Overview

About the property

Old Building/modern Design, Elevator-Extraordinary Location.

An exceptional setting in the very heart of old Florence 50 meters from the Uffizi Gallery and piazza della Signoria. Via del Corno is a quiet and historic street where one of the greatest Italian writers of the early 20th century lived and on which he set his most famous novel. It almost touches Palazzo Vecchio, which frames it at one of its ends. A 50-meter walk and you are in piazza della Signoria and at the Uffizi Gallery, and in 3 minutes you are at Ponte Vecchio. 200 meters in the opposite direction lies piazza Santa Croce.

A tourist could ask for no better location in Florence.

The home 75 square metres is on the first floor of a historic building with a monumental portal, a lovely entrance hall and a comfortably ample staircase with an elevator.

Uffizi Apartment was completely renovated in 2015. Very elegant indeed with its contemporary furnishings, it is an enchanting place to live, highly functional and perfect in every detail.

Parquet, air conditioning in every room, two bathrooms and balcony.

It is warm in winter and cool in summer thanks to the air conditioning but also to the extremely massive walls typical of historical edifices and its excellent exposure. The large windows make for bright and airy spaces.

The home is very quiet and the light-hued contemporary design of the furnishings immediately conveys a feeling of immaculate order and of relaxation. Warm and equipped with every convenience, this apartment combines the structural details typical of the old, such as the beautiful wooden ceiling, with the requisite comforts and conveniences of the new.

interiors

One enters a small foyer that leads to the living area, a comfortable parlor distinct from, but well-connected to, the kitchen that opens onto it further ahead.

To the left one finds the first double bedroom (“Pratolini”) with a small terrace, while to the right a small anteroom gives access to the first bath, the storage and laundry room and to the second double bedroom with private bath and built-in closet. The home can very comfortably accommodate even 6 adults. The two bedrooms are separate from the living area and the kitchen and the two bathrooms guarantee extreme privacy.

two double bedrooms of 15 sqm each

The “Pratolini Room”: ample, with beds that can be joined or separated, a balcony, a large closet with sliding doors of textured glass, air conditioning and wifi.

The “Amanti Room”: with a large double bed, built-in closet, private bath, air conditioning and wifi. A floor to ceiling window looks onto the street.

two baths

One bathroom is in the Amanti Room and the second bathroom can belong to those occupying the Pratolini Room.

These are equipped with 80x80 cm shower stalls in plate glass with nozzles whose aerated spray makes showering a real pleasure. The design of the fixtures, accessories and furniture give the bathrooms the same touch of class one senses in the rest of the apartment.

the living room is a comfortable space opening onto the dining area and furnished with a soft sofa (which can become a double bed), a flat-screen television and book case. Here one can sip a drink before dinner or relax, reading or watching TV.

the kitchen is spacious and fully equipped, its colors light hues of pine, with a large refrigerator-freezer, oven, microwave oven, toaster and every utensil needed for cooking. The table seats 6-8 persons.

These ample spaces make for a quality of life that can last a few days or months and even years.

More information on the location and on the charming via del Corno

The apartment is situated in the heart of Florence, in the true historical center of city, in that medieval core where beautiful Florentia was born.

The street, which is closed to traffic, is immersed in silence, picturesque in a typically Florentine way. It was here that the famous writer Vasco Pratolini lived and where he set his most famous novel, Cronache di poveri amanti. A placque opposite our portal commemorates this illustrious writer. The street lies just behind piazza della Signoria, to most ancient center of Florence.

Via del Corno lies between two important pedestrian streets: Via de’ Neri, which is famous for its many traditional shops, bakeries, small restaurants and other eateries, gelaterie and cafés, many of which are featured in the most important guidebooks, but also with a supermarket in the vicinity. Via de’ Neri also has friendly shops where one can buy reasonably priced clothes, shoes and bags. The other street, Borgo de’ Greci, offers excellent shopping for artisanal products.

The Uffizi Apartment was also conceived for persons wishing to rent for longer periods, for work or for study, and is consequently equipped with all of those spaces and conveniences to live as comfortably as in one’s own home!

