BEACHSIDE APT for 4+ at SANDY PALMS - SPACIOUS 2BD/2BA on HOOPERS BAY

Commanding the best position, and DIRECTLY on the best beach to stay in Exuma and the ONLY BEACH with resident GREEN TURTLES to watch or even swim with. Our apartment has a sea facing, King bedroom, with sliding glass doors leading to the sun deck and the other bedroom has 2 Twins or a King bed and is garden facing. Both have their own bath/shower room.
The Great Room with very a lofty high ceiling, & with lounge, dining and kitchen (with dishwasher) areas is also sea facing with large, sliding glass doors leading to the sundeck which is equipped with tables and chairs to enjoy relaxing or dining with a beautiful view of the bay.
Quietly located and surrounded by its own 1.4 acre tropical garden but only 12 minutes from the international George Town airport (code GGT )with flights on AA, Delta, Jetblue and also in the winter an Air Canada service whilst only 6 minutes from the capital together with a range of useful shops only a 5 minutes easy walk away for most items our guests need.
The beautiful Hoopers Bay Beach is is a few steps through the palm trees in our garden and is 1 Km (1/2 mile) long with soft sand which gently slopes into the calm sea. Safe for children of all ages as the bay is protected from the prevailing winds which may makes other beaches unsafe for swimming. On the beach we have loungers, tables and chairs together with FREE kayaks and paddle-board for the more energetic guests.

Can’t Wait To Return!
My husband and I originally booked Sandy Palms with owner Peter Oxley. Upon arrival Peter greeted us at his Coral Sands property next door. He asked if we wanted to stay at the one bedroom apartment at Coral Sands, and we jumped at the chance. It was a spotless, open floor plan with every amenity one could imagine. The view of the beach was spectacular as well. We loved the beach.. and would have enjoyed a blissful week there, however we had to return home for a family emergency. Peter was very kind and helpful with our departure plans, and personally came to see us off. We will most certainly return in the near future. We would recommend Coral Sands to anyone wanting a quiet retreat. It has privacy yet if travelling with family or couples, renting both apartments is a nice option(connecting doors). We can’t wait to return! We highly recommend this property! Doris & Tom

Loved Exuma, loved the apartment, loved the location, loved working with the owners, Betty & Peter!
First visit to Exuma. We were very happy with the apartment and that the apartment was centerally located. It was ideal actually. We rented a jeep from the owners of the apartment for our entire stay. It worked out great. The apartment is so close to Prime Island meats and Smitty’s groceries. We got everything we needed there. The tuna salad and crab salad at Prime Island meats is fabulous! We loved Hooper’s bay. We used the kayaks and paddleboard severals times, that the house has available for you to use. We even had the sea turtles swim up beside us. Hooper’s Bay is a great beach. We walked it every morning. We brought our own rafts for the water and loved just floating every day in the beautiful bay. It was very calm. Peter and Betty are great hosts. Peter met us at the house the day we arrived showed us around and gave us maps of the island with lots of great tips and suggestions. Plus he has a great sense of humor and was so fun to talk to. We are travelers, as Peter would say, so we loved venturing out everyday to explore the island. We Highly recommend Robert’s Island Adventures for a full day trip. He takes you to see iguanas, swimming pigs, nurse sharks, thunderball grotto, mile long sand bar and more. One of the highlights of our trip. It’s a must do! We also rented a boat from Minn’s Watersports for 2 days. Also a must do. We were then able to explore Elizabeth harbor. Chat n Chill is so fun. Great burgers and daiquiris. Feeding the sting rays was so much fun! Sand dollar beach and starfish beach were great. The largest red starfish I’ve ever seen. We hiked on Stockin Island to the beacon and than over to the Atlantic side and found beautiful shells there. The sandbars in Exuma are amazing. Just check the tide charts and plan accordingly. Man o war and coco plum beach sandbars were beautiful. We loved eating at Big D’s conch shack, Santanas and Tropic Breeze. Tropic of Cancer beach is spectular!! Book this apartment and go! You wont regret it! You’ll have the time of your life!! Can’t wait to go back!

Beautiful beach is the best feature of the property
The property could benefit with updating the furnishings. The weather was stormy during most of our stay requiring us to remain indoors a good part of the time. The seating is not very comfortable. We also had trouble with the bath water draining and had to use a plunger in the tubs. The owners were away on holiday at the time of our stay so we were met by their representative at the property. We did not hear from her again anytime during our stay and did not receive instructions for closing the property when we left. The beach is beautiful, just wish we were able to spend more time there. Nothing can be done to change the weather. The people living in Exuma are very welcoming and friendly.

A lifetime of memories
We recently enjoyed a fabulous week at Sandy Palms. The house provided everything needed for an awesome vacation, including beach towels, excursion information, wi-fi, A/C and a fully stocked kitchen. The open floor plan was perfect for three adult women. Its central location provided easy access to picturesque beaches, shopping and restaurants. Most importantly, the ocean views and white sandy beach were breathtaking. My favorite vacation activity was swimming/snorkeling with the local sea turtles, a very short walk down Hoopers Bay. Peter and Betty provided exemplary customer service and maintain a fantastic home. I highly recommend this house and already planning another visit to Sandy Palms next summer.

Sandy Palms - July 2017
Our stay at Sandy Palms July 1-8 2017 was extraordinary to say the least! Betty and Peter Oxley went above and beyond to ensure we had a fabulous time on the island by providing info on all local restaurants, supermarkets, excursions, and self-guided activities. He also had his gardener cut coconuts for our enjoyment at our special request as well as provide us with some to share with Moms bakery! Two years ago, Mom shared a coconut with us as a kind gesture that I never will forget. Peter Oxley knew Mom at Moms Bakery needed coconuts, so he surprised us with a return favor to her. Very thoughtful as many coconut trees were damaged during a hurricane that passed Exuma a year ago! We stayed in the upstair apartment of Sandy Palms. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the apartment is much more roomier than it appeared in the photographs. The pictures really don't do justice to this beautiful, roomy space! We loved the high vaulted ceilings and the gorgeous view of hoopers bay! What more do you really need?!? The beach is much closer to the apartment than what it appears in the pictures! Rafts & kayaks were available on the property for our enjoyment - 👍. During our stay, Peter dropped by frequently to check in and ensure we had everything we needed from fresh sheet and towel changes, to providing us general info and answering our never ending questions. We rented a car from Peter, which was very accomodating. I was however, a bit nervous driving a car in which the insurance provided did not cover his car, just only the car of the other party if involved in a wreck, but this seems to be the standard on rentals. So, please drive very carefully if renting a car or boat in Exuma, regardless whom you choose to rent from! We also rented a boat at Minns Marina and encountered the same! Its a good thing that water and street traffic in Exuma is not as bad as in the states. Just be mindful of pot holes and uneven roadsides and remember, the turn signal is on the right! 😂 Overall, all of our expectations and needs were met and/or exceeded! We would highly recommend anyone to rent from Peter and Betty Oxley and their absolutely beautiful condo style apt on Exumas Hooper Bay! It's the only place in Exuma that I know of that you can wake up and swim with friendly, curious sea turtles daily! My biggest regret is not scheduling 2 weeks rather than just 1! Thank you very much Peter and Betty for your unparalleled hospitality!
