It was very private !

Great larges rooms- incredible location!

  • 5 of 5

Four families (read: LOTS OF KIDS) rented the house for a weekend and it was PERFECT! The rooms were spacious. The location was INCREDIBLE. Bon fire RIGHT on the river and hot tub too (which we appreciated was clean and worked well). Although it's at the end of a tiny neighborhood street, we felt completely secluded and alone. The only minor downsides were the need for WAY more towels and pillowcases. I recommend bringing your own! The kitchen had useful items and everything was VERY clean. We drove up to Timberline lodge with 20-25 minutes and to a beautiful park within 5 minutes of the house. Ideal location in summer or winter. We talked about coming back to this house every year - claiming it as 'our spot'.