Thanks to the efficient disposition of the rooms and spaces, this home can be rented to groups of friends, large families or even to persons who have to study: plenty of light, silence and every convenience make this a perfect apartment for longer stays. The home is complete with a handy storage area for suitcases and shoes as well as the laundry.

The Uffizi Apartment sleeps six persons thanks to the double sofa-bed in the living room, and one can also request additional small beds for children to be placed in the double bedrooms.

Why make this choice?

My name is Cristiana. I teach Italian history and literature. I really love my city and I love the houses of the historic center. I have a great deal of experience in real estate in this part of town, and in 2014 I began looking for the “ideal” home in order to work with tourists. I saw scores of homes before finding the one I am offering you. In Florence there are innumerable homes for tourists, but I wasn’t looking for just any home. I wanted to find a place where I would have gladly lived.

It is anything but easy to find homes that are well-designed, quiet and bright within the confines of that tiny central area where I feel a tourist ought to live even for a short time. The real center of Florence.

Only from here can you wander on foot at any hour of the day or night, in safety and with home close by. Palazzo Vecchio, Ponte Vecchio, the Bargello, Piazza del Duomo, Santa Croce and the Uffizi, and teeming with little streets full of life and interesting places to discover -- all of this within a few hundred meters -- or just looking up on via del Corno.

Comfortable and convenient

  • 5 of 5

We rented this apartment for a week in March and it was perfect for our purposes. There is plenty of room and the bedrooms have great closet space. The beds are very comfortable. We appreciated having two bathrooms, which are very compact but work well. There is climate control, a washing machine with indoor and outdoor drying racks, a coffee maker, microwave, toaster, refrigerator, dishwasher, stove/oven and plenty of tableware and utensils. Of course we mostly ate out to enjoy the fabulous Florentine cuisine, but it was nice to be able to have breakfast and snacks at home and one night we ate dinner in. There is a Conad grocery store a few minutes walk away, which we found to be very economical.

The Wi-Fi is excellent and there is a TV with some Italian stations. The night we stayed home we streamed a Netflix movie on my laptop, which was a funny kind of hybrid American/Italian experience.

The location is fantastic and it was easy to walk everywhere. Or, there is a busy taxi stand right on the edge of Piazza Santa Croce, only a few blocks away, where you can pick up a taxi if you want. The apartment is on a narrow residential street right near Piazza della Signoria and the Uffizi, and even though you are adjacent to very touristy areas it is very quiet, apart from occasional revelers in the early morning hours.

We really loved staying here and had a nice sense of home during our visit. Cristiana is a gracious host and gave us some excellent tips for places to eat. Overall, I would highly recommend this apartment and am glad we were able to stay here, as it made our week in Florence even more enjoyable. It just seemed that anything we could possibly need was there. Thanks Cristiana!

Nice and central

An excellent apartment, really close to the Uffizi and Arno, and a short walk to the Duomo and Ponte Vecchio. Matias checked us in and made sure we were all set, with local recommendations. Had a great time!

Amazing location, apartment, and Matthias was great too!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I rented this apartment with another couple over the Christmas holiday, and it was hands-down one of the best things we've ever done. The apartment was certainly big enough for the four of us, but once we got our bearings around Florence, it was perfectly located around Santa Croce (easily our favorite church), the Duomo, Uffizi, etc. etc. Matthias, who helped us check in, gave us loads of recommendations for things like restaurants, things to see-- he was so diligent that he gave us advice on where to buy groceries for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and St. Stephen's Day. We had a wonderful time in Florence, and I can easily say that it was partially because of how great this apartment was and how helpful Matthias was!

There was a strange music concert that happened at 3AM on Christmas Day, which no one could really do anything about, so everyone in the apartment decided to break open the prosecco and espresso, and unwrap presents early. It was a great experience, albeit a bit of a strange one! :)

Owner's Response: I am convinced that the quality of the holiday is also made by the choice of the house. If the house is well positioned and comfortable, beautiful and with every comfort, the holiday will certainly be much more pleasant. It is very important to choose the right house. I am very happy that my guests have also reported our assistance service. Many homes do not offer our standard preferring to save a little on price. It's wrong. because the work that Matias does is largely repaid. It is always available and available. This fact is very important because having a person who helps you is decisive for the quality of the holiday.

