Great Stay

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing and idyllic stay at this cabin! Everyone had a bed and was super cozy - which for a large group pf 13 can be difficult. The hot tub directly looks over the river which is gorgeous to wake up to and it snowed our second day at the cabin. Celeste made sure we extra comfortable, allowing us to arrive early (which was needed as this was a surprise birthday event and we needed to set up) and allowed up to stay late. We were 15-20 min drive to Mt. Hood brewery and xcountry ski trails. What a great weekend adventure - would HIGHLY recommend for anyone looking to have a peaceful group outing in the mountains.

Wonderful Stay!

  • 4 of 5

Great property for large and small parties. House had everything we needed. We liked that it is only 30 minutes to Skibowl. I even caught a steelhead in front of the house. March 4th.

Beautiful property and magnificent home

  • 5 of 5

My wife I and our 8 combined children found this home to be a treat. It was very enjoyable to witness the expressions of awe as they found all the rooms hot tub and pool table. I wish we could have stayed longer. There was a problem with the oven when we arrived and the owner offered to come right away to take a look, however there was a barbecue on the deck that I was able to use instead. The location is a reasonable drive from activities that we had planned on Mt Hood.

Owner's Response: We are so grateful that we were able to host your family in our cabin! We think its the perfect place for large groups to hang out and spend time together. We are also so appreciative that you let us know about the smoky oven. We were able to run the self clean cycle and remove all the spilled grease that was creating the smoke. Come stay with us again soon! It was a pleasure having your family at our cabin. Celeste

Mixed Bag but overall great place

  • 3 of 5

First and foremost- can't say enough how great the location of this house is. Sits right on the Sandy River with great views nature and river from all the rooms. The layout of the rooms was ideal and the cabin seemed to be almost new, was clean and neat - location was perfect, within a short drive of the ski resorts at Mt. Hood

Sadly however, what could have easily been a 5 star review is not because of simple oversights that just became irritating over the course of the week: We experienced the following:

1. The hut tub was completely green when we got that - smelled completely rotten. Had to shock and work on it constantly just to get it passable. our last day the pool/spa guy came and couldn't even explain how it got that bad. he drained half of it and worked on it for a hour but we were leaving that day.

2. The bbq grill outside had no propane, so we had to buy some. Grill worked good otherwise and was nice.

3. The wood burning stove was a pellet stove. No pellets - we had to go buy some of those and the stove worked good for a day, and then went out. After you tubing it - and having no real tools to use - we were able to clean it out and get it working again (needed due to weather) and it was clear that no-one had cleaned out the burner/ignitor in a long time, if ever. The bolts were rusted shut on the burnpot so I say this with ceraintly.

4. The front door knob fell off in our hands every time we came and went.

5. had a nice pool table, but all the cues had broken tips so we fixed them ourselves

6. All the extra blankets in the house we full of dog hair - maid obviously didn't wash them so we had to. Irritating.

7. Towel rack was broken in one of the bathrooms.

8. The Microwave over the stove had a broken panel - it works but caves in every time you have to push any button on it.

9. The stove was preset at 350 and we couldn't figure out how o cook at any other temperature than that. (not user friendly).

10. Although 12 of us were staying there - they had one small garbage can and one small recycling can. = trash area looks like wild animals had shredded the trash before we got there and it was full - so then we couldn't even put our trash out without making the situation worse.

11. The wifi was terrible/slow. barely worked at all. (some of that could be limited choices)

So - everything on this list is a EASY but when you add it all up - it was pretty annoying for the money we spent

Owner's Response: Hello Erica, We are very glad that you enjoyed the location of the cabin and the layout of the rooms. I think the layout serves very well for large groups, provides privacy but also great gathering areas. I am so glad to read your review and love your candor and honesty! Without honest feedback from guests, we just assume everything is in tip top shape. We have already addressed some of your items and sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. The door knob has been fixed, the screw came out and we replaced it. You mentioned that the wifi speed was slow, the cabin is located in a very rural area and there is only one high speed provider available. We subscribe to the highest speed plan that they offer. We have repaired the pool cues. We have ordered a dumpster instead of trash cans. I do want to add that we don't maintain a stock of pellets for the stove or monitor the level of the propane tank. To restock and refill each time a guest left would be almost impossible for our maintenance crew. I do note on the rental agreement that these items are not provided so that guests know ahead of time. Again, thank you for your honesty and please have a great New Year and thank you so much for staying at our cabin!! Celeste

House is surface-level nice; great location

  • 2 of 5

12 grown adults = way too many for this house to sleep comfortably. Other reviewers are correct, 8 adults max unless others are not picky. We arrived really hopeful and excited about the house. Everything looked amazing - beautiful setting, awesome dining table and living space, pool table, sweet hot tub, pellet stove, two master bedrooms. This house has a ton going for it. Unfortunately, the more we wandered the house, the more we found "amiss" and then just plain wrong. Started with a ripped carpet, a broken towel rack in the bathroom, a wonky futon frame, multiple slats torn off the master vertical blinds. That's when I started taking photos of all the damage. Renting this house comes with the steepest deposit I've ever seen; it almost seemed like a trap, to have all this stuff be wrong, charge a huge deposit and hope the renters aren't smart enough to photograph it on the front end of the stay. Walking into it with the nightly price tag and deposit it has, I would expect a pristine environment. But soon enough, more and more off items were discovered. There was a load of laundry in the dryer, dirty dishes in the washer and the cabinets. Upstairs had what looked to be (and later confirmed by the owner that it was) a ransacked entertainment center and a bunk bed that was so loose, we didn't feel comfortable having anyone sleep in it. It moved/shifted easily 8-10 inches when lightly pushed. The final straw for me was when someone pointed out the Blair Witch pile of river rocks that was holding up one corner of a king bed in one of the masters. As I photographed everything the first few hours of our stay, I emailed them to the owners. They were always apologetic and admitted to knowing about much of it, but said they didn't know about the bunk or rocks holding up the king bed. Said they would have the bunk tightened before the next guests, but no offers for helping us at the time. They did assure me that I would receive my deposit back, which I did thankfully. They said the reason for the deposit was because someone had stolen a Wii and TV. All in all, it was a great trip -- we skiied at Timberline on our full day and enjoyed the hot tub (even while being watched with creepy security cameras pointed at it). Great spot, just the weirdest high-end yet neglected house I've possibly ever rented.