Great location. A few things would make our stay just as great!

  • 3 of 5

The apartment is in the perfect location. It is just a block or two east of the Piazza Signoria and the Uffizi Gallery. The duomo is slightly further north. In a different direction, the Ponte Vecchio is four or five blocks. Two blocks to the east is the Basilica of Santa Croce. There are many excellent restaurants in Santa Croce.

There are few things know and a few things that would help any traveler’s experience. First, we noticed complaints about noise in prior reviews. The noise comes from a business that rents stands to street vendors. They roll the stands out to the street at around 6am every morning. This creates quite racket. Sometimes someone on the street makes a bit of noise but not too much. The street is quite narrow. Only very small cars can reach the front door. There is an elevator which is nice but be prepared for a few steps to reach it. This is more important for people like me - a little older and not quite as strong as I use to be. None of this bothered us, however. It is just part of the experience.

As to things that would help any traveler’s experience. Garbage bags, dishwasher soap, shampoo, bath soap and more than bath towel per person would save time and effort after travel finding these this in an unfamiliar city. Also, there are very few drinking glasses. We made do and found what we needed, but it would have been more pleasant if we did not need to search for these simple things on a cold damp night.

Finally, there is a distinct odor in the larger bathroom. It smelled like sewer gas. We couldn’t find the source and it never went away. This needs attention.

Owner's Response: Respond willingly to customer suggestions. Regarding the elevator, I think it's quite normal to be able to climb four or five steps. Otherwise the guest should warn as it then means that it is a disability that must be reported. Regarding the glasses, they may have been broken by previous guests, the thing is strange because I found six. However I will add others. Regarding the slight noises reported, I can say with total certainty that there is no rental carts. There is a shop that rents bikes, but opens at 9.00 in the morning and bicycles do not make any noise. Perhaps the guests are very sensitive to noise, obviously it is a very subdued thing, but they themselves said that the road is very quiet. No one has ever talked about carts or the like. The bathroom does not emit any bad smell. The question is related to the use of the bathroom. If the bathroom is not used, it may be that the water is stagnating in the pipes. It is sufficient to open the sink tap and everything passes. Perhaps the customers used only the bathroom in the room and therefore the other remained unused. Sometimes it happens, but it's a matter of a few seconds, just run the water in the pipes. Concernig soaps exc. I give to my guests a courtesy kit each one as the best 5 stars hotels. I give three towels for each guests and a garbage pack (just one of course). I think I'm one of the few that give all theese kind of things. Other must be bought by the guests in relation to their needs. However, I suggest to all my clients that they should warn during their stay and not when they go away in the reviews. If I had known about the glasses or the smell of the bath I surely have solved immediately these simple problems...

clean, functional, well located...only 1 problem

We had excess noise in the street outside the apartment on many nights...Seems like a hangout....Need earplugs...When we finally had enough my wife opened the window at 3:30PM and gave then a piece of her mind...with a reference to the police...They left...

Otherwise a very good stay...

Owner's Response: 1160/5000 Thank you for the 4 stars assigned to your experience. I think it did not go so bad if they decided to reward with 4 stars. Unfortunately it can happen everywhere that some uneducated people stop and speak out loud. NOn is absolutely a meeting point. The road is deserted and there are no pubs. Obviously in every street, even the quietest like mine, without cars or pubs nearby, it can happen. We are in a big city, there are many people who are late in the evening. It's normal... I find it strange that you have heard so much noise, however, because the fixtures are exceptional and guarantee a reduction of noise. They are certified. They never complain about this. I have the feeling that customers are a bit 'too sensitive and even that these complaints are a bit' a pretext for not having brought an extra chair in the apartment as they have asked a lot of insisting. It was a long bike check (almost two hours!) To convince them that their request was inexplicable. The house is full of chairs and there is a nice sofa for four or five people. Anyway, thanks for noticing the many positive things.
